    Hey Harrison!
    You’re so right on this!
    My favourite watch is my 2001 Breitling Colt Automatic II. Not the world’s most expensive, or sought after, but an engagement present from my wife and present at our wedding in 2003 and the births of our children in 2002, 2012 & 2018.
    I have newer, more expensive pieces but, to me, the watch is literally priceless.

    Georges Kern has done a GOAT job with Breitling. Just unbelievable. I own the B09 Pistachio and am continually stunned by the beauty and craftsmanship. The problem with Breitling right now is they have too many models that I want and would love to add to the collection tomorrow, including this chronomat.

    Yay I come at 2 minutes! We knew we collect watch to fulfil our dreams, whether it is childhood or target aimed when we were adults. We see purposes in each watch we bough, worn, and knew what to match with on each clothes or occasion.
    OK dramatic part aside, I'm pquite surprise Breitling did made this beautiful dial colour, I know it's green Navitimer is just stonning, but this thing is just another level.

    My collection has 5 "chapters" : the Heritage chapter, the Memories chapter, the Deep chapter, the Fun chapter, and the Special Occasions chapter. Most of my collection are Memories - pieces from the childhood years, they make the memories of loved ones and special moments surface.

      Would be nice to hear what those "chapter" watches are.

    • @robynsjp
      @robynsjp 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rsavage173 The 2 Heritage watches are my father's old Datejust with the engraving "The Rolex Awards for Enterprise 1984" extended to him by Rolex. And then mine, a 1967 321 Speedmaster, the one I pursued for years. My father's one is obviously irreplacable. Among the Memories you have a 1967 5513 Submariner, a 1968 Heuer Autavia 3646, or a 1963 Seamaster300 in rare condition.

    I bought a Breitling Chronomat 44 back in 2010 and I still treasure it.
    Big and shiny, a rare chronometer with 500 metres WR to boot
    Loads of memories over the years which I can associate with this timepiece so it will always be a special piece in my collection

    I own the same watch and didn’t like the rubber strap…it is comfortable but made the watch look smaller than it is. I ended up buying the bullet bracelet for it and now it really pops! Great size, looks great, solid movement that has been worked on big time by Breitling. Bezel is platinum and the rest is SS.

    God. God is love. God is the reason why we are attracted to the good, the true and the beautiful. Whether it is different people we love, different places around the world we love, or even objects we love, human beings are made in the image and likeness of God, and are therefore attracted to beautiful things. And like you said, put those objects into context with milestone life moments, and you have a recipe for even greater love. No one wants to talk about God, but He is the reason for all things good, true, and beautiful.

    Stunning watch. The fact that Breitling didn’t put a true GMT movement in it at $5k+ is a huge shame though.

    • @DWilliam1
      @DWilliam1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I own this watch and also own a “true GMT”. I travel a lot and they both work fine. This takes a tiny more time to set the other time zone…that’s it. I’m almost 60 and have been collecting watches for 40 years and the two things that all the newbies and so called TH-cam “experts” over emphasize are “in house movements” and “true GMT’s”. I have a 2004 Omega Seamaster with an ETA movement and it keeps better time than my 2015 Rolex Explorer with an in-house. Every great Watch House has out sourced parts and movements including Rolex and Patek. One of my favorite watches is my 2003 Breguet Type XX Transatlantique 3820 with a Lemania movement which keeps excellent time, rarely needs a service and is rock solid.

    • @SunsetSheen
      @SunsetSheen หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DWilliam1 I hear you. I actually don’t mind office GMT movements at all. And I agree with your sentiments about in-house movement. What’s a little annoying though is when brands try to charge a hefty price for a timepiece with an off the shelf movement. Breitling has the Chronomat GMT listed for $6,150 on their site. I believe the ice blue dial is a couple grand more and doesn’t even come with the bracelet.. A beautiful watch no doubt, but the prices are a bit ridiculous.

    • @DWilliam1
      @DWilliam1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SunsetSheen These are luxury purchases and everyone has their own criteria. Breitling heavily modifies their sourced movements, but I really liked the watch anyway. You can save a couple of grand buying from a gray market dealer like Jomashop(I didn’t but the boutique basically threw in the bracelet for me and it was cheaper last year, I think I paid $7950). Something I didn’t do was buy a Rolex when the prices were ridiculous. I paid $5K for my Explorer and it was going on the used market for $11K…to me that was crazy. Anyway, have a good one.

    I never bought a watch for myself until the age of 43. My late father gave us watches, to the family. It was his thing.
    Ever since he past, I miss him immensely..
    when I buy a watch, I am having a conversation with him. We argued and fought over everything- except watches. So these little imaginary talks are so precious to me.
    So in the past 5 years I’ve amassed 55 pieces.
    As I said, I miss him deeply…
    BTW, now I’m gifting watches. My wife, my daughters, my brother, my daughter boyfriend, my friends, even to some of my patients..
    I love and adore watches. It just became such a big, deep and meaningful part of my life, since my dad isn’t around anymore.

Some of my favorite pieces are probably worth nothing these days but mean the world to me and knowing that while wearing them is so much more rewarding then getting complemented in a certain model because it is Rolex etc.

    Quite a nice watch but shame no Deployant on rubber : (
    Breitling also skimp (a slightly odd quickset date and GMT hand, with some models having better colour matched date windows than others, and check alignment) so make sure you get 20% off list ; )
