    The Grey Goose, Lund’s 6 second car, is a FFRE built engine, 5.2 sleeved down to 5.0 and predator cams controlled by a Gen 2 factory ECU and a 6R80 with a 4R200 hub (it reset the record with a 6RLide) and some absolutely bonkers wizardry in the tune by Lund Jr to make this thing work. It’s shifting within 300rpm of the commands at well over 9k rpm. The turbo kit was designed by Lund Sr. and the craziest thing is the suspension part are mostly off the shelf stuff from Steeda and I believe UPR & Viking. Oh and it’s going to go even faster soon, they broke the record on less boost than they were using before the new turbos.

    The real reason why you see mustangs plowing into crows is the exact thing that the interview is about. That is, mustangs are the cheapest (relatively speaking) pony car that will make the most power with the least amount of money in mods. Meaning, 25-30k for a used car + about 12k in mods = 800+rwhp. If you want to cheap out? 8k in mods = 650-700whp. So, guys coming from the 4cyl or even some 6cyl cars see that and boom they buy it, can't handle it and crash. If you don't know how to drive and most importantly do not respect the car then you'll have a bad day. Also, the advance trac on these cars does suck! First time listener, great content! 👍

    • @BlackWhiteBeast
      @BlackWhiteBeast 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The real reason why is because of not investing into proper suspension mods and tires. THAT is what gets neglected on this platform by most owners who only shoot for big power.
      Big difference in going sideways when you accelerate with a lot of power vs going straight like an arrow with proper suspension and tires.

    47:30 from talking to guys who have 24's, Ford learned that by putting the heat extractor in the middle and adding the second intake and throttle body, It brings inlet temps down to where they should be.. Like if it's 90 outside you will see 105 to 110 inlet temps on the earlier gen's Sometimes even higher than that.. But on the 24's with the new set up, it keeps the inlet temps at 90/92. Or close to whatever the real temp is outside.....

Now you go long tubes and E85 and you can get towards 900ish.. But if you start going over 700 Wheel you need to start looking at a Ben Calimer for a trans if you have a Manual, or the Auto's too.. That's why for me a rock solid 650 wheel with my cats and stock Headers would make me happy.. But you can do turbo and go to the moon..

    • @braxtonbowers4154
      @braxtonbowers4154 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It’s crazy how much misconception there is around the mt82 and tremec 3160. Automotive journalists are mostly responsible because they only test cars in stock form. Also they test drive cars for a short time and don’t dive into the true issues or own them to go through the entire experience of ownership yet they state which is better and spread the word to the masses. The tremec shifts smoother and feels better than the mt82 stock for stock so they will tell you the tremec is a better trans overall. However the real problem with the mt82 is the stock clutch. It prevents you from shifting at high rpm because it cannot disengage. Everytime this happens you have the driver usually trying to jam it into gear putting a lot of strain on the shift forks most likely breaking them. Then the mt82 gets blamed for having weak shift forks, when the clutch is the problem the whole time preventing the shift. Once you upgrade the clutch (McLeod, or Mantic twin disk) it allows it to shift perfectly. An aftermarket shifter is not even necessary nor the biggest problem but is commonly blamed as well. It will improve the notchiness feel for sure and when paired with a clutch the mt82 feels equal to the tremec. I think the stock clutch is also overlooked because it will hold plenty of power 700+ without slipping,however disengaging at high rpm is the problem. Also a lot of people are not willing to pull the trans to change the clutch or pay a shop to do so. The mt82 actually has a stronger gearset than the 3160 so for a boosted application when set up correctly, the mt82 is actually a better option imo. I have been running a 2019 gen 3 mt82 at 820whp since November of 2018 without a single issue.

    • @Taino5.0
      @Taino5.0 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@braxtonbowers4154don’t me a 3160 I mean the T-56. One of the guys from Lund says they blow the bell housing quite a bit just guys are ashamed to say they have a 60k plus mustang with a similarly weak trans. But I have heard with the right clutch the mt-82 is stronger. I will say in my experience the shifter, stainless line, and making sure there is no air in the hydronic system is very important. My throwout bearing went out and I went back to a new stock everything except the shifter and line and I don’t regret it. As long as I warm up the car and warm up 2nd gear everything is smooth and I redline at stock redline all the time no problems. But if you don’t have a built trans it’s like the lottery. You might get a really good one or a really bad one. I’ve kept my car because even with my problems after I sealed everything all my gearing has been good and it’s smooth once warm. Also depends what trans oil works for yours BG worked for mine with the additive. I say all of this from having problems and learning and sticking to the platform. But I’m the first to say Ford should and can do better. We have to make them do better because if not we just keep accepting it and getting crap. And don’t get me wrong I love my car every time I drive it and like this guy will not buy an auto. Like a $36k Roush with 20k miles was put in front of me and I didn’t want it because it was a 10 speed. I’ve driven one stock and it drove me insane. I like shifting my own gear. But you decently need a good twin disk once you boost. Personally I want to stay NA because it’s fast enough for me and I want to keep the car for life. Maybe later in life.

