I bought this Sigma lens for my Sony A7cII as I thought that Sony's equivalent GM lens way too expensive, and I have not regretted it at all as my Sigma lens has now really opened my eyes 👀to Sigma's fantastic Art series lenses 👍
Compared to the previous version, If I’m shooting video on a Sony Alpha 7 IV; will the autofocus speed be that much faster on the II? First time purchaser; I don’t have the first version of the lens.
@@btonelli Appreciate the reply! Noticeably enough though from the older one you’d say? Or would you need to test them both side by side? It’s eating me alive because I really want to pull the trigger but an extra $300 (old one is $899; new one is $1199) I feel is a bit steep for something that may be minimal. I shoot a lot of low light video with considerable movement if that helps
Sometimes it makes you wonder why companies don’t go for internal zoom on these kind of lenses. The Sony GM 35mm F2.8 II is a very good example, it only extends roughly 1-1.5cm, so why not directly make it an internal zoom?
I have the Leica 24-70 on my SL2-S and considering the Leica 24-90; are the images that much better in the 24-90 or just longer reach? Size and weight increase aren't an issue.
Great review and video/sound. Thank you. 👍 I have read another review where they indicated that eye-focus was not very reliable. You say that focus was fine but what is your take specifically about eye-focus? 💁♂️
Leica just dropped the price of the SL2 to $4k and SL2-S to $4,200. Am considering picking one up along with this new Sigma lens. Is that a crazy idea in 2024? Which camera would you choose at those prices? Thanks for all you do Bobby!
I just got a Sony A7IV with the 28-70 kit lens. Been debating on getting the Mark II as my first lens purchase. Idk if I should say screw it and get it right now or wait for a bit
I went to the camera store to go pick up this version one lens when it came out and when I got there they sold out and they only had the 28 - 70 F 2.8 d g d n and I bought it for the sole purpose on returning it after I used it for what I needed coming up that week. But I fell in love with that little lens it's sharp and it focuses great and video on my Sony A7iv. But I do love Sigma lenses and these new lenses they've been coming out with are pretty impressive so maybe I might upgrade. I better hold off I just bought the M4 iPad Pro 13-inch with one terabyte and the week before I bought the DJI Avata 2 with the fly more kit. I better chill out and just make some money
what about the dust resistance ???? At Sigma 24 70 no1 was very easy to dust dots to came inside the glass, like ridiculous easy. Like , one walk at the park was enough..
I have the first 24-70 for my SL2-S and love it, but I like to shoot video once in a while, so the de-clicked aperture ring option would be great to have. I'll probably sell my first version and order the new one. If I do, I'll use your link. Thanks for all the great videos!
I think if you want to use this lens with a 6k bmpss there is no difference other than the price. In my country (Russia), the first model costs 100 thousand rubles, the second 150 thousand rubles. In other words, the price is 1.5 times higher. Provided that the bmpss film camera does not have autofocus, naturally I will take the first model because... Still limited on budget. And no, it’s not a matter of whether you’re a professional or not, it’s just that these lenses are really no different from each other. I understand if the new model were faster, then the update would make sense. And so... there's no point
Keep in mind this version also has a declicked aperture ring, if you’re shooting on a pocket cinema something like that can make or break a moving shot where you can’t control lighting as precisely as you’d want to
Thanks! This is my 15th video and I'm almost sold.

@@JessDemant indeed. Sigma lenses are really equal to and sometimes exceeding first party lenses
Try the Sigma 85 1.4 it is an insane lens !!! Small, light, fast and as sharp as the sharpest lens ever.
Nice review. I already purchased it and just waiting for it to be delivered by tomorrow. I am so excited. I sold my Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 G2 to buy it.
Thanks and congrats!
How are you finding the sigma against the tamron g2 after 3 months?

AF is faster. It’s a solid lens

I agree. Not sure why they do this.
To protect the $6,000 16-35 2.8 Cinema Glass which has a PZ

Great video, thank you. If you had the choice between this and the Lumix S PRO 24-70 for the same price. What would you go for?
Thanks. As good as the Lumix is I would prob go for the Sigma. It’s lighter and smaller
@@btonellithanks so much for!
Your sound is amazing Sir. If I may ask which mic are you using Sir ?
Countryman lav mic, recorded into zoom and then processed. With Auphonic and Audtion to enhance the highs.

These are very good deals! It’s tempting to say the least.
For me I like higher resolution but the SL2-S is a low light beast
I own the SL2-s and it’s a beast!

The de-clickable aperture ring for video is major selling point.
Would you recommend this for someone who is started into photography world or should buy previous version? I am going to use with a7c-||
The mark 1 didnt really make vertigo shots possible on sony camera's. Do you know if the mark 2 does it better?
Vertigo shots?
If this was available for Z mount would seriously consider picking it up. Just waiting for them to start with some Z FF glass.
I think Nikon like Canon is limiting third party to APS-C only for now

They refreshed this before the 28, 40, 105, and 135. Protecting other OEMs? I say yes.
Perhaps so. Seems odd they went here before the others
Thank you! Yes, I would buy it.
Thanks for watching
Chromatic Aberration is bad with this lens... Go for the Version 1's last version
I feel it’s well controlled. Bad is a bit dramatic. Every lens will have it to some degree unless it’s corrected in camera.
@@btonelli version 1 is the one that's well-controlled though, I mean the difference is big on white clothes on high contrast scenarios

Do you ever speak at a normal speed? It is often difficult to understand you, with the fast speak.
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. This is my normal speaking speed but you can slow down the video in TH-cam settings if that helps
Try the dude from DP journey, compared to him this is slow motion :-)
i think it’s not fast
I’m a Chinese in Hong Kong with English as my second language but the speed is fine with me.
You can always change the playback speed on youtube maybe you need 0.25X
