Fantastic episode. The gal was very personable and a good teacher. Very thick MN accent which is always fun to hear. It was hilarious watching her reaction at 16:41 Keep em coming!
Kinda bummed out that meateater was filmed in MN and esp on Mille Lacs. I was on that lake with every free weekend and missed out on bumping into the Latvian Eagle!!!!!
Walleye is worth it because My Uncle and Brother told Me it was so. In 1996 we caught a 3 man limit on Mille Lacs in less then one hour. They taught Me to fish at about 3 years old. I love them for it. We all should be thankful for our forefathers and teachers. 😅
If I remember correctly from the podcast, didn’t Janis say that she was from Devils Lake? Which is probably an even better walleye fishery where you can actually eat fish?
I'm a late arrival to the meat eater series, but I love everything about it. And this shouldn't matter at all but Mandy is easily one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen and she's made even more attractive by her love of the outdoors
I commented about that line too lol I said hey what about the Detroit river during the spring run? No love? We can take a boat of 3 or 4 guys and limit in under an hour and catch 100+ with ease
Howboutcha! Hells yes, me and my boys are headed to LOTW between Xmas and NYE to stay in a sleeper at Arnesen’s! Gonna get our fish on wit dem wallys and saugers too, dontchaknknow!
Mandy, the line about catching 40+ walleye a day and it can’t be done anywhere else really made me upset! Come to the Detroit or st Clair River here in the metro Detroit area in April and may and easily double that 40 fish threshold.. last season was remarkable and it keeps getting better as the years go by, last year we’re numerous days of 100 fish, as we catch our 3 or 4 man limit in under an hour and catch and release until noon or so..
I have a place on a lake that has clear as day water and I have no problem catching walleye. The evolutionary path of the fish has alot today with the bite you want
Great Lake :) come up even further north! To the northeast part of the state you would love the fishing 🙂but I can’t say exactly where cause are cities name is still on the down low but we have world class fishing lol
Yeah dont use reverse on the auger to push slush back down the hole. If you hook anything sizeable all that slush will come back up with the struggling fish, and make it so much harder to coordinate and land. Sure it doesn't happen often but when you hook that 10lb walleye or 20lb pike you want to have as many advantages as possible.
MN is jam packed full of 10/10 Norwegian/Swedish and German blondes who don't realize how hot they are and date dudes just for who they are. I'm ugly as hell and dated a really pretty Minnesota girl. Didn't pan out, and I couldn't stand the accent, but she was a good time. Go for it bud!
As a Texan, this is one of the most Yankee things I have ever seen. That is a lot of ice and a lot of gear for a chance at one good fish. I guess it just makes me appreciate bass and crappie fishing a lot more.
@@philllax1719 lucky for me, they JUST opened the season on them 2 years ago. they're little guys but they eat the same as the big greys. Still a BASTARD to skin.
right?! I fish the Canadian side and a 6 pounder is small, I haven't even pulled one in less then that..9 and 10's all day trolling the big water. But there something about the deep black and gold ones you find in the northern waters. I feel much more gratification about a 24 inch, 3lb goldie (especially through the ice) from my hunt camp up by Timmins then I do about a 10 lber from Erie. That makes them taste better to me haha!
The A3 reel has been indestructible in my possession, can’t speak to rods but the A3 hasn’t disappointed despite the unrelenting and indiscriminate abuse. Far from “trash”, truly - maybe what I’ve used is different from the items you’ve used. What from 13 did you try ?
A great show but to say that "Lake Mille Lacs is the only place that you can catch over 40 Walleye in a day" is a stretch, She obviously has never fished the great lakes system from Lake Erie to Lake Huron and everything in between
As a Minnesota boy I dont know Im just finding this episode. Love the visits to MN to show off what we got. Great hunting and fishing
Fantastic episode. The gal was very personable and a good teacher. Very thick MN accent which is always fun to hear. It was hilarious watching her reaction at 16:41
Keep em coming!
I don’t hear an accent
Jani lookin’ like a gentleman and a scholar over hot dish with the glasses. The Latvian Eagle lookin like a silver fox! 😂
The Latvian lover
I got a plate of Thanksgiving leftovers in a new episode of meat eaters on TH-cam.
Life is good
same!
Whenever I hear a Minnesotan accent I feel like they’re making fun of my Canadian accent and it’s hilarious. 😂
I cant figure it out.
I heard no accent. But then again I’m from ND
Minnesota accent sound more Canadian than the accent we have.
You Canadians talk funny eh
Im from Minnesota and im wondering where she is originally from. Thats a pretty thick accent, but not quite canadian
I love how this channel highlights other people with different experience levels. Doing my best to learn
The banana theory fell to pieces when uncut angling filled his boat with bananas and laid the hammer to pickeral
uncut angling can catch fish under any circumstance
Love this series
Kinda bummed out that meateater was filmed in MN and esp on Mille Lacs. I was on that lake with every free weekend and missed out on bumping into the Latvian Eagle!!!!!
"one inch at a time, I'm getting bigger" same, Yanni.
Patiently waiting for ice in my area...
Where is your area???
I'm in Arizona. If we get ice fishing on my lakes, we've got big, big problems. Our water is in the low 60s.
Upstate NY
Love how excited Mandy would get when Janis would catch one, reminds me of me with my boy, great stuff.
Great series. Awesome guest. You rock Mandy
walleye taste amazing. period . thats why everyone loves it!