    Reason a roots blower is more effective a power vs a centrifugal supercharger is not because RPM. Not all boost is the same, roots blower provides massive amount of volume and thus more air density, also it’s right there and does not have to travel far. Pro chargers have to wind out because they have to push that volume with more speed, similar to a turbo. They all have their sweet spots and applications. An engine that winds out high in rpm range prefers a turbo because as long as the turbo is spected out correctly, it won’t out flow the engine.

    I’m sorry but 10k no labor included. The LS is the best bang for the buck, 10k can make 1k whp reliably while the coyote wouldn’t touch 800whp with the same price… and I own a Gen 3 coyote. I love my mustang but miss the cheap reliable power you can make out of LS cars and get added bonus of a chop

    If I am not mistaken, Whipple and roots blowers are two different styles of power adder. Root are you traditional styles, lie your 6-71, 8-71, and 14-71 blower that use a propeller style blade and usually very large to the point it stick out of most hoods. Whipple is a twin screw blower that it more modern and doesn't have as much drag on the engine and is much lower profile which granted why it doesn't stick through the hood most of the time. Roots also make a lot of heat and are usually not able to make as much boost.

    You have to go to an 80+ just to make over 1000whp? I don’t see why that wouldn’t be doable with anything at a 72mm or bigger easily.

    53:38 Brett Lasala is NOT running a factory sleeve. He has a predator block that's been sleeved, and has a half fill. And that is the nail in the coffin for the Coyote VS LS debate. The coyote block itself is the limiter. And that's ignoring the fact that most off the shelf pistons will collapse at high power if you keep a block alive past 1000whp. A predator block is not chump change. Add in sleeves and the half fill (really need to have someone who knows what they're doing because the epoxy is proprietary to that process, and is very hard to get these days) and you are looking at a lot of money.
    Meanwhile, GM came out with the l8t... Which has a factory crank that's been shown to hold over 2000hp, but also a totally factory iron block that can also hold over 2000hp. Not to mention, there are factory ls3's (just has cam and valvesprings), stock bottom end, stock heads, head studs and that's it, running drag week events. Making 1200hp. Richard holdner shown he can make 1450-1500 on a stock bottom end 6.0.
    Thing is the guys who don't wrench themselves never see this kind of stuff, because there's nobody who can stand around and SELL a stock block to them. You have to go looking for the info and the knowledge.

      Right...but your talking about a platform that's been around since 97... Vs 2011. That fact that it's catching up so fast being aluminum stock casting at 302 ci vs some wild 427 ci. Ford just showed the werewolf iron coyote block that can go up to a 5.6 or 347ci.... All in due time as anything else with R/D and money spent.

    • @rubee5.043
      @rubee5.043 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      where did you find the info for half fill? from what I heard from Brett is that its a sleeved stock aluminum predator block (no mention of a fill) with manley pistons, manley aluminum rods , factory ford crankshaft, ported 350 heads which allows it to make 2500 whp... in aluminum block with sleeves thats still fully wet decked. I dont know to much information on the GM engines besides there not as efficient as the coyote. Do you have a source where you found this information from a reliable GM source.

      There's no half fill it's stock sleeved predator.oe stock crank.gt350 ported heads. With upgraded internals! And there's no ls/lt that can do that power reliably with similar mods as Brett's setup (+2800 whp)

    I like muscle cars v8s, but it's not challenging. I like to challenge myself with the Working with minimal inline 4 to create maximum power up against a v8. With a V8(it has 8 cylinders) it's easy to make power to 1k out of the production line with little to nothing. Whether It's LS series or Coyotes motors. it's played out like Honda scene of "oh i got a k swap and b swap! on bolt ons" vs I got a K/B swap with some real custom engineering head and bottom end work to it like 4piston type of work.. showing the craftsmanship of your work out there is what makes it competitive and fun! because Everybody can buy an Ls V8 or A/B/C/D/F/G/H/I/J/K series swap

    Whipple is a TWIN SCREW BLOWER….. he sounds knowledgeable so people are going to take his word for what he says….. Whipple and Kenne Bell are twin screw blowers and VMP\MAGNUSON are ROOTS BLOWERS (which he stated a Whipple was).
    Not trying to anger anyone but there is a difference.
    Roots compresses air in the intake manifold and Twin Screws compress within the blower
