That’s a common opinion. However, the way the law looks at it is that if you are paying your child support, then you are doing your part to support the child. So if a mother has a child 80% of the time and a father has 20% but also pays child support to mother, the law considers both parents to be doing their part in supporting the child.

It should go on who has custody if they have 50 to 50 Custody they should both be able to and then who has the most time in custody should claim taxes
