due to Filipino's mixed culture, we have developed the flexibility to anything international (food, clothes, accessories, etc) that's why you can find them everywhere 😊 you can find here international cuisines with a touch of Pinoy. That's what makes me proud as a Filipino, we are flexible in many ways and our adaptability is high.

The "silogs" define the quintessential Filipino breakfast.
"Silogs", a portmanteau of the words "sinangag (Filipino styled fried rice) and " itlog" (fried egg, typicall
The variety of the Filipino "silog" breakfast includes
TAPSILOG = tapa (Filipino styled fried or cured beef)
TOCILOG = tocino (Filipino sweet cured ham
LONGSILOG = Longganisa (Filipino styled Spanish sausage)
BANGSILOG = Bangus (Filipino fried milk fish)
plus many more silogs like danggit, hotdog, fried chicken
The common or the uniting theme to all these Filipino breakfast would therefore be the fried rice and the fried egg.
SI = sinangag (Filipino styled fried rice)
LOG = Fried egg either styled in sunny side up, scrambled, over easy.

You are enjoying all the Filipino food that I love! Whoever recommended them to you is an angel! LOL Bananas in the Philippines are actually sweeter compared to the ones we get in north america. The banana q (deep fried banana) you had is actually not your usual banana. It is called saba (very similar to plaintain bananas) and it is mainly used for cooking.

Lumpia in Tagalog; egg roll in English
There are different kinds of lumpia. The smaller version is lumpiang Shanghai usually ground pork or beef. There’s also a fish lumpia. Then the vegetables lumpia. The fillings usually differ. It could be frozen or fresh.Usually the veggies are bean sprouts, carrots , turnip or jicama . Some uses cabbage and pork or chicken meat.

Hey Walid! I love all the silogs - I went veggie though so its tough to find veggie options anywhere. Shawarma, Kabsa and Middle Eastern and Pakistani/Indian/Bengali cuisine is pretty popular here - a lot of Filipinos work in the Middle East, meet friends from the Indian subcontinent and learn stuff like biryani, saalan and tandoori/tikka. They also learn dishes from their Arab employers and when they return home they import them into the Philippines and create Shawarma and Biryani/Kabsa joints. We also have Arabs and Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis who have moved to the Philippines and opened their own shawarma and curry places which are getting pretty popular. The trend only started about a year ago. Halal eateries are pretty common in Metro Manila, its multireligious. If you're eating halal then all you have to do is check for the sign or if a sister is wearing a kumbong/tudong (=hijab or niqab) on her head or on her shoulders, you can be assured its halal. Muslim Filipino dishes are a bit spicier, some of the dishes are similar to what you get in Malaysia and Indonesia, but are still unique to this country. If you go to 'Muslim town' in Quiapo by the Golden Mosque, you can enjoy them all - Satti (satay), Piaparan (like a turmeric and palapa-condiment dry coconut spicy curry), Kulma (Philippine version of korma), Tiyulah Itum (black tinola = really good), Rendang, Piyanggang, Kuning (pilaf), Martabak, Filipino mild coconut-based curry etc. Deffo worth the trip there, it shows how diverse Filipinos are. Muslim Filipinos also eat the same foods other Filipinos eat (adobo, lumpia, pancit, tapsilog, ihaw-ihaw bbq etc etc) but all halal. On a side note, Makati city hall REALLY need to sort out their sidewalks, the state of them in general here aren't great..
