Kentucky Derby Winners American Pharaoh, Justify and Funny Cide - Where are they now???

It's been awhile since the spot light of the Kentucky Derby shone on American Pharaoh, Justify and Funny Cide. They are retired race horses now but far from done working. While Funny Cide enjoys his senior years at the Kentucky Horse Park, Pharaoh and Justify spend their days at Ashford/Coolmore stud creating the next generation of race horses.

Justify, will always be special. I took my 10 years old son to Belmont Park. And we saw him win the Triple Crown in 2018.

Pharoah is such a sweetie. I don't know if his babies have done much on the track, but if they've got his disposition and movement, they could find success in second careers as eventers I bet.

I absolutely loved American Pharaoh, quite an exceptional racehorse. I am disappointed in his ability to pass this on to his offspring. His lowered stud fee is proof of that. Reminds me of Secretariat, however you spell his name...

Yeah, Secretariat was a terrible stud. EVERY year, at least 80% of the 20 starters in the Kentucky Derby can trace their pedigree back to Secretariat. Lady's Secret, Terlingua, Risen Star, Chief's Crown, A.P. Indy, Smarty Jones, American Pharoah, Justify, Flightline, Storm Cat, California Chrome, Gun Runner, Giant's Causeway, Beholder, Wise Dan, Royal Delta, Casa Creed, Cody's Wish, Not This Time, Liam's Map, and MANY others trace their pedigree back to Secretariat. If you know anything about horseracing, this list is a "Who's Who" of horseracing champions.
