I think the constant change in the number of chains to make and leave is a bit confusing.
This is not a Beginner project to much counting stitches

You were going way too fast for a beginner. I’ve been crocheting a long time and I’m very good, but I could hardly keep up.
For fast tutorials you can use the speed button that control how fast or slow the video goes. I've had to use it a few times for some tutorials :)
Where is the speed button exactly ? Too fast for me too..😅
