      The gmv is the Segway for robbing us of our constitutional and civil rights with threats by police with guns on the side of the road and anywhere else they can ask for it the driver's license as an ID.
      Driving is a privilege because driving is a commercial Act but traveling is not and all motorized vehicles that are not used to conduct Commerce or actually household appliances because they're for the purpose of visiting our friends and family and gaining sustenance.
      'Driving' was created for transported cattle which is regulated and that was sleuth fully imposed and applied to all motorized automobiles and because of Highways and interstates.... so the act of traveling diminished and that's where the paperwork started.
      Realistically it should only take a bill of sale as proof of ownership and a liability policy for Americans to have an automobile or classic car or whatever.... because without creating a victim there's no reason for jurisdiction or law to come in our lives and especially for generating Commerce.
      What goes along with the driver's license is a waiver of Rights and a contractual agreement based on the cliche:
      " driving is a privilege" which so many people just accept without really thinking about it.
      If we buy a car or whatever and we title it it's a beautiful title everything is about the state and our names are just typed in there and technically our name should be on the top so Florida as an example has stolen every car from people buy a bait and switch and the fact that they paid for it on record is in acceptance and that's why cops are destroying people because of a registration or a piece of plastic license or a plate that wasn't changed over even if they have liability insurance which is the frontman to screw us all and Deliver us to tyranny.
      Why should an American that's lived here their whole life before Stu get rid of their car because they can't have it in the yard without a plate or if they have been on record why should they keep have to renewing things because they don't guarantee the economy and administrative services are all inadequate as well as being open 925 which is our work hours... so the whole circumstance is harassment based on distrust Allowed by the stupid contract because everybody doesn't want to think for themselves.
      .... how many people have lost their muscle car because of a pot seed or a roach?
      That's a whole other subject but those cops make money and they're driving other people's cars now.
      It's a lot but I'm glad that this subject is being talked about with the titling because this is how they're screwing people and taking our rights away all through this paperwork.
      If I make money through my work and I buy something from somebody else why shouldn't I be able to just live my life without this garbage there's no reason for it.
      And if people are afraid that their cars going to get stolen then you put it on public record but don't let your rights get taken away!
      There's no valid excuse or reason for how difficult some of these circumstances with administrative tyranny are

    These loopholes have been around for a long time and can be done for several states. A long time ago I used to use a company called Olympic Title or something like that and they were in Michigan I think. It was also available from Maine as well. The car only had to be 11 years old though. The catch was you had to "Sell" them your car and pay them 150 bucks and provide a bill of sale. They would register the car in their state and then sell it back to you for the 150. You then took the registration to your local DMV and apply for title and Reg. They used to give me flak but when they would look it up they would do it. This was back before the good ole internet was big. I would buy older cars at auctions with no titles and get them this way. I think Maine would actually send you one year Tags but the registration was still in the business's name and you had to promise to switch it. Got some killer deals including a awesome 1987 Nissan Sentra with 20k. Crazy story on that one, old lady bought it and never registered it. Drove 2 years on paper plates! Then kicked the bucket and grand daughter got it and parked it for 12 years.

    Just a word of additional advice to anyone thinking of this from someone who has had to obtain titles for cars more than a few times - there are things you should check BEFORE you even consider handing over cash in most states:
    1)Check NICB for stolen records on your phone. This one is obvious, but you can do it quickly and online.
    2)Check for LEINS! Unscrupulous sellers will attempt to sell a car as "no title" because they took out a Title Loan against it. Many states allow you to do this online now. Fun fact, if there is an outstanding lien on a car you can expect a legal battle for various reasons with the car's title.
    3)Check for VIN stampings on the car. Many states require a stamped VIN in addition to door tags on older cars when an inspection is done to convert your Vermont registration to another state's title. If there is no VIN *STAMPED* on the car, walk away because you will run into a heap of red tape in many states when you attempt to title in state.
    And last but probably most important:
    Don't pay anywhere near full value for a car with no title. You are assuming all the risk, demand a price that reflects that.

      @getchasome6230 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I've bought cars with no title before, bought some parts for it, then used the receipts for the parts to file a mechanics lein against the owner. In my state the mechanics lein overrides any previous liens or anything. Clean clear (salvage due to inspection) title.

      I did check all of that before I made the purchase just to be cautious. I had no idea what I was going to faced with simply because the registration on the vehicle had lapsed. My story is posted elsewhere. I will only say that if I had known what I was going to go through, I would have passed on my car. In fact, now that I know that the California DMV is staffed by incompetents and the state is basically a giant extortion racket, I would never have even thought about registering a classic in this place. I would have done this Vermont thing and included my brother on the title and stored it in Pennsylvania at his place.

