I just realized Undyne wouldn’t have died after the fight yet if it weren’t for the intense power of Determination catching up with her body. She was even trying to refuse death at the end.
As soon as she stopped having determination she would have died from the first strike you took against monster kid. In the end, she only accelerated her death with her determination because the bodies of monsters can't withstand it. She would have died whether she was determined to kill Frisk or not
That's an interesting debate amongst fans, would Undyne live after defeating Chara? We're told monsters don't have determination and that their bodies can't handle it. However, Undyne is unique in that she has enough personal determination to both stave off death and take an even stronger form. I think what we would need is a ruling from Toby Fox on just how monsters heal wounds and if Undyne would be able to maintain enough determination to heal.
i think its really neat the undyne got kinda melty before she died. in the pacifist ending alphys talked about how when she injected determination into the monsters, they got melty and all conjoined. undyne talked about feeling something in her soul to help her persist after death, which was of course determination, which made her melty.
The Genocide route weirdly gives more insight into everyones characters, undying litterally not dying just to get revenge and trying to save everyone is one of my favorite moments in undertale.
What's worse about the Genocide playthrough is characters care about each other so their team attacks prove this. Kill Dogamy and Dogerrassa goes into beast mode and tries to rip you apart. Kill Dogerressa, Dogamy just... shuts down. He doesn't fight back. Kill 01, 02's attacks get stronger. He speaks, if only to threaten and spite you. But if you kill 02 first, 01 just... stands there. Unable to fight. Many monsters mourne over their loved ones. It's so _sad!_
it's really interesting how the game MAKES you feel satisfied about killing the characters you were so attached to by making them so hard to beat. it's like you really become Chara... it's genius.

Back when I did the genocide route, I used the glitch where you press up and down against a wall to make frisk walk on the spot, and even then it took AGES to get all the encounters. I give Jack major props for just straight up walking around normally trying to get them

"An angel, the one who has seen the surface, will return and the underground will go empty" this can of course be interpreted in 2 ways. Pacifist and Genocide both have different meanings (of course it means nothing to neutral cause that ends after the omega flowery boss fight). The angel in the pacifist route is of course Asriel because he sets everyone free and the underground goes empty. The "angel" in the genocide is chara because they kill everyone and the underground (from what the player sees) is empty. I find this very interesting.

I like to think that, when Frisk fell, they died. Since they fell onto the bed of flowers Chara's body was buried, Chara's lingering soul fused with Frisk's dying one, and they got revived as a single entity. Since it's two souls fused into one, it would explain why Frisk has more Determination than Flowey, his "you and your stolen soul" comment, and the "but it refused" at the end of a True Pacifist run. I'll go into more detail about this theory if the comments want it.
Yea, I kinda think so too. That would definitely explain the name thingy. (There will be genocide run spoiler in this comment) When Toriel asks Frisk's name, in that moment they remember only Chara (/or whatever you named your human, Chara's the true name so.). Chara is there during all the runs, but in the genocide one, they're stronger and take over Frisk's soul, and at the end, Frisk (/you?) has to sell their soul to get their game back, but that doesn't really happen. After that, all that's left is Chara.

I love the concept of the save feature, especially in the Undyne the Undying fight. Whenever you load your save file, a new timeline starts. No matter how many times you are defeated, there will be a timeline where YOU are victorious. That’s the scary part. But what’s not as scary is that this means there are tons of timelines where you’re defeated. That’s a good thing for the monsters

Fun Fact: Mettaton Neo actually has 40,000 health and 30,000 defense, making him far stronger than Undyne. Remember, 999 defense use to make him invulnerable to physical damage, but now even 30,000 can’t stop the slaughter. Chara is ungodly strong.

It has only 9DF according to wiki, but the stats of the character are only relevant when YOU are fighting them. If Undyne tried to fight Sans, she would probably beat him, because she would constantly attack, effectively tiring him (and she has over 15 times as much health as you+ is much faster than you as she can catch you fleeing several times) and even if he killed her once, then she’d turn into Undying (since we only could skip this part because we killed her while she protected monster kid), so the total goes up to 24500 HP for Undyne. With Mettaton - his attack is only 90, but his DF is (according to official stats) 9, unlike Undyne’s 999, so yep, he isn’t stronger than her.

Friendly reminder that Chara does not possess you until the last hit on Sans and onwards. The player is the villain. There is no character to blame, just yourself. They are a child that sees their purpose as mass destruction because of the player. There is evidence of Chara's kind nature in the pacifist route. They're the ones that provide memories of the past that comfort and inform Frisk and Asriel. As well as sacrificing themselves for their family to free them.

In defense of our Heroine, all she knows is how horrible humanity is, even Gerson tells the player that the monsters have taken the Delta Rune to a grim light and I'm sure that's something that Undyne would do ANYTHING to prevent. She, Sans and Alphys are my three favorite characters of all time. Papyrus is pretty awesome too, I can only imagine that if you were to push him to the edge he'd REALLY be a force to be reckoned with. I mean even Undyne says he's pretty freaking tough.

