  • He was the horse of a generation becoming the 12th in history to win the American triple crown.
After his dominant Breeders Cup success he was retired to stand at Coolmore in north America and Australia for the southern hemisphere breeding season.
He is the first triple crown winner to stand in Australia and a great addition and boost to the local scene highlighting the importance of racing in this country.

He is a beauty. I got to see the GOAT back in 77, Secretariat. Want to talk about beautiful, he was ....perfect. I never got to ride him but I did get to ride a few of his offspring....they were bat-shit- crazy and went to the breeding farms before ever racing.

@@Brick-so1ig I guess it depends upon semantics really.
There was certainly no charity about the commercial decision. It is not even particularly fortunate because we also stand Justify and he is now producing better results than AP on turf. AP is also outperformed by dozens of local stallions, which is exactly where any fascination about his race results or the esteem he is held in by other countries ends.

In the northern hemisphere the universal birthday for thoroughbreds is January 1. In the southern hemisphere it's July 1. Stallions in the northern hemisphere are bred from mid-February to mid-June, then if they're of the caliber of Pharoah, they're flown south of the Equator to be bred starting in mid-August. They make the return trip in time to rest up for the next breeding season.

He wasn't sold, Coolmore has a breeding program in is Australia. Think of it like a work holiday in warm weather while Kentucky is buried in snow. And while what happened to Ferdinand was a tragedy, the in industry does a much better job of keeping track of stallions sold over seas. Most now have clauses in the sale contract that has the stallions come home when they retire from breeding.

Yeah AP breeding has been soso for a triple crown winner. Justify definitely got off to a better start than AP. Into Mischiefs are my favorite current breeding to bet. Not This Time is also a good one so far from the newer sires and for turf races love me some Street Boss, War Front, Temple City, Yoshida. Some other good ones for turf of the newer sires are Oscar Performance and Air Force Blue keep an eye out for those.
