I'm using this recipe to make Blue Cheese dressing and I have come up with a procedure that makes my life a little easier, and I thought I would share it. 1. Buy some wide mouth 16 oz mason jars 2,. Pour one cup of heavy cream into the mason jar and mark the jar with a sharpie - never dirty a measuring cup again. Or just use the 1 cup mark built into the mason jar if you trust that to be accurate. 3. Add salt and pepper to taste and 2 tsp of vinegar 4. Put lid on and shake till frothy - Never dirty a bowl or whisk again 5. Add ½ a blue cheese container 6. Use a stick blender to break up the blue cheese and mix it with the cream. Stop when you get to your desired thickness 7. Pour in remaining blue cheese and stir in with a tablespoon. You may need to do this in small batches to make sure it all fits. 8. Put lid on and toss in the fridge. Way less stuff to clean up. And to clean the blender... Put a glass in the sink. Add dish soap and hot water. Run the immersion blender on high for 30 seconds to clean the inside where the blades are. Pull it out and wash the outside with a soapy sponge. Rinse off and throw in dish rack to dry.
I'm as old as dirt - and my mother ALWAYS made cream/vinegar dressing for both cucumber salad (cukes from the garden, of course) and garden lettuce salad. It was on the menu almost every single night during the summer. Now why I never thought to try that mixture on my daily salad, I do not know! Thanks for bringing this back out of my old memory bank!
This is one of the few videos where someone uses very common ingredients. This means it will be cost effective and we're not spending unnecessary amounts of time making it. Well done!
Milk + lemon juice is a way to make sour cream or buttermilk, so using heavy whipping cream + vinegar is basically the same thing - only thicker; especially if you refrigerate it overnight. The process that this uses is called 'clabbering'.
I stopped eating salad because of the salad dressings out there on the market (even the Keto ones). The dressing recipes I've tried from Keto youtubers in the past were just too much, but as soon as I saw this video, I made the Ranch version just using the herbs I already had in my pantry. Honestly, the best salad dressing I've ever had, so easy and quick! This is literally an answer to my prayer! Thank you so much for all the work you do to share your recipes, tips and tricks. They are much appreciated!! God Bless Serious Keto!!
The best recipe, actually an idea, that I ever got from Jacques Pepin was what he calls "Fridge Soup." Whenever you stand in front of your open refrigerator trying to decide what to make for a meal, and you find small amounts of lots of leftovers like cooked meat, cooked veggies, raw veggies that are going to go bad if you don't use them soon, and salad greens, etc., take every thing out and dice it into bite-sized pieces. Put it all into a pot with whatever broth or stock you have. If you have none, add water and some bouillon cubes/packets. Add whatever dried spices you want, such as oregano, basil, thyme, salt, pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the raw veggies are tender. Taste for seasoning and adjust. There you have it---Fridge Soup! Genius! This is a super way to use up all of your leftovers, and you can call it "high cuisine" because the technique comes from such a respected chef as Jacques Pepin!
I just made this easy heavy cream/vinegar salad dressing. Fantastic recipe! It was delicious with just S&P, cream, vinegar, but adding homemade Ranch seasoning took it to a new level. Wow! Can't wait to make it more ways. TY for sharing something so clean, easy, quick to make and delicious! I love all you share, your experiments on yourself, in the kitchen and watching your reactions. Your facial expressions readily reveal your thoughts and it's cool to see that. I began keto a few weeks ago - well started and am still learning a lot - from watching you and recently got my Keto MoJo from your lead. Learning more each day. Thanks again for everything!
I learned how to make this dressing from Jacques Pepin. He said it was a standard dressing growing up and he continues to make it to this day. I love it and if you think about it, your only calories are in the whipping cream. Oil based dressings have a lot more calories.
What I love about this is versatility in small amounts. I get tired of salads because day after day the dressing is the same. I mean, who wants to throw away half of a bottle of store bought salad dressing because you are just plain sick of it? With this recipe I can easily change up my dressing so my salads don't become "boring". Thanks!
