I tried to play the genocide run myself, but Papyrus' death shook me up so much that I reset and did another pacifist run. I mean... Guys... Even after you freaking kill him, he says that he still believes in you. He still thinks that there's a good person deep inside of you. He's the kindest and most innocent character in the whole game, and when he comes face-to-face with a psycho little serial killer, he OFFERS THEM A HUG AND HIS FRIENDSHIP. HE'S THE PUREST FUCKING CINNAMON ROLL AND HIS DEATH HURT ME SO MUCH.
When Jack said “so many people wanted me to experience characters dying and more story” He actually meant “so many people wanted me to get farmed by sans boss fight”

Notice how when you look in the mirror at yourself in pacifist it says: "It's you!" While in Genocide it says: "It's *me* Chara." So in Genocide the game takes away the friendly narrative, and makes it more about the literal character, Chara's perspective. It's almost as though Chara has killed the narrator and just taken over everything.
Well, it's because Chara IS the narrator. In all routes. You as the player is a guide to them and, depending on what route you take, you show Chara what is a right thing to do: to kill or to show mercy.

I love undertale SO much, its one of my favourite games of all time. But i still, even in 2022, cannot bring myself to do a genocide run. Even watching someone else play still makes me feel so guilty and knowing that Sans basically knows whats going on, and he tells you that, sends shivers up my spine.

What I love about the genocide route is that it ties into the theme of Undertale, about how everything you do has consequences. It's supposed to be a subversion of your expectations, since anybody playing an RPG wouldn't give a second thought about killing enemies they encounter. So what about people who want to grind and get the absolute most money and XP? That's where genocide comes in. You're not just some completionist gamer who wants to max out all their stuff, you're a sociopathic murderer that wants to get rid of every single monster in the underground. Just fucking brilliant.
it’s funny how different ppl interpret their voices. for example, i think of flowery as having a very childish pre-pubescent voice since he died as a young asriel. i also think of sans as having just a normal chill not too low, not too high voice. it’s funny how jack gives him a grainy, low, sort of new york accent. papyrus is spot on tho
well, that wasn't what Sans' voice was gonna be, originally. it had more of a Patrick star sound to it at first. but he changed it because people were telling him that it made Sans sound dumb.

I love undertale SO much, its one of my favourite games of all time. But i still, even in 2022, cannot bring myself to do a genocide run. Even watching someone else play still makes me feel so guilty and knowing that Sans basically knows whats going on, and he tells you that, sends shivers up my spine.

Sans is literally working at every single one of his sentry stations, selling hotdogs etc, working in his basement occasionally or studying, and hell he even a royal council judge responsible on judging fallen humans actions throughout their journey.
And he used to be one of the Royal scientists too, apparently. If I remember correctly, you can find a pic of sans and a group of other people in a lab all together. There were other things in that room too

What I love about the genocide route is that it ties into the theme of Undertale, about how everything you do has consequences. It's supposed to be a subversion of your expectations, since anybody playing an RPG wouldn't give a second thought about killing enemies they encounter. So what about people who want to grind and get the absolute most money and XP? That's where genocide comes in. You're not just some completionist gamer who wants to max out all their stuff, you're a sociopathic murderer that wants to get rid of every single monster in the underground. Just fucking brilliant.

it’s funny how different ppl interpret their voices. for example, i think of flowery as having a very childish pre-pubescent voice since he died as a young asriel. i also think of sans as having just a normal chill not too low, not too high voice. it’s funny how jack gives him a grainy, low, sort of new york accent. papyrus is spot on tho
well, that wasn't what Sans' voice was gonna be, originally. it had more of a Patrick star sound to it at first. but he changed it because people were telling him that it made Sans sound dumb.

I'd like to point out that in non-genocide routes, Papyrus asks if you're a human and Sans confirms it, however in the genocide route, Sans only says you're not a rock, completely avoiding calling you a human in any sort of way.
