    I own both Sigma 28-70mm , 24-70mm lenses. The 24- 70 is bigger than the 28-70mm I have. They both offer sharp pic.s with great color. Yet I favor the 28-70mm as I shoot SeaScapes ! This lens seem ideal for slowing motion of water ! It's small to maneuver through gate holes taking pic.s . Yet both are great for traveling light / compact ! Place a CPL or ND on either and watch the magic at work ! You won't be disappointed !! Good Luck !!!

    I had both the 24-70 and the 28-70 ( L mount) and the 28-70 is amazing for traveling. Super light and just wide enough to capture interesting landscapes. I paired it with my Sigma FP and its a dream combo.

    Just got the new sigma after previously owning the 24-70 a year ago. Size and weight difference are massive improvements and I don’t notice the image quality difference. Compact size and weight are well worth purchasing this for a standard zoom.

    I have the Sigma 24-70 and think it's great. Two big advantages:
    I do think it's nice to have a professional looking lens if you're doing some professional shooting. Your client seems to feel more comfortable having hired you if your gear looks serious, haha. The Sigma Art looks like it was expensive!
    And yeah, it's just nice to have a 24mm. I travel a lot and I think I would miss 24mm if I didn't have it on my standard zoom. Sometimes you want to shoot a building, or shoot your friends/family in front of a building or some vast scenery, and 24mm does the trick. 28mm will often prove too tight for that kind of shot.

    • @ebinstechroom
      @ebinstechroom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, even though we know what our gear is capable of in a smaller foreign factor, clients just always like to see a bigger more expensive looking lens lol. Just makes them feel like we're more professional.

    I’ve had the Tamron in the past, and its awesome, compact, and has great autofocus. Now l own the 24-70 Art, and l think it’s great. The build quality is really what drew me to it. But... it is insanely heavy if you’re used to primes or Tamrons lenses. Just something to adapt your gear and yourself to!

      Love the Sigma 24-70, it's such a beautiful lens, its my workhorse lens for pretty much every job. However, it is a bit cumbersome when just going out for a bit of fun. May have to consider picking up the Sigma 28-70 as a more walk around lens with little compromise incase the situation arises where I'd want a decent lens.

    One thing regarding build quality you didn't mention that could be important to some: Tamron is weather sealed, Contemporary lens only has a mount gasket but is otherwise not sealed.

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah I didn’t get into the nitty gritty of that because I always find the documentation to be a bit vague but Tamron does mention that they’ve got several points of sealing compared to the contemporary being at the mount. Thanks for the extra addition!

    And yesss… friggin FINALLY someone is comparing colour-rendition of different lenses. Especially tamron and sigma had some lenses that had some weird yellowy colorcasts in skintones in the past, so thats HUGE! Thank you for that!

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like after I made this video I started noticing it even more too. It’s not usually a huge issue but it’s definitely there!

    • @m0nztam0nk
      @m0nztam0nk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dunnadidit the 28-70 leaning a bit more into blue is actually a slight benefit, as it matches the usually slightly cooler rendition of Sony-Glass. I really wish, more people when conparing lenses would also speak about color reproduction. I use them mainly for filmmaking and the cast can change wb by sometimes over 300k...that is significant and when mixing shots it means i have to tweak every shot individually as wb-differences just pop out more in film then in single pictures. I never found any online reference that simply shot a colorchart and a face with different lenses. Its especially infuriation when people complain about „colorscience“ from brand x being good/bad while not even realizing they used a heavy orange casting samyang lens on one body and top of the line G-master or L-Lens on the other...

    Having said all that, I’d go with (and have gone with) the Sigma 24-70. It’s unreal, I love the beefier construction, and I need to convince myself the price was worth it. Love the video, glad I found it, and I definitely subbed. 👍🏻

      Just posted my Tamron 28-75 G2 review last week! Unfortunately, I don’t have this lens around still to compare directly.

    I really LOVE all the Sigma ART lenses since i bought the old 35mm f1.4 DG HSM, the old, adapted dslr version haha. Thinking about selling this one, get de 35mm 1.4 DG DN and after that i guess it will be the allround "most of the time" 24-70 from sigma because.... like i said, love the art lenses! Also like the lens flare even if it is actually "worse" then the other 2, you can be creative with it!

    I got the Tamron for my wife who is just starting to get into photography. It was the weight difference and finding it in pristine condition on ebay that sold me of the three.

    For me who is getting started filming car commercials and races among other stuff, I need a slightly wide lens as well as a tight focal length. So for me, the Tamron is the best option because of that extra 5mm.
    Honestly think 28 is more than enough for me in the wide angle territory

      I'm trying to decide between the two. So it was that bothersome that you decided to switch? Are you happy with that decision and can't really tell the difference now? Or do you notice the differences?

    • @jaikavi5464
      @jaikavi5464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidChiriboga the two major factors are the weight and the wide end.
      You have to decide if you need that wide end and if you’re willing to bear the burden to have it. I wanted the 24mm but the weight killed it for me

    Great job! I do like the size of the Sigma Contemporary but I am very satisfied with the ouput of my Tamron so no need to switch , even for the weight savings, I think. Thank you for doing such a comprehensive comparison. I have to say your condo looks very bright , airy and tidy!

      I wouldn't switch any of them for any of them if I already owned one... if that makes sense. They're all great and the difference wouldn't be worth the effort of selling and buying. This coming from an Art owner.
