Hi Steve- I've been making this recipe for Keto-Aid for quite a while- a little bit different from your recipe. I use 6 cups of filtered water, 2 T of ACV, 2 T of magnesium powder (I use Natural Calm) 1/2 t of no salt, 1/4 t. of pink salt, 1/4 cup of sweetener- (I use Swerve powdered sugar) and 2 juiced lemons. Shake really good in your jug and drink. I seems to work really well and has eliminated my leg cramps. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you for the breakdown on making this in bulk and using the food processor.Ive got to do this! I have recently purchased all those True Citrus Packet flavors in bulk and enjoying them.
What a great recipe, especially for when it gets really hot in summer. The entire family could use it then, not just the ones doing keto, and it would save a lot of money.
Last week I saw you mentioned Snake Juice on a Live. I got all the ingredients and made a batch. I’m tweeking the flavoring to see what I like. Thank you so much for the bulk recipe as this is what I’ll be doing!! Saves so much time! BTW I made only 24 hours on my Fast. That makes 6 this month!! (I IF daily now for over 4 years)
Thank you Steve, this is just what I needed. I've been using a premade keto friendly electrolyte replacement for years, but at 50 bucks a month, it adds up. With this recipe, I can make a ton for the same price!!! You're the best 🎉
$50 should pretty much buy you a lifetime supply of this. If you're making it in bulk, I do recommend desiccant packets, especially if you're using True Lemon or True Lime powder. The will keep it from clumping. I use these: amzn.to/3RVMe27
Thank you so much, this comes in handy for my fast right now and it tastes pretty good even without sweetener. I made 1 liter bottle to try with one pack of tru lime and I'll try it with my soda stream next :)
THANK YOU, Steve!!!! I just threw out a bunch of LMNT. I didn’t realize how it was affecting my diabetes. And THANK YOU so much for your transformation series. Just caught it this morning for the first time and you’ve inspired me to get back on the wagon. Weight loss is so very difficult for me and I think I was just going about it wrong, not getting to the root of it.
Thank you Steve for this video and my husband thanks you for saving us money! I have been purchasing my electrolytes which as you know can get quite pricey. 🥰
Just after watching your video i have placed order of these 4 minerals after 2day i will prepare this beautiful mixture inshallah. I will update after results
Thanks again Steve you rock !!!! I made your mix but I put 1/3 cup of Calm flavored in one and did another batch for fasting without it your way !! Hi to the family.
Thanks Steve ... this is something I can really use. I can really use those flavorings ... been using Crystal Lite to flavor my Kefirs, Yogurts, and drinks. This product will be a lot healthier.
Thanks Steve- a concoction like this actually saved my life about 36 years ago or so... good to see it's still a valued tool in wellness. Enjoy the rest of the fast! And see you next time
I had received my order of SALTT couple days ago and love it. I like to make Sole water to help with sodium. I like your recipe due to all the electrolytes are represented. Thank you
Love this!! I do love LMNT so much but the cost is just crazy high! I found a recipe for several of their packets on THEIR website which I thought was odd. Thanks for sharing Steve!!
Steve, thanks for sharing an easy, affordable way to make electrolyte drinks. Your Pink Floyd shirt was an extra bonus! The Colorado Floyd tribute band concerts that I love to attend are a unique, psychedelic, no drugs required experience.
Thanks for this! I have been taking a PK electrolyte capsule at bedtime to prevent overnight leg cramps. It works! I also drink some version of electrolyte drink during the day; LMNT, Saltt, or Keto Chow Minerals in ice tea1x/day.
So I made this (actually still waiting for my lemon and lime powder) with 1/2 tsp allulose (Lakanto allulose/monk fruit powder) and it's good. It got me thinking, though . . . I've been (separately) making switchel (apple cider vinegar, ginger and honey), cold-brewed green tea and coffee (all in two quart mason jars). I think I'm going to try adding all the ingredients for this and the switchel (subbing honey for allulose) to my green tea and/or coffee. If nothing else, it would cut down on the number of half-gallon mason jars in our fridge (which my wife would greatly appreciate). So, the snake juice recipe above minus the water, plus: 4 TBSP ACV 1 TBSP Ginger 2 quarts cold-brewed green tea (or coffee) (for those of you who aren't strict Keto, add 2-4 TBSP of raw, unfiltered honey - the health benefits of honey outweigh the carb-count, IMHO and my fasting glucose is 80-90 with two to four tablespoons per day. Also - WARNING - apple cider vinegar, ginger, allulose and Epsom salts aid digestion and gut health, but consuming large quantities throughout the day can lead to gastrointestinal discomfort of the explosive variety. Moderation in all things). I'll let you know how it turns out.
