900 Hours here. Avorion is a great game. Co-op strongly recommended.
However, its a game that takes VERY long to progress. It can be very monotonous at times, and quests can be quite tedious.
Bear your time management in mind. A single playthrough may take more than 200-300 hours. Its fun if you can find friends to play it with!
Avorion is an amazing game. Really the only space game allowing you to build an empire, block by block. I never really race to the end of the game, but always get caught up building industry somewhere 😀
i was one of the early adopters of the game and damn did that guy deliver. the constant BIGGER BETTER FASTER curve experience is so so satisfying....until SWOKS finds you and blasts you into pieces
X4 Foundations is up there as well.
Imho avorion has one of the best if not the best building mechanics for a spaceship game, I've spent countless hours detailing ships as much as possible and I don't think I'll be ever able to tap full potential. Also this game has absolutely no limits on what you can build, avorion shows you scale of your ships in meters and you can quickly run into kilometres.
Also cool thing about avorion is being able to mod the game, something like Xavorion mod pack turns the game into an entirely different experience!
Totally worth the money, especially how laughably small the file size for the game is.
Nice video, but ONE thing to say I have - STAR WARS is extra stronk with this one. The player can also play with Halo, STAR TREK, Homeworld, EvE online, etc.. The most interesting ships atm are Asian made like the DENEB and Long March Industry 17th Fleet. And then come the mods for almost anything you could imagine - guns, components, abilities (NPC stuff), map generation enhancers, better spawn rates, custom factions, AI buffs, etc..
Picked this up a few days ago... its utterly disgusting how unknown this is.. I am in love with it and my friends are enjoying it too, even those that dont normally play space games.
"it doesn't look great" ?!? 😂 it was made by 1 guy who originally built it using Microsoft excel on a budget equal to a happy meal. When you understand things in context you realize it actually looks bloody incredible. :D I call it "art deco space simulator" as it just has that vibe to its lighting and textures. And as for the price, to my mind it is too low, I have paid far more for games that I only ever played once, I have been playing this on and off over the last 6 years :o) It should be $20 to my mind, with sales of $14.99 on occasion. It is worth it.

Wonder how fast or slow the progression is...
For x4 i kinda miss some starting game settings that would make progression faster, cuz it's quite slow :/ (this and no multiplayer are my only issues for x4)

I just bought x4(Have not played yet). You are tempting me to get his to add to my backlog! Trying to decide to but but you have been excellent in all game reviews so far. Would the dlcs be worth grabbing?

@@Nyxson the Avorion DLCs are more of an optional than a requirement. If you find the concept of "build big gun brick to win" to be a bit lackluster, the into the rift dlc adds little challenge maps that limit the size of ships you can bring in making build considerations matter a bit more but also add completely OP modules and a system to combine your own modules to create them. If you like piracy and dealing in elicit goods, the black market DLC enhances that aspect of the game. Without it, it doesn't really exist. Finally the behemoth event series is just a free end game replacement to farming the final boss repeatedly until you get bored. lol
Yes, both x4 and avorion dlc are worth their money. trust my combined 3k hours.
Also, both are actually able to run on the steam deck lol.

Bought it years ago, and gave up on it because of huuuuuge lag/stutter/sync problem on multiplayerservers. And as far as i know, it hasnt got better really. Such a shame
I suggest you all take a look at Spacebourne 2.
A game with great potential, low price, more features than most AAA games made by a single developer.

I played this a lot a few years back. But this game lack some depth imo, at least last time I played it. Its still very fun for a while tho.
it's had constant work over the last 6yrs I have played, it is much more fleshed out now, not so many needle ships spinning in circles but some real chonky monsters, many more options on economy, more story, better fleet management, chips, etc. It's never going to be Star Citizen but it's still more fun than Starfield 😂
too bad that ultimate ship design is borg cube. that is what kind of killed it for me. otherwise awsome.
Is this worth getting to play co-op? What kind of co-op progression is there?
the kind of co-op progression where you can go from 4 blocks to a vast fleet fighting a faction war white your star bases produce goods to finance the conflict, and profit from it.

Is there a good play-with-friends space sim that's not NMS/ED/Eve?
Especially something we can run our own server for the universe.
I'd absolutely love it if X4 let us run dedicated servers for friend-play. I'm just getting into the game, but really enjoying it.
NMS doesn't feel like a space sim. More like a survival crafting game with space travel added.
ED was beautiful but lacked gameplay. (I didn't count hanging out in the forum trying to solve obscure puzzles as gameplay)
EVE has the universe, but I wanna fly, not click around. And I never found soloing to be a working proposal in EVE.
A game wouldn't necessarily need to have co-op, but just support friends being able to drop in/out as their own faction to play with or against.

X4 Foundations… Specifically Boron ships and Stations
problem with this game is its kinda repetitive. after unlocking blue material there is nothing new for you to get outside of bigger numbers.
the idea of the game is good, but whenever i see just for a second how my controls make the ship move, i hate it. it's the worst controls of any space game ever

I liked the game at first
But its not good
It does not have economy
Everything is independent
And you can make money ignoring what stations there are
And load … every time you switch ship .. to another sector to give it commands …
Bad
If they fix those few thing to make the game more immersive
Then yes its a good game

i mean this is basically a game made by ONE GUY. if you can not have love and money for THAT, you really love your EA/UBI IV drip. (google SWEET BABY, INC. ---and youll understand why our AAAAAA industry is f'd up....really.) i was an early adopter of AVORION and i never regretted it.
the one minor thing with avorion thats annoying is sort of the camera focus on your ship, the bigger you build the less you see and the maneuverability can be wonky....but .....thats about it. it is on par with the X games, i feel. the voxel destruction makes it even better.
oh, nick you actually made me buy X4 foundations! DEFINITELY a beautiful game with so much depth. the only gripe i have with it is the crappy scanning stuff - really? having to hover in a space suit scanning it all twice is really bleh...