    I'm going to do this from now on and so will all of my gearhead friends. PA is an absolute nightmare when it comes to titles. You don't know the half of it. Rated worst in the entire country along with the horrible roads. Fun Fact: PennDot has more lawsuits against them than any other DMV in the country because of the horrible road conditions and for all the unnecessary garbage they spray on the roads during the winter. This is why you can't drive anything nice in PA.

    • @googleusergp
      @googleusergp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Back in 1999 when I needed to get old title information for my 1979 Trans Am, Penn DOT was very helpful. I think it cost $5 for a title abstract and they sent me a bunch of information in a couple of days. Same with MD DMV. It was very helpful with tracking down the history of my car. I know that PA requires notarized titles. When I bought my car in PA and registered it in NY, it was easy. NYS isn't bad with titles and registrations. I swapped over three cars in 20 minutes from my mother's estate in 2017 with a trip to DMV. Walked out with new plates, registration, etc. and turned in the old plates on one trip. The classics I own had to be done by mail, but NYS DMV's Vintage Historical unit was great and even let me keep the plates on the car (which were original to the car in some cases) with a signed statement by my uncle who was the executor of my mother's estate. It was pretty smooth with the right paperwork.

      @@Whats-It-To-Ya NYS would just require a VIN tracing with forms if no paperwork is available. My coworker has a 1964 GTO that he bought around 1972 in Queens, NY where he lives and maybe last registered about 1980. He never knew it, but the VIN was wrong on the paperwork all of those years. Fast forward to about two years ago and his son's ex wife and him get into it and he gets thrown off the property. She sells the car and it winds up on Ebay. It was a whole what to do for my coworker to get it back. We wound up connecting the trim tag to the Pontiac Historical Services paperwork somehow and proving the VIN was a digit off. I think he's since corrected it. The good news is the car is back in his possession and is on the way to being restored. I told my coworker to never give up on it and I'm glad he didn't. He was so upset about it, he never wanted to talk about it on business trips that we'd both go on. I kept telling him, "We'll find a way to get it back. It will turn up". Sure enough it did.
      I even offered to store it for free on my property for him, but he's since gotten a place to put it. As a thanks, he gave me a Craftsman and Snap On toolbox and some tools that he had at his mother's house because he has to clear it out to sell it. It was like a treasure trove of vintage stuff.

Did it through my state of NC The DMV officer comes out checks out the car and gives papers to sign. Fill out paperwork which includes who you bought it from etc, your insurance company, a bond 1/2 the value of the car. DMV officer came back about 2 weeks later with a new vin plate before papers even filed. Then they checked the paperwork and ok'd it. Got new plates at the DMV when submitted the paperwork and just waiting for the new title to arrive. Total cost about $150. DMV officer very nice, visited twice and myself there once. Titles are simply another part to locate when restoring your classic car. It happens the exact same way those original rally wheels got lost. The title is lost w/time & several owners. It happens the same way your classic cars engine gets roasted by a faulty carb. The title gets burnt in a fire. It happens the same way your hood or trunk lid gets rust holes in them. A mouse or water was involved. You can buy new rally wheels from a nice seller at a swap meet & you can get titles from bureaucrats. Sadly, most DMVs don't care about classic cars & don't realize titles get lost with enough time like anything else. In my experience it's never nefarious but they treat you like a criminal, nonetheless.

    Tony, cop here…if a stolen car was ever entered into NCIC (database we use to check vins, serial number of stolen items, firearms, even missing person) it SHOULD remain in NCIC forever unless recovered. When I’ve done vin verifications for people we run them via NCIC and that is satisfactory for us in PA.
    Also I do audits of our departments NCIC entries monthly. I can vouch for items remaining in NCIC for 30+ years (stolen gun never found or recovered for example)

    • @phoenixrising4573
      @phoenixrising4573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NCIC does not retain a car or article indefinitely, only the gun file. Article is shorter than the car NCIC file. If I remember right, cars and articles can be extended if they're missing person/felony vehicles, but I haven't done the validations side in a few years.

    Disclaimer for anyone who lives in California and wants to do this: California will give you a “non-transferable registration” when you transfer the registration from Vermont to California without a title. If you want a California title, you must provide the most recent title. In my case, the title was void because it was signed and dated incorrectly, and based off the date would have cost me a lot of late fees. I handed over that title after doing the registration and did get a California title. If I had no title, I wouldn’t have been able to get a title in California without applying for one from the car’s home state. If the car was last titled in California this part may be complicated, I’m not sure what you would need to do at that point

    • @samuelitohinson5679

    Question: If you buy an old car from someone with no title or paperwork of any kind and it hadn't been registered for a long time, how would you or the Vermont DMV know if it had a salvage title?