This was an excellent video. This was exactly what I was looking for. Here I’ve been stressing this whole past hour looking for the perfect keto dressing, and now I have a simple/doable trick in my back pocket. Thanks so much for making this video.
I didn't really like the primal dressing, I was really disappointed it had a plastic old taste to it, and it was not out of date. I literally threw it in the garbage. I would rather have just had oil and vinegar.
I just made this and it is DELICIOUS! I wanted to try for a ranch dressing flavor. I am so impressed with how flavorful and easy this is! Thank you so much for sharing! I used: 1c organic HWC Salt & pepper (eyeballed it) 2tsp organic raw unfiltered ACV 2 cloves minced garlic (I use a narrow microplane grater) 1.5-2 tbsp organic fresh minced dill Approx 1 Tsp Greek seasoning Approx 1/2 cup fresh grated parm
My mother used to make my father a vinergarette dressing every night for his salad. He would take that and add mayo to it to make a creamy dressing. Since starting keto I've been eating so much salad but was having a difficult time finding dressing that were keto but taste good. So, I've been making my own vinegarette with avocado oil, vinegar and mayo! Tastes so much better. I'm going to try your way tonight! Thanks for another great idea!
This is great! I’m 77yrs old and I bet I’ve only bought 3 bottles of store bought salad dressing in my life. I didn’t like any of them. So I’ve been making dressing for years but mostly olive oil based. I make mayo (also for decades) and use that for creamy dressing……but this is really fast and I always have heavy cream in the fridge. So I’m sure it will be my new mainstay. Change up will be with homemade sour cream. Thanks a million. We need fast, simple recipes that taste good. Some keto stuff is a bit disgusting ( IMHO). Especially bread items. 🤨
@@SeriousKeto swap the vinegar for lemon juice, add a dash of Worcestershire and dijon, and the parm and pepper of course... And then it won't kick your teeth in with the mayo flavor. (Although, now that I'm making your homemade mayo instead of using Hellman's, that doesn't sound nearly as unappetizing as it used to!)
When you really like something your face lights up. All the older ladies in my family made this simple dressing , it’s the one I grew up with. Now please teach people how to make Hollandaise sauce. It’s so Keto, takes 10 minutes, and works great with an immersion blender, or whisk if you’re old school.
GreenEyes- Hollandaise is my go-to flavor indulgence while eating keto. I make a batch, freeze it in an ice cube tray and use the blocks one at a time on eggs, steak, veggies, quiche, or whatever I want to sauce it up. They melt so quickly. A quick stir in a small dish after a minute in warm water to soften and it is good to go! Yumm!
So per your podcast the other day before you go to Hawaii.......I am going back to see videos that I have & have not seen. WOW! I am going to make this dressing right now. And good idea....add sweetener 7 celery seed=coleslaw. I love your recipe videos...keep it up. PS Hope you are enjoying Hawaii!
What can I say? Easy to make, delicious, & lower in calories, carbs, & price that my boughten buttermilk dressing. I certainly will be making this again & again.
OK so this will help me immensely on my weight loss journey at 57 to get my health back so i can enjoy the next 20 years! Thanks for the tips! I spent most of my early years at 180 lbs. with no regard for anything. I am now at 240 lbs. Your channel is one of my go to pages. Oh and since I am not really a Keto specific eater I found that a Teaspoon of half and half goes great with the Bleu Cheese recipe for texture that I prefer. I love it and thank you!
Brookville Hotel in Abilene Kansas uses this made with cider vinegar and sugar for their coleslaw recipe. Brookville has the best fried chicken dinner anywhere in the country.
So simple, so easy. Cannot wait to try this. Steve, you are the first source for my KETO recipes, information and advice. Please continue to provide this type of useful and important content. You are helping to make a lot of people a lot healthier.
I have made this a couple of times and simplified it even further. Add all ingredients to a jar and shake until you get the right consistency. Thanks for the recipe!
This is by far the best thing ever. I can't seem to do mayo consistently, and I eat a lot of ranch. I just made this in 2 minutes and it is so good. I can now toss my bad oil ranch. I am so happy! Thank you Steve!
