Italian here, this game was massive when it came out back in 2010 The graphic novel was made by two of the best artists in the country, Paolo Mottura and Fabio Celoni Topolino itself is a massive 3500+ issue magazine which regularly comes bundled with disney themed statues, toys, cards, books, and more
4:55 I want to say that if Disney wanted to, they could have released the comic in English. The original manuscript adaptation by Peter David was already in English, Disney just refused to publish it. Because they pretty much never want their comics made known in their English speaking market for some reason (i will infinitely be annoyed by that lol) Aaand I think there is actually a pretty good chance that some of the comics will be reprinted when Rebrushed comes out! The publishers here in Europe work mostly independent from Disney and if they think they can get some money from this Epic Mickey hype, they will not leave it laying there. Also because most probably still have the comics laying in their archives, so it’ll cost them very little.
Yeah, I mean if a giant jug came down from the skies, the first thing I'd do is look up. I guess Oswald could make out Mickey in the hole above Wasteland
The Epic Mickey 2 graphic novel was not only exclusive to France and Italy, according to the Wiki it was also exclusive to Brazil. I even got a comic that promotes it. It's one of the few comics I want to own... mainly to boast it lol.
The first graphic novel as well as two of the Wasteland Tales were on comiXology too, and the second graphic novel was fully in English on Hoopla from Disney. I'm really sad that no one archived it. Even myself I was painstakingly screenshotting every Mickey comic book I could, but with my library card it only allowed me 5 books per months, and I was keeping the best, Epic Mickey 2, for last. And on precisely the last month when I was going to do it any day, the Disney license with Hoopla abruptly ended and it got taken down.
I had no clue that the EM2 Graphic Novel had a full English version released! It sucks that it wasn't properly archived, I appreciate your efforts, even if it was thwarted by Disney's licensing contract.
I honestly don't think Oswald's real-life story was as depressing as his story in Epic Mickey. Even after his series ended in 1939, Walter Lantz never forgot him. He had a life in comics for over twenty years, he made guest appearances in theatrical animation up until 1952, he had his own song on the 1957 record, _Woody Woodpecker's Family Album_ , he kept appearing on various forms of merchandise and was frequently mentioned in numerous books and articles.
When I was a kid I had a dream that Epic Mickey had a chapter book adaption completely unaware of the existence of a novelization 💀 this is insane to me
@@AnimationsDownUnder Perhaps. I find it petty and depressing how Oswald makes mechanical replicas of Donald and Goofy for friends as opposed to forming stronger bonds with other forgotten toons. I used to believe in my own headcannon that Toontown was created for forgotten toons besides those from Disney. I like to imagine Oswald's closest friends to be Flip the Frog and Andy Panda.
Keep a look out on the usual places like eBay and amazon, I found mine on abebooks (I think) but it doesn't look like they have it anymore. Just keep an eye out on online second-hand bookstores

Huh, I didn't know that the game was so big in Italy when it came out
So jealous of Italians, with their regular Mickey Mouse magazine (':
Back in 2019, I found The Art of Epic Mickey for 60 bucks on Amazon Japan. I’m a happy owner ever since that day.
Dang, I wish I had luck like that (':
Its like 2,000 dollars on Amazon In Canada used

Good point, it'd be awesome if they did that
3:13 One of my friends was upsettingly about how Oswald could know that. My answer was that he had a telescope, as seen in one of the panels.

cool, I'll have to make comment correcting that. Thanks for the info (:
I would like to read the novelization, but I can't find it anywhere.
I think it's on the internet archive, but you need a free account to read it
Oh yeah I remember reading these
I do own the Art Book, it came with an art print in an envelope, had no idea it was going for that much online, I bought it when it was new

Yeah, he had a long life at Universal, I don't think enough people give Walter Lantz the credit for keeping Oswald alive for those 80 years

Maybe you dreamed it into existence lol
@@AnimationsDownUnder it’s funny because I kept having dreams about an epic Mickey revival right before it happened I might be magic
Some people think the novelization of Epic Mickey was depressing. In my opinion, it's no more depressing than the game.
Yeah, it probably just seems more depressing in the novel since all the dark story elements aren't spread out between game levels.

I knew about the graphic novel but not about the tales of wasteland :0
The more you know!
5:51 yeah that aged badly
In the best way possible
I’m still waiting for EM2 Recharged
We've still got to wait for EM Rebrushed, so I think you might be waiting for a while 😅