@@SeriousKeto It works! My True Lemon and Lime came in the interim and I added them along with Snake Juice and Switchel ingredients to my cold-brewed green tea. Still has the saltiness, but the tea (and lemon/lime) completely masks the ACV smell and taste. Very refreshing! Two (three) birds with one stone, so to speak. Speaking of stones, a caveat to this would be the diuretic effect of the caffeine in the tea (depending on how long/strong you brew it) might be detrimental if you flush out too much liquid leaving the salt from the snake juice in your system (kidneys) perhaps? Your thoughts?
I use saltpeter now, potassium nitrate, instead of potassium citrate. Test at high level nitric oxide. The extra wood is annoying, but since nitric oxide is by far the #1 risk factor for heart attack, I tolerate it. @5g potassium/d so I can crank the sodium chloride 7.5+ and maintain homeostasis.
Ok Steve, only you and I can see this post, no one else. When you put your container in the fridge my ingredient policeman sirens went off (especially that miracle whip, Ugh! 🤢) but then I realized you are the only Keto person in your home, so I breathed a sigh of relief. My wife works in a doctor's office, big pharma doctor's office, and the doctor I occasionally see in that office said to my wife, something close to, "Oh sure, you'll lose weight on Keto, but once you stop, you'll gain it all back." And my wife has said that to me several times, and it just dawned on me how asinine that thinking is! It's like saying, OK, if you eat healthy and lose weight, then go back to eating cake and ice cream you'll just gain all that weight back. I guess I'd never considered how stupid (to me) that thinking is! I've heard other sensible doctor's (mostly chiropractors I think) say that you don't want to get healthy so you can go right back to what made you sick / fat in the first place. But that's the thinking of this doctor I know personally. 🤯 🙄 Thanks for letting me rant.
That's a common refrain amongst the anti-keto people. But the same could be said of any dietary lifestyle and it seems rather self-evident - if you go back to eating like crap, you're going to gain weight and have health issues. You could say the same thing about exercise. You could say the same thing about playing guitar or any skill. "When you quit practicing, you're going to quit being good at it."
Awesome! I've gotta try this. I didn't know I could do lemon or lime juice without breaking a fast. I've been doing a 5 day water fast during the week and eating Keto on weekends the last month. While I'm water fasting I'm doing Ultima electrolyte powder, but need to supplement that with 1/2 Tsp of Himalayan and 1/4 tsp No Salt. So the Ultima is really just expensive flavoring. Also taking the magnesium in pill form currently. I'm saving a bunch on food costs right now obviously. This will save a ton on buying drink powder and it's got everything. Thanks for the tip
Before KETO my favorite beverage was strawberry lemonade - I use lemon juice and strawberry LookAid powder. When I made this recipe I used lemonade and looked on the KoolAid package and used some of that "powder". It sure helped the taste.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have a simple formula for an electrolyte drink that has been approved by my doctor AND is right for me. I use a quarter teaspoon of Morton’s Lite Salt in 12 ounces of water with an added zero calorie flavoring. I already take magnesium supplements twice daily (magnesium L-threonate, magnesium glycinate) so I’m not looking for that in my electrolyte drink. Some people panic about potassium in lite salt, but potassium is an electrolyte and found in commercial electrolyte beverages. Most people don't get enough potassium in their diets. A quarter-teaspoon serving of one potassium chloride salt substitute contains about 800 milligrams (mg) of potassium, or about one-sixth of the daily recommended intake for potassium, which is 4,700 mg. This beverage is my only daily use of lite salt…or any salt for that matter. Obviously, you should do as I did: Check with your physician and have your levels checked via a blood panel as often as recommended. What I am doing is right for me…perhaps not right for others.
Potassium is hard to get in your diet - especially if you're doing keto. If you look at the actual percentages in most potassium supplements, it's usually around 2% of the recommended amount per capsule/tablet.
Thanks for the recipe and video. I'm thinking about trying this when my KetoChow runs out. Question: Do you think it would be OK to swap out the Himalayan Salt with Redmonds Real Salt? If so, equal amounts?
ank you Steve I wondered if I could make my own electrolytes (I am always very low potassium due to my illness) and thank you for doing this video I am definitely making this today!...I truly never thought to even look on Google or anything....Julianna
Cool thank you for sharing! I was looking at pre-made supplements and wow, pretty expensive. I can handle doing this. Nice Floyd shirt too!! Welcome to machine! When you put in the processor, did you use the blade attachment? I have a plastic one for kneading, and a metal one so wasn’t sure if yours was plastic or metal?
You can also add any keto-friendly liquid water enhancement drops if you want a different flavor besides lemon-lime (which I have a mental block about because that's what my mother gave us as sick kids LOL)

@SeriousKeto that too. Though cafe rio has a limeade with mint that I would occasionally spend some insulin on. (T1D) I did enjoy a nice mojito once in a while as well.
I just passed your recipe and video link to a friend starting keto. I'm just not certain she's the kind of gal to appreciate Cole Robinson's charms. But you're more or less me with tattoos. ;-)
i make switchel. aka haymakers punch. it seems to work alright and tastes pretty good. though i make it a bit strong and then add 1 pt switchel to 2 parts sparkling water. makes a soda that good for me. :D cheers!