What's worse about the Genocide playthrough is characters care about each other so their team attacks prove this.
Kill Dogamy and Dogerrassa goes into beast mode and tries to rip you apart. Kill Dogerressa, Dogamy just... shuts down. He doesn't fight back.
Kill 01, 02's attacks get stronger. He speaks, if only to threaten and spite you. But if you kill 02 first, 01 just... stands there. Unable to fight.

Back when I did the genocide route, I used the glitch where you press up and down against a wall to make frisk walk on the spot, and even then it took AGES to get all the encounters. I give Jack major props for just straight up walking around normally trying to get them

Secondly she fought with everything she had until her own body could not contain her power, so I dont think she would have run away or "vanished". "An angel, the one who has seen the surface, will return and the underground will go empty" this can of course be interpreted in 2 ways. Pacifist and Genocide both have different meanings (of course it means nothing to neutral cause that ends after the omega flowery boss fight). The angel in the pacifist route is of course Asriel because he sets everyone free and the underground goes empty. The "angel" in the genocide is chara because they kill everyone and the underground (from what the player sees) is empty. I find this very interesting.

I like to think that, when Frisk fell, they died. Since they fell onto the bed of flowers Chara's body was buried, Chara's lingering soul fused with Frisk's dying one, and they got revived as a single entity. Since it's two souls fused into one, it would explain why Frisk has more Determination than Flowey, his "you and your stolen soul" comment, and the "but it refused" at the end of a True Pacifist run. I'll go into more detail about this theory if the comments want it.

When Toriel asks Frisk's name, in that moment they remember only Chara (/or whatever you named your human, Chara's the true name so.). Chara is there during all the runs, but in the genocide one, they're stronger and take over Frisk's soul, and at the end, Frisk (/you?) has to sell their soul to get their game back, but that doesn't really happen. After that, all that's left is Chara.

I love the concept of the save feature, especially in the Undyne the Undying fight. Whenever you load your save file, a new timeline starts. No matter how many times you are defeated, there will be a timeline where YOU are victorious. That’s the scary part. But what’s not as scary is that this means there are tons of timelines where you’re defeated. That’s a good thing for the monsters
Fr which basically means that a full successful genocide run is essentially a very unlikely possibility but it is still a possible and the absolute worst outcome for the monsters
it is quite scary to think about from their perspective. also makes sans' behavior make a lot of sense. i mean, if i were living in my own personal groundhog day and i was fully aware of it id feel pretty hopeless too.

Fun Fact: Mettaton Neo actually has 40,000 health and 30,000 defense, making him far stronger than Undyne. Remember, 999 defense use to make him invulnerable to physical damage, but now even 30,000 can’t stop the slaughter. Chara is ungodly strong.
If I am right that 30,000 defense is in negative in the codes, so no matter how weak your attack will be it will still one hit kill mettaton neo.

It has only 9DF according to wiki, but the stats of the character are only relevant when YOU are fighting them. If Undyne tried to fight Sans, she would probably beat him, because she would constantly attack, effectively tiring him (and she has over 15 times as much health as you+ is much faster than you as she can catch you fleeing several times) and even if he killed her once, then she’d turn into Undying (since we only could skip this part because we killed her while she protected monster kid), so the total goes up to 24500 HP for Undyne. With Mettaton - his attack is only 90, but his DF is (according to official stats) 9, unlike Undyne’s 999, so yep, he isn’t stronger than her.

Friendly reminder that Chara does not possess you until the last hit on Sans and onwards. The player is the villain. There is no character to blame, just yourself. They are a child that sees their purpose as mass destruction because of the player.
There is evidence of Chara's kind nature in the pacifist route. They're the ones that provide memories of the past that comfort and inform Frisk and Asriel. As well as sacrificing themselves for their family to free them.

Her actions in the genocide run are from being corrupted by the player pretty much. She is a reflection that your actions in this game have consequences. She's the narrator throughout the whole game, but we see almost every m.c. use different text colors to emphasize different things.

In defense of our Heroine, all she knows is how horrible humanity is, even Gerson tells the player that the monsters have taken the Delta Rune to a grim light and I'm sure that's something that Undyne would do ANYTHING to prevent. She, Sans and Alphys are my three favorite characters of all time. Papyrus is pretty awesome too, I can only imagine that if you were to push him to the edge he'd REALLY be a force to be reckoned with. I mean even Undyne says he's pretty freaking tough.
@@Annie_Q_Encourages1989 actually there is an AU (alternate universe) called Disbelief. You dont even play the game it gives you the story up until the Judgment Hall and you have to fight Papyrus! He is WAY harder to beat than Sans. I can tell you that from just WATCHING it