Jacques and his daughter used to have a cooking show on PBS, when I was a kid that was the only cooking show (I knew of) on TV...of course we only had 5 TV stations and a thing called UHF was just showing up. this is a great recipe and I will give it a shot. I make a chop salad from fresh broccali, cabbage and whatever else I have laying around (tiny bits) this would be excellent on that. thanks
This is excellent dressing! I added some dried herbs, squeezy garlic, and tiny capers along with some of the juice from the bottle of capers. I put it all into a small jar, and just shook it up until I got the right consistency. Thanks!!
We had salad pretty often growing up, and her dressing is still my favorite. Also, her own creamy coleslaw dressing mix, and a vinegary pepper slaw. I want to experiment with yogurt to cut back on some of the fat.
If I had known a creamy dressing was that easy I would have done it before I started keto. I feel like a whole new world has opened up to my taste buds since I started watching you channel. Black garlic? Oh heck yea I am going to be hunting some of that down this weekend.
@K W on the off chance you haven't tried it yet, you should. It's sweeter and less pungent than the fresh - and it enhances flavors via umami. I had a smaller bulb variety and they were like sweet, faintly garlicky, gummy bears. They made the dressing really pop in flavor.
I bought a complete set of Jacque Pepin cooking videos from our library as they were scaling down their inventory. Great Purchase! I've learned so much. The sad thing is that this particular set did not make it to digital format. I'm hoping to take these VHS and convert them someday so it won't be lost. My VCR started eating tapes soon after I got them so I've not transferred them yet till I can find a reliable vhs player . Thanks for this quick and simple Salad Dressing. I've had a bad experience trying to make a homemade blue cheese dressing. This seems a great way to start without "wasting" a lot of ingredients. I always have Heavy whipping cream around.
This video deserves a “STAR”! My husband & I started Keto last year. Finding a Keto salad dressing is difficult. We started making our own , however, ours wasn’t as good as the samples you’ve shown. From our home to yours….”Thanks Steve”!
Steve, Thanks for posting this super simple dressing. To mine, I add juice from 1/2 a lemon, the zest, and more coarse ground pepper. Whisk a bit extra to get thicker from the lemon juice. Delish.
I have used sour cream and/or mayonnaise as the base for our creamy dressings for years. It never occurred to me to use heavy whipping cream. Thank you for another great tip!
@@sundoesshine8800 - homemade Mayo is so simple, and SOOOO much better than all those “alternatives” on the market…Steve has a couple of videos on Serious Keto that are wonderful! I suggest the one using dill pickle juice as a sub for lemon juice. Hope you’ll decide to give it a try!! p.s. - I’m trying this salad dressing technique, as well…such a great idea. Can’t wait to try the bleu cheese version!😉😊
My German mother used the same basic Ingredients on a Bibb lettuce with with thinly sliced onions and cucumbers small red boiled potatoes with butter and salt… such a simple meal light …delicious wonderful memories
Wow! Watched the video, made the dressing. So simple and so good. No more spending $5 to $7 on a bottle of dressing that is clean enough to eat on keto and that isn't loaded with nasty GMO oils. Thank you! I have a feeling I'll be binge watching your videos.
I can’t remember when I last bought dressings. I often use my homemade mayo as a base and really the sky’s the limit. Herbs from the garden, cheeses, mustards, etc can all be added, or just make a simple Vinagrette. Thanks for this lovely video. I think I need that whisk😊
This recipe base recipe is just so amazing! Can't wait to tinker with it. Btw...no oregano or basil in ranch. Just chives, dill, parsley with onion and garlic.
Midnight snack time greetings from Australia Steve. Just drizzled some of this on finely chopped cabbage, cucumber and capers - delicious! Long time viewer, first time commenter. I want to say a huge thank you for all the great work you do on SK and LBM. Your honest, friendly, personable approach has been incredibly valuable to me, not just during my low carb journey, but also through some difficult personal times. Your efforts are truly appreciated! Thank you.
Perfect timing as usual Steve! I've been buying a lot of dressings and they are gross. I used to make my own oil and vinegar, this is a great addition!