"We call it liquid gold."
...Walleye. The fish with liquid fillets xD
Fun episode.
I love this series!
1:27 MeatEater never ceases to expand the culinary repitoire
Mandy has the most beautiful smile ever
16:43 is my mode at every Meateater content drop..
Janis needs his own show for sure. Great Job!
Seeing Janis with a keystone light is taking me for a ride. I don't know what I expected those Montana boys to be drinking but Key Light wasn't it.
I’m guessing that’s what he was offered and he is too polite to refuse. Janis talks about liking IPAs
The best 🍺 is free 🍺
Man every Friday You get me hooked on this show
Great episode 👏
Great episode - Thanks!
Walleye is from the perch family.
Whoever this woman is married to, congratulations LOL
You may not think he is so lucky when she says, "hey honey, your going to have to watch the kids, I'm going fishing!"
I thought last episode ended with a hint that the sturgeon episode with the Floyd family was next?
If I remember correctly from the podcast, didn’t Janis say that she was from Devils Lake? Which is probably an even better walleye fishery where you can actually eat fish?
Next episode gonna be 🔥
He seems slightly disappointed to throw those beautiful eaters back 😂😂
she is phenomenally gorgeous
Looks like fun, I would love to try it one day. But damn it's hard to find ice down here.
Might have to take a nice weekend trip
I like to eat pike but there's a lot of bones. But my favorite lake fish will always be pan fried bluegill, and perch sandwiches 🐟🥪🇺🇲
She’s got a dialed in set up and it’s awesome!
I'm a late arrival to the meat eater series, but I love everything about it. And this shouldn't matter at all but Mandy is easily one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen and she's made even more attractive by her love of the outdoors
Northern Saskatchewan Canada has the best walleye fishing and 40 is a slow day and water is cleaner and fish taste better :)
I commented about that line too lol I said hey what about the Detroit river during the spring run? No love? We can take a boat of 3 or 4 guys and limit in under an hour and catch 100+ with ease
2:18 Cal and Miles scream WTF at their phones
Jani needs his own show honestly.
Cant get over how much this guy looks like quentin tarantino
Talking about ice fishing for walleye over a meal of Venison hot dish. That's sooooo Minnesota. Keep er Movin lol
If you ever make it back through this way, let us know and we will get you on a better bite!
I bet you woulda worn his gift through the video too.
@@scottleggejr probably still be wearing it honestly. I also know what direction the resort they used is on... Not West..
Davy Crockett approves this series
It’s kind of a tease to watch them fish on Mille Lacs and looking out the window at it with no ice yet.

