    Blast Corps... man this takes me back.
    Back in the 1990's, you could literally just take a game off the game shelf in Wallmart, never having played it or even having read a review on it, and you would know you were getting a good game... at least as long as you saw that Rareware logo on the box.
    How do I know this? Because that's exactly what I did when I bought Blast Corps. I knew virtually nothing about the game, all I knew as a child was that Rareware logo. I was too young to even know what a "corporation" was, at least legally speaking, but I freaking knew if I saw that logo, it was IMPOSSIBLE for the game to be bad.
    So I just yanked Blast Corps off the shelf, asked my mom to buy it for me (I think she was going to by me a game because I did well in school or something, I can't remember), took it home, and had an absolute blast (pun intended) for hours and hours, I even unlocked all the planets that were in the game and almost got all Platinum medals (but some stages were just freaking too much for me as a child).
    THAT'S how I know back in the 90's you could do this!

    Blast Corps was such an original game back in 1997. So much fun to play and the various medals provided a good challenge when trying to complete the entire game. I wish developers would design games like this in today's market and take these kinds of risks again. There was so much creativity back in the 90s and this creativity is sorely lacking in the market now. This soundtrack is rock solid as well!

      My most satisfying video game achievement was reaching rank "You Can Stop Now" and it literally took me years. Getting platinum on those damn pac-man levels took literal split second perfect precision from start to finish. Those 2 levels and one other (I can't remember which) were the last 3 I was able to Platinum and I'm pretty sure I only did so close to if not more than a decade after first buying the game. Granted I stopped playing a bunch of times, but there aren't many games I've ever picked back up in an effort to 100% and actually appreciated enough to keep at it until I finally succeeded.

      Well, a lot of original games nowadays came out during that time period or earlier, such as the Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, Grand Theft Auto, and a ton others. Original games are still coming out to this day. Some people just get blinded in nostalgic that they just hate on games they didn't grow up or play with.

    This game was extremely difficult. I only got a few of the platinum medals. Some lunatic on TH-cam apparently got all platinum medals & described the experience as the most difficult thing he'd done in his entire life. That sounds about right.

    This was my first n64 game. I'd never played a game like this before, and I was hooked. The music is definitely part of it, and man, the game and levels kept going, it was just "out there". I was turning 11 then, but I got my hands on the game again a few years later and cleared the rest of those platinum medals ;) still remember that moon bonus level. And the cool hidden music if you stuck around menus too long :D

    Hi, nice video, I love this OST. The Unknown soundtrack is the "critical" part of the song of the magma peak, mercury, moon and mars. It is weird because the levels with this soundtrack doesn't have the nuclear bomb truck, so, you can't be critical. It doesn't appear in the game but it might be in the whole soundtrack of the game

      +Jody Trandana I loved it. responsive handling and immense power for smashing buildings down. the only downside is that if you hit things at funny angles it would bring you to a halt. I remember though this technique i had to sort of turn into buildings hitting with the corner of the front of the truck and it wouldnt lose me any speed going through

    This is from when Rare was GOOD. Selling Rare was the dumbest thing Nintendo ever did. If anything else, they should have retained the rights to the franchises that Rare made on Nintendo systems.

    • @sonicdoesfrontflips
      @sonicdoesfrontflips 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +therealhardrock 49% of Rare was all Nintendo ever owned at once. They only sold their share after Microsoft already bought the other 51%, because keeping the smaller half of a company owned mostly by your competitor would not be very useful.

    • @Lagomosa
      @Lagomosa 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nintendo never owned 100% percent of Rare but Rare was fully financed by Nintendo at the time, that is why they made all of this masterpieces, when microsoft arrived a lot of the employes that were involved in the Rare/Nintendo projects left the studio, for that i think that the true Rare was when working jointly with Nintendo.

    • @therealhardrock
      @therealhardrock 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rare sold the part of the company that Nintendo didn't own to get back at them for the meddling Star Fox Adventures. But they only hurt themselves and worse, they hurt us gamers by doing that because now a lot of their old games (including this one) are now lost to the Tragedy of the Anti-Commons.

    CAN IT AMBER. I've been trying something else for the past three hours. Why not try driving this stupid dump truck yourself? It's not like we have Mech Warriors capable of FLYING OVER THESE STUPID TREES. What's more important to you, you insufferable back seat driver? The fate of the world, or the annual budget? How about you guys give me the good stuff instead of setting me in a train fifty miles from the houses I have to destroy?
    Probably one of my favorite games ever.