Baking soda = sodium bicarbonate, sea salt = sodium chloride, epsom = magnesium sulfate, and No Salt = potassium chloride and potassium bitartrate. All the electrolytes you need for homemade "gatorade"!
Not for nothing but since this video, I have made this every day! thank you! I had to purchase "food grade" epson salt from amazon because in my head, I'm like - the stuff i soak my feet in? --- but it's so good with or without adding sugar. I am not sure about others, but it reminds me of coconut water for some reason. I am guessing it's ok to drink this every day?
@@SeriousKeto I do need to set up a yearly physical, but historically - never been told that. BTW - thanks for all your videos and the contributions you make to keto and your life. It's much appreciated. I know it takes tons of time and effort even for the short videos. Blessings to you and your family.
LOL, I just ordered some electrolytes and this morning you do this video. 😄 My only problem, I don't have room for a pitcher in my fridge. Off topic, I see you have a Dreo. How do you like it?
There's not a one size fits all answer. Body weight, metabolism, whether you're fasting or not, do you have hypertension, what your specific body needs in terms of minerals all play a factor. Each person needs to dial it in for themselves and find the right amount that is enough to keep energy levels up and keep from having muscle cramps, but not so much as to cause diarrhea.
I was waiting for the story behind the name "snake juice"!?!😂 never heard that nick name before... figured there musta been a funny family story that gave it that name?
@@SeriousKeto I just discovered one. Do you remember the "spaghetti noodles" that seemed more like a science experiment than a recipe? The calcium lactate from that is used for hypocalcemia. And I have some! 😁
Thanks for this, I really needed it. However, I don't have room for a pitcher in my fridge. How much of your bulk mix would you suggest for a single serving?
I think throughout the day is best. I find that if I hit the electrolytes too hard in one "dose", it has a bowel loosening effect on me. (sorry if that's TMI)
I’ve been using a commercial product, but my budget is urging me to try this, so THANKS! for sharing.

@@rjrnj1 The baking soda and the pink Himalayan salt are both forms of sodium. The "No Salt" is the potassium.
Absolutely, unless your doctor has told you to avoid sodium due to hypertension.
@@SeriousKeto I do need to set up a yearly physical, but historically - never been told that. BTW - thanks for all your videos and the contributions you make to keto and your life. It's much appreciated. I know it takes tons of time and effort even for the short videos. Blessings to you and your family.
🎉cool. Thanks Steve😊
Amazing! TY for sharing!
Wouldn’t the “True lemon” powder break a fast though? It has sugar and carbs
It has neither. Look it up.
Does cream of tartar could replace the baking soda?
Thank you Steve for sharing!
It’s not my recipe, so I don’t have an answer.
Ok ! Thank you anyway 🙂
I've never heard of this...thank you. I take supplements but this would be a better, and cheaper, route.
Good Luck to you and Rabbit-Rabbit.
LOL, I just ordered some electrolytes and this morning you do this video. 😄 My only problem, I don't have room for a pitcher in my fridge. Off topic, I see you have a Dreo. How do you like it?
The review will be coming on July 10th. I still need to put it through some more tests.
Thank you for sharing Steve. Wondering if there's a limit on the amount you're suppose to drink per day? 😊
@@SeriousKeto Thanks for the reply. No medical issues.
Great video!
I was waiting for the story behind the name "snake juice"!?!😂 never heard that nick name before... figured there musta been a funny family story that gave it that name?
I didn't research where the name came from or where the recipe originated. It might be interesting...
@@SeriousKeto ooooooooh! I totally thought that was just your own name for it! 😂 sorry for the assumption. anyone else out there know the story?
Thanks. I had to come back to check the ratio of baking soda lol
Thanks for sharing
I have a bag of the Epsom salt, but it says it expired in 2019. Would you use it?
Its already a million years old
@@heartsparkdollar LOL touché
I’m pretty sure minerals don’t expire. 😉
@@SeriousKeto I was wondering how they could.
Buddy!! PINK FLOYD!! 🤟🤟🤟
Definitely trying this. Much cheaper version of any electrolytes in looking at. Any suggestions for adding calcium to it?
I don’t have a recommendation for that. Maybe someone else will chime in.
It would be between 1/3 tsp and 1/2 tsp.
@@SeriousKeto Thank you 🧡
Is this something you can drink throughout the day. Or is this like morning/night
I think throughout the day is best. I find that if I hit the electrolytes too hard in one "dose", it has a bowel loosening effect on me. (sorry if that's TMI)
@ hahaha not much at all. Thanks for the info
Sorry if I missed this. If you make the bulk powder, what is the amount used in 2L of water? Thanks for the video. Hope your long fast is going well.
1 tablespoon