Grew up fishing walleye in Manitoba. It is a great fish to catch and eat.
Mille Lacs walleyes have it rough for sure, with size limits, but you should try and catch a limit of 19inch Walleyes in Eastern Ontario.
When I saw him put it back it crushed me all that work and hype just to put it back lol
I have a place on a lake that has clear as day water and I have no problem catching walleye. The evolutionary path of the fish has alot today with the bite you want

I feel like she explains how to do things way better than most
That new intro animation 🤌🏽💋
LOL yeah zebra mussels that is the problem.....spring netting might play into the issues also but hey MN DNR won't talk about that.
Come on up to Rainy Lake next time I ll put on the walleyes.
Janis looks awesome with those glasses"!!
I hooked the biggest rainbow I’ve ever caught trolling lake Pend Oreille while eating a banana never heard that superstition
It's because we don't make excuses in idaho.
im with Janis about why the obsession with walleye? fishing trout all my life, catching walleye feels like pulling in a wet sock most of the time 😆
Good series
Whoa does reversing your auger actually get rid of all the slush 🤯
They showed the hole and it was still full of ice. No idea what that was.
? goúd?
Nice catch & release bruv👍🏽.
Thx u🙌🏽😤💀♎..
12:55 Its a food chain issue. Zebra take most of minnow diet, minnow die or eat Walleye (or other fish eggs), less walleye spawn with less food source
That guy was her bf? Cmon. I’m moving to Minnesota if women like her are dating guys like that.

Women in Minnesota date men who can get them through the winter
like Red Green says if women don't find you handsome they better find you handy
Just wanna point out that there was some slack in that fish when she measured it
Measured like a true DNR officer.
I sneak bananas on the boat ALL the time. Don’t believe the hype. No science behind that.
13:30 its insane how top anglers like her can read the fish like that. She pretty much used Janis to catch that fish
“I’m getting bigger an inch at a time” 😂
Lake Winnipeg is awesome
Those sugar free orange monster energies are the only thing to get me through economics class
Northern pike is awesome also

Have you ever seen a bass boat?
@@philllax1719 haha, yep! Don't have one of those either, but you make a good point.
@@AdventureOne theres an ice fishing equivalent of a cane pole from the shore. Usually old time guys that catch lots of walleye
Haha you make this 👒 hate a gift Christmas Day for her.❤️❤️😍
walleye makes the best lightly fried fish fillets
I love the fur hats
You can catch and kill 16 walleye a day per person in Roosevelt Lake Wa. So many...
Washingtonian here, our walleye fishery is awesome and underrated and it needs to stay that way! Shhhh lol
Awesome!
Its a tough part of the year. Tagged out of the deer woods and a long way from ice season. Squirrels it is
I friggin LOVE squirrel hunting. Whack a few for me. I moved to idaho from nj, and thats the only thing i miss. Nail a few for me!

its no Lake Erie but those awesome nice Walleye

She absolutely nailed it at 16:00 concerning the state of fishery.
Does 13 need a saltwater spokesperson? Top tier gear, for sure.
Also, i love minnow heads that include half the body. Fishy

@Cheezus Crust You need to find a hobby.
Gotta eat walleye cheeks in garlic butter! Hands down best thing ever.
Cheek chowder man

Venison hot dish recipe?👍🏻
What's the 13 for?
Hell yeah boy
Sasquatch 9:00 back round
I dont think that can of orange monster was really orange monster...
Love from India 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
My wife is gonna leave me for Janis. Just a matter of time at this point....
It's because banana 🍌 has potassium. Fish avoid potassium, touching banana then your bait or lure will contaminate it.
What's the best way to tell a sauger from a walleye or a pickerel?
Sauger have spots on the dorsal fin.
White tip on the tail of a walleye
8:22 She is thinking "are you kidding me, we're doing the fishing superstition conversation? What's next, my favorite color??"
A great show but to say that "Lake Mille Lacs is the only place that you can catch over 40 Walleye in a day" is a stretch, She obviously has never fished the great lakes system from Lake Erie to Lake Huron and everything in between
Said the same thing, particularly Detroit river in April/may lol
That 1 fish limit sucks. I'll stay on saginaw bay and my 8 fish limit....lol
One fish does not make a fish fry!
