    I don't know why this appeared on my recommended as a Singaporean, but I totally smiled watching this. Its nice seeing people acknowledging our country and what we have to offer, and just knowing that others have had a good time while on travels here and plan to visit as well.

    As a Malaysian living in Singapore for over 20 years, I can say the country has never ceased to innovate and adapt to changes. When-ever you get to visit the country, the key word that I would associate with Singapore is " Convenience ".

    The 3 buildings that’s connected at the roof is called Marina Bay Sands hotel. I was part of that project actually. Singapore is so small, from Marina Bay Sands to my apartment is only 20 minutes drive away.
    To get around Singapore you don’t need to drive. You can go around by public transport and it’s so easy (since Singapore is so small)

    Honestly nobody eats rice on a plate with chopsticks. Chopsticks (for rice) are only used when the rice is in a BOWL. I'm speaking from a "traditionally practiced" point of view. You are free to use chopsticks with rice on a plate but you're gonna have a lot of problems 😁😂. We just use a fork and spoon for that.
    I remember Haw Par Villa giving me nightmares as a kid, cuz many of the stories depicted there are the 9 levels of Chinese Hell... where criminals get punished with different tortures based on the severity of their crimes on Earth. Gory depictions such as decapitation, digging out your bowels etc as torture methods are shown. As far as I know, the statues are made of stone, but renovation works done in recent years might have "repaired" them with cement or plasters, I dunno.

    Lots of fights break out at newton hawker centre hence the police cctvs there, can get nicer food in other hawker centres and cheaper too. Seafood is pricey in Singapore but that's what most visitors should experience - Singapore Chilli Crab. Indian fish head curry at Little India is also a must try. The ultimate local breakfast is the kaya toast breakfast set which is also available at all times of the day. You also have to try Hainanese Chicken Rice which is a favourite with locals and foreigners new to our shores. If you're looking at specific items, ask locals to recommend where to go for the best bargains. A lot of sellers don't really haggle here so it's pretty straightforward shopping but there's no harm in asking for discounts or freebies.

    1 thing nobody realised is, you cant pull a plant along roadside. (Yes plant, not flower.) to plant it in your house or pluck fruits growing by the road. They are for shows (or RC members i guessed) and 1 small potted plant may cost you $20-30.

    • @eszeezee6967
      @eszeezee6967 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the type of potted plants though. There are very cheap ones you can get at the wet market for under SGD 3. Or at the supermarkets for under SGD 10. Even IKEA sells some good ones. Go to the many nurseries around the island for good bargains. Can even buy online from Shoppee, Lazada, Carousell etc.

    • @tinateh
      @tinateh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are all public property meaning they belong to the government. NParks is custodian of all plant life in Singapore and they enforce the practice of leaving nature as you find it. Don't take away and don't leave or add to it. Every plant you see on the road dividers and sides have been selected very carefully. We are very protective of our biodiversity. I think the only time you could cut wild flowers, weeds and grass growing on the wayside and not get caught is during the Covid circuit breaker when all the foreign workers were holed up in the dormitories.

There are plenty of other amazing food centres that sell the same good stuff but at much more reasonable prices. Bedok 85 market is a good dinner spot, only problem is it might be out of the way if you are living in central singapore. The video also left out the Singapore Zoo which is one of the best in the world and Pulau Ubin, a small island a short boat ride away if you're looking to see what Old school singapore looked like or to get away from the city life.

    5:36 depends on what you define as Chinese People. If you are referring to a person holding a Chinese citizenship then I have no idea. But if you define them as descendants of Chinese origin then SF Chinatown or the City of SF is definitely not the place with the most Chinese People outside of China. For comparison, about more than 76% of Singapore population of 5.7 million people are of Chinese origin, Indonesia and Malaysia has a citizens of Chinese ethnicity of more than 5 million each most of which will probably resides in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Batam, Pontianak, Singkawang and Tanjung Pinang in Indonesia.

    Second World: Eastern Bloc led by the USSR, China, and their allies
    Third World: Non-Aligned and neutral countries
    The concept of First World originated during the Cold War and comprised countries that were aligned with United States and the rest of NATO and opposed the Soviet Union and/or communism during the Cold War. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the definition has instead largely shifted to any country with little political risk and a well-functioning democracy, rule of law, capitalist economy, economic stability, and high standard of living. Various ways in which modern First World countries are often determined include GDP, GNP, literacy rates, life expectancy, and the Human Development Index.In common usage, "first world" typically refers to "the highly developed industrialized nations often considered the westernized countries of the world".

    You're right, the lights on the beach is nonsense. You can watch the Gardens by the bay lights for free from the ground. It costs SGD8 to watch it from the sky bridge for 15 mins. And don't go to Haw Par Villa; it's really run down and absurd. The Singapore Zoo & Night Safari are a better pick. A food discovery journey is one of the best ways to experience Singapore. Chilli crab, black pepper crab, salted egg crab, stingray, durian, bak kut teh, indian food in little India, seafood or frog porridge in Geylang. Don't waste time and money eating in boring mall restaurants. See you guys in Singapore when this pandemic is over. Cheers

      Don't say "catch up" lah. Malaysia has its good points and strengths also, and there are many things Singaporeans can learn from Malaysians. Don't judge both countries by the same standard.

      They will never re-unite because of the reason they separated: Singapore wanted a Malaysia for Malaysians; Malaysia wanted--and still wants--a Malaysia for Malays.
