Ingredients:
1 Stick of butter
1/2 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp vanilla flavor
1 cup of brown sugar
4 oz of chopped pecans
1 tsp of sea salt
1/2 cup of corn syrup
7oz of milk chocolate chips (adjust quantity depending on how many clusters you are making)
1 tsp vegetable oil

These look marvelous! The only thing about them is the Crisco. Put Crisco in your garage or anywhere you know there's mice. They won't eat it! And so neither will I. Wouldn't coconut oil work?

I made these and my friends asked me where did you buy these from I said I made them they said WHAT ! me friend said she was asking her other friend where do you think Esmeralda bought these from lol . I didn't get to taste them cause I just had gotten a tooth pulled out so I really couldn't eat my bad lol so I sure will make more just for ME !! lol . My friends all know I get most of my how to videos from you tube . One thing my caramel was alittle more on the thick side I notice when you put your's on the sheet pan they spread out alittle.

My brother and I love turtles specially growing up. I just brought some awhile back and you barely get any in a pack maybe 6-7 for about 5 bucks and some change. I’m not going to pay for that. That’s like a dollar for one. And there small I’m going to try this out recipe out soon. Will give update later.

I just came across your video because I was thinking about turtles candy. I have one question for you. How can you get the turtles to be thick and not thin? if I’m not mistaken it looks like yours were kind of thin because it spread out is that true? Or is it the normal size turtles like you buy in the store?
Thanks for watching and your question as well! They weren't thin at all because once the chocolate coated the caramel/pecan mix it thickens. They were definitely bigger than the ones you buy in the store but you can adjust the recipe to your liking to make them smaller. Thanks again for your question!
Can you add butter or oil instead of crisco to chocolate? I don’t have crisco
Yes you can add a little oil but not too much because it will dilute the chocolate and make it too watery. Thank you for watching and your question as well!
Great video! So why can you not just mix it all together and then drop it on parchment and freeze? Why is the step of Carmel/pecan and then dipping it in chocolate?

Does the condensed milk make the caramel softer?
Thank you for your question. No it doesn't make the caramel softer it actually makes it thicker. You may try it with less condensed milk and see if that makes it softer but we've never tried it that way.
Coat your measuring cup with a light spray of oil or rub it on, corn syrup will all slide right out

Thank you for question and taking time to watch the video! We used 7 oz of milk chocolate chips to make a dozen clusters but you may adjust the chocolate chips depending on how many you are making 💙🤎💜🤍!
If you want to get every last drop of corn syrup from the measuring cup you can by spraying or coating the inside with oil.

How do you keep them from being so soft. I made 4 batches of these, and every time I pick one up, they start softening up so much. I have had to resort to keeping them in the fridge. Is that normal?
Apologies for taking so long to answer and thank you for your question. Sounds like they needed to be in the freezer a little longer. Try placing them in intervals of 20 minutes in the freezer to make sure that they're good to go and once they are ready dip them immediately. Hope that this helps and let us know how they turn out for you!
Oops I add paraffin wax to chocolate , add first in bowl to melt about 1-2 teaspoons grated , then add chocolate stir can reheat if needed. Use measuring cup for depth. I use dipping forks from Micheals . Never gets soft to touch. You don’t taste it.