My house dressing, as a keto novice is olive oil, lemon juice, grated parm, salt and pepper to taste. Works in salads and veggies thanks for a creamy alternative
Thanks....something simple but good...I'll also use this over roasted vegetables....salmon and even as a dip for my favorite dish chicken wings made in the air fryer...
Legit THANK YOU. Made this with powdered heavy cream replacement for whey. Homerun. Hubby who isn't keto and I love this. Made amazing tacos. Way better taste than corn tortillas and amazing texture. I can't thank you enough. So tasty. No tears.
I just made this dressing -OMG it is life changing for the rabbit in me! I added blue cheese and dill with a bit of jalapeño, CraZy Delicious !! Cant wait to try you’re mayo! Wow - Thank You for sharing Best Wishes
Hi, I have dressing I've made for years to add your base mixture. I call it tarragon-walnut dressing. If you have fresh tarragon great if dried then soak in the vinegar to moisten and add addition flavor to the vinegar, add roasted walnuts, pepper a hit of sweetener and salt. I use swerve and mix with the HWC and let the flavor develop...wonderful on tossed leafy greens. Enjoy and thanks for the great recipes.
I just made this dressing with the black garlic. I got the garlic as a puree so no press needed. OMG!!! This stuff is BEYOND amazing! I was licking it off the plunger whisk. My new go-to dressing!!!🤩
Caesars dressing 1/2 Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream 1 teaspoon Vinegar 1 tablespoon Garlic 3 tablespoons parmesan cheese splash worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon djion mustard 2 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Pepper 1/3 tsp Anchovy paste Thanks so much for this, here's after experimenting half dozen times
Thanks for a great video, such great ideas, I had no idea you could use whipping cream. I appreciate watching without hearing about sponsors too, as I get tired or hearing about sponsors.
For years I've been using a combination of sour cream and ACV, then add herbs. I like it as a base for dips and (thinned down) for salad dressings. I put some into a bowl and add my herbs or add-ins. Nothing like sliced cucumbers from my garden with dill dressing (homegrown too) served icy cold! Blue cheese? Yum! Ranch and green goddess are two other favorites. Thanks Steve!!
I make my own blue cheese dressing with whole fat buttermilk, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and of course blue cheese. It's sooo delicious. Better than any store bought. I'll have to try your recipe with the heavy cream.
I came back to give my review on this dressing. I hadn’t had a chance to make the dressing until today. OMG❗️and W👁W! I didn’t have a wisk on hand so while I was out I grabbed one of those mixer cups. The one like people make those health shakes in. Put in the whipping cream, gave it a good few shakes. Sprinkled a little salt, then the white wine vinegar. Gave the shaker cup a few shakes, the cream thickened. I opened the shaker added some ranch seasoning. Again gave it a few shakes. I ended up with the thickest, most delicious salad dressing I’ve ever made. Taste better than the restaurant kind or any store brand I’ve had. I can not wait to try all kinds of spices using this recipe. Plus it’s simple ingredients, with none of those bad additives like the store brands. Possibilities are endless with this simple recipe. Steve you knocked it out of the park this time👍🏻😎 and as always Keep on Rockin🎸
@@SeriousKeto You’re welcome. I actually bought the shaker bottle because I thought it would work and it did work. But I think next time I’m just going to put in everything. Whipping cream, vinegar, salt and my choice of blue cheese crumbles or spices. Then just shake it until it thickens. The thickening happens fast in the shaker bottle too. Thanks again for this easy simple way of making delicious dressing.
Hey Steve! Great great great video! Chef Pepin is a true OG legend and I love that you introduced him to your viewers. I also love that you referred to this as a technique. Technique is what allows us all to grow as chefs and cooks and It excites me to know that your viewers are going to take this and run with it and make amazing food memories ❤️ I really hope you make some more videos like this. Just because we are keto doesn’t mean we can’t learn from and pay respect to the masters. I personally love the adaptation that we have to do sometimes to make that classic recipe fit our lifestyle. Especially when I end up making the dish better and healthier. As always I hope all is well with you and then SK clan. Be well my friend.