    This loophole closed unfortunately but there is still a few options dealing with this. The previous owner has the ability to file for a lost title, if you trust them to do so. Also if you know someone with a junkyard they can get a title.

    Actually, a legit recycler/junkyard MUST provide a VIN with any part purchase, per federal law. I just redid my MO state inspector license, and they were very specific about this. That said, if a car is in the junkyard, in (MO/IL for sure) it is currently titled as "JUNK" and it is almost impossible to re-title as anything else. Just FYI

      If the car has been in the yard for a long time I doubt they will find that status. Also, does Vermont check all 50 states to find the previous title? Even though the new owner is from TN that doesn't mean the car wasn't form CA.

    • @CR7659
      @CR7659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The State has an obligation to make sure it is not issuing a void title.
    When a title is asked for, the state actor must not issue a title without first verifying that the hand that is presenting the paperwork, to let the state actor examine it, is the hand of a "person" (a 14th amendment "citizen"). Such a "person" is defined as "one that is sworn in as an office holder". How does a "person" happen, you ask. There's a specific oath. An official oath only comes about, and can only be be validated, if it in writing, properly sworn to, and filed in the proper way, at the proper place and at a specific time, prior to handing the state actor the paperwork, spoke about hereinabove. Moreover, the timely proper oath, had to be autographed before a "official". That particular official must be an officer that is not misrepresenting that they are a government official, i.e. notary public.
    How did things get so distorted? Some of us didn't pay close attention to detail, when we were first offered the opportunity to view the movie "The wizard of OZ".
    If you don't get it, keep looking!

    I live in Indiana, and it used to be super easy to get a title for an old car: Fill out a few forms (similar to the ones in this video), have a cop check the VIN (cost $5 to have them come to your house), done. Sometime in the last ten years, they changed this process: Now you have to trailer the car to some specific location on a _single specific day_ of the month at a specific time (between 1-3pm, if I recall) for _one specific person_ to look at the car and verify the VIN. It's ridiculous (and basically impossible if you have a job and/or don't own trailer).
    This method was looking promising to get around this nonsense until the NADA value part. I bought an old shell car for $500. Looked up the NADA value and it's $7,000! That means I'd be paying basically the same price in taxes as I paid for the car. Seems like values should be based on the condition of the car and not just the model. This video is still good info to have, though.

      That's where I'm lost at. I've had a roadrunner shell for 40 years I need a title for. I'm thinking the NADA value is around 50k.

    • @NoName-ik2du
      @NoName-ik2du 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradleynelson5915 - That's nuts. I'm guessing on these older cars, the only thing they have to go on for value is the occasional collectors' auction where a fully restored or heavily modified vehicle is sold for a crazy high price.
      I'm tempted to just put the value I paid as the NADA value and enclose a picture of the car as the proof of value so they can see it's obviously just a rusty gutted piece of metal and not a multi-thousand dollar vehicle. (After all, Blue Book values don't apply to an inoperable car, so why would the NADA values?) Worst case scenario, Vermont rejects the forms and I wasted twenty minutes of my time filling them out and 40¢ on the stamp to send them.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradleynelson5915 ... doesn't have to be NADA. Could be any of the others like Kelly Blue Book or Edmonds. Some insurance companies also have value listings (Haggerty, JC Taylor, etc) for antique vehicles. I suspect most any printed version of similar vehicle might be accepted for comparison. You might also print out the value for a 2 door Plymouth or Dodge of the same year because a RR is basically a trim level.

Owner cracked the block cause they used water as coolant. Buddies neighbor bought it and owned it ever since without a title I guess I don't know how he registered it after putting another motor in it. I bought my 97 mustang GT for $500 no title... No worries.
    For $75 I went through a bond agent. It had a lien from a title pawn outfit.. I claimed it as abandoned, charged $45 per day storage for a year which came to well over 13K. The title pawn forfieted the lien and I had a legal title in 6 weeks. That was 3 years ago and she's been my daily since then. $500 mustang. 😁

    I just did this to title my 2000 VW New Beetle! I now have Vermont plates on my car!! Got it via Bill of Sale only and now have the vermont plates. They only give 1 license plate sticker, and it goes on the bottom right of the rear license plate.
    Keep in mind that if you do not have a vermont vehicle inspection on the car, it is technically not legally licensed for driving in Vermont with those tags, so keep in mind that you need to get a vermont state inspection the instant you start driving the car in/through vermont if you use this process and actually use the Vermont license plates.
