Ethiopia , officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa. It shares borders with Eritrea to the north, Djibouti and Somaliland to the northeast, Somalia to the east, Kenya to the south, South Sudan to the west and Sudan to the northwest. Ethiopia has a total area of 1,100,000 square kilometres (420,000 sq mi) and over 109 million inhabitants and is the 13th-most populous country in the world and the 2nd-most populous in Africa. The capital and largest city, Addis Ababa, lies several kilometres west of the East African Rift that splits the country into the African and Somali tectonic plates

In fact, there are 2 countries called Congo.
1)
DR Congo (Democratic Republic of Congo), with Kinshasa as the capital.
2) Republic of Congo with Brazzaville as the capital.
African Tigress went to DR Congo (Kinshasa).
Also DR Congo is about 8 times bigger with a much bigger population.
But the 2 countries used to be part of the same Kingdom. So they are the same people...

I'm Ethiopian living in Germany now. To be honest everyone in Europe seems pissed & unfriendly (including foreigners). So you can't see the real culture of people unless you actually traveled there.

Not until we can travel by road from countries like the Congo to Ethiopia African development and progression will be harder. I love flying but the benefit of road travel for development and integration over flying is immense.Ranching,animal husbandry, hotels/motels, petrol, gas stations etc. I think Africa should create a slogan like all roads lead to Ethiopia if that would help integrate the continent by road.Just imagine how beautiful the scenery from the Congo to Ethiopia by road that we don't get to see.Lovely though thank you. I miss the Congo somehow though. Thanks.

Addis Ababa is a great place to live if you can afford it I lived on Bole Road for a few months very nice great shopping and the taxi drivers. Are always willing to negotiate the price of being driven around,Addis Mekele is lovely,, but that bus journey crumbs I had to sleep for a while before going out.

African Tigress is it possible for you to visit some of the historical artifacts of Ethiopia? I know Ethiopia has castles and Churches dating back to the 14th century! I was amazed when you went to Kano Nigeria and you did not visit the Ancient city of Kano that was built in the 10th century .I have visited it once many years ago and I would have loved to see what it is like now .It was a spectacular sight . This would be like someone visiting England and not going to Buckingham Palace or Westminster Abbey that were built in the 17 and 10 century respectively!
