  • Todays cars and trucks are coming with thin paint and you have to be very careful when doing anything with the paint. Doing a paint correction without a paint gauge could spell disaster. If you have thin paint I'm going to show you a great option to make the paint look great without removing any or very little clear coat at all.

    Great advice Brian!! I have the same gage & won't work on a vehicle without it. 👍🏼🇨🇦

    Great video Brian. I never really thought about paint thickness, especially since I enjoy taking care of my wife’s Cherokee and my Ram and figured, hey new vehicles, paint is plenty thick enough. Will definitely get a gauge now, thanks to your vid.

      Thank you! All I own is Mopar also and the paint on mine and all others I have used it on it is usually plenty thick enough.

      @@FABAutomotiveDetailing thanks for letting me know about the thickness on Mopar paints Brian. I’ll hold off for now on the paint meter but seeing how we plan on keeping these vehicles for quite a while, it would probably be a good investment down the road.

    Great video . But be aware that on some Ford paints the nextptg paint gauge shows a lower paint thickness than the real thickness. On my Ford s-max gen2, the nextptg paint gauge shows 30 microns less than what other paint gauges show. This has been confirmed by customer service at Nexdiag nexptg that it measures errors in some Ford Paint types.
    So recommend checking with another paint gauge from another brand to confirm that the measured paint thickness is correct

      understood at Nexdiag that it was quite rare for this to happen. Only 1 type of carpaint with possibly the same production year.
      it may happen that it only applies to the car paint that I have on my Ford s-max 2017. I am waiting for a reply from them if they have found a solution.@@FABAutomotiveDetailing

    Great tip, Brian! One quick question: after you let it cure for 24 hours and then go over it with panel prep/IPA, how much of the gloss do you lose, and how many of the scratches that were previously covered over are now more visible again? Thanks for all you do!

      Good question

    • @FABAutomotiveDetailing
      @FABAutomotiveDetailing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I go over it with a 13% IPA panel wipe. The gloss stays the same and I have never noticed any imperfections emerge after wiping. It’s really to just remove dust and any heavy polish residue I may have missed when wiping off. 13% is a very weak mixture. Hope this helps

    Is this product similar to the CarPro Essence? I have heard that it fills the clear coat to repair imperfections and then after it cures, a ceramic coating can be applied.
