Car weighs like 3,250lbs before turbo catch cans etc. financing 44k-100k b58/s58 car is pointless to me. If I did have 50k down for a car it’s none of those cars anyway.

The 2JZ is definitely EOL. The airflow of the head and the small amount of bearing surface gives it a ceiling that is much lower than people think. . It was an amazing lump of iron, but time has passed it by.

That toyota 2jz engine is just well balanced 3 time engine compared to a flat plane is super smooth well flowed the heads and block have a good volume on the cast to hold the stress. The main caps also. Is just a strong engine
2JZ with it's iron closed deck block is definitely the best Japanese engine for drag racing but on a road course i rather have a more compact aluminum V6 to improve weight balance.
A Hilux/ early Pickup with a 2JZ powering all four wheels like a GMC Syclone sounds like fun recipe for street digs considering the 4wd's factory 2,920lb curb weight (79-83).
Wait til you see the crazy shit they do with that exact idea in the middle east. Toyota hilux, Nissan patrol, Mitsubishi pajero. They thrown 2js rb26/30, LSs in all them and just wild out.

There’s guys now just doing more modern upgrades w the transmissions and vvt computers etc. But your losing what it is.. To me, I could care less about which ones faster.. I just like to cruise most the time! Haha It’s looks, sound, nostalgia for me. And I fell in love w the mk4 as a kid. And it never became outdated to me. It’s timeless.

Cleetus blew a head gasket doing multiple minutes of 2 step for multiple times for multiple weeks over 15psi on the 2 step on an already old engine and Vic got him a brand new engine after that
The first 2j to crack 1000whp without nitrous was in 07. The last production year for the 2j and 16 years after production start. The b58 cracked 1000 whp in 2019 just 4 years after production started. There’s ppl running 1000whp unopened motor. Yes technology is more advanced now but it cracked that mark in a quarter of the time. Give the b58 just 5 more years and see what it’s going to become. Not saying it’s better or not btw.

The first 2j to crack 1000whp without nitrous was in 07. The last production year for the 2j and 16 years after production start. The b58 cracked 1000 whp in 2019 just 4 years after production started. There’s ppl running 1000whp unopened motor. Yes technology is more advanced now but it cracked that mark in a quarter of the time. Give the b58 just 5 more years and see what it’s going to become. Not saying it’s better or not btw.