I used this base recipe today, it’s fabulous. I’ve been making mine with sour cream, but this recipe with the heavy cream is spot on. Thank you so much.
I LOVE Jacques and used to live a couple towns away from him. Actually got to hang out with him a couple of time (at fundraisers and a class his daughter taught). I don't remember this recipe, so thanks for the alert, Steve. I'm very excited to try this.

🙂
Seriously Steve you just blew my mind. How did I not think of this already, so brilliant as always.
I’m so glad to have found your channel. Love your recipes and suggestions.
Watching from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Thank you so much!
Love this....and thanks for the Canadian product shoutout! ❤️🇨🇦
I love the simplicity of this! Thanks Steve 😀
Steve, Thanks for posting this super simple dressing. To mine, I add juice from 1/2 a lemon, the zest, and more coarse ground pepper. Whisk a bit extra to get thicker from the lemon juice. Delish.
Sounds great!
I have used sour cream and/or mayonnaise as the base for our creamy dressings for years. It never occurred to me to use heavy whipping cream. Thank you for another great tip!
Yes, me too, I thought I had to use mayo but dislike all the alternative mayos so just gave up. I can't wait to try this!
Steve, you are my very favorite cooking channel by far. I have learned so much from you. You are amazing amazing amazing amazing. :-)
Wow, thank you
I can’t wait to try this simply because of the smile it brings to your face!
Binge as much as you want. 🙂
Thank you.
Thank you!
@@SeriousKeto Thank you! Your work is helping so many of us. Take care mate.
I hope your difficult Journey David comes to an end soon! You have a very positive attitude. That alone will help you through.
Great! I hope things are much better now 7 months later!! 👍❤️❤️
Thank you for another Useful recipe. As you pointed out, the kind of dressing available commercially is Loaded with Junk.
This is the best information I’ve learned all year!
Perfect timing as usual Steve! I've been buying a lot of dressings and they are gross. I used to make my own oil and vinegar, this is a great addition!
YES, a nice add to the same old stuff, love this!
Thanks to you, I will no longer have to search for an acceptable dressing in the stores. I tried this recipe today and it's delicious!!
I’m so glad you like it. 😊
You put a smile on my face when you go to taste the product and most often start a beaming smile,..if you like the taste, that is. Thanks! ;0))
I can’t wait to try these variations! Like many I struggle to find keto healthy non-bad oil dressings!
Love it when you introduce easy peasy recipes! Keep 'em coming!
So tasty. No tears.
Wow! You've just opened up my horizons to dress my daily salad. I love your pogo whisk!
This is a must try, I can't wait to make it. Thanks SO much!
I just made this dressing -OMG it is life changing for the rabbit in me! I added blue cheese and dill with a bit of jalapeño, CraZy Delicious !! Cant wait to try you’re mayo!
Wow - Thank You for sharing
Best Wishes
I'm trying this tonight! Bought salad fixings last night. Someone else mentioned the timing of this video. I agree! Thanks Steve.
Karen ..what variety of vinegar do you use for this??
Mild like, champagne, white and even sherry vinegar.
I just made this dressing with the black garlic. I got the garlic as a puree so no press needed. OMG!!! This stuff is BEYOND amazing! I was licking it off the plunger whisk. My new go-to dressing!!!🤩
Caesars dressing
1/2 Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
1 teaspoon Vinegar
1 tablespoon Garlic
3 tablespoons parmesan cheese
splash worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon djion mustard
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/3 tsp Anchovy paste
Thanks so much for this, here's after experimenting half dozen times
Awesome!
@@SeriousKeto did you try it
@@DroneLakeGuy no sir, but looking at the recipe I can tell it would be great.
WIW!!! Thank You. I have really missed Ranch Dressing. I will definitely be trying these recipes. YUM!!! Thank You again. 😊👍🏼👋🏼
I’m French and have used the basic cream and vinegar forever but thank you for inspiring me to add stuff to it :)
🍴Never thought to use cream cheese. Good idea. 👌
@@jamescalifornia2964 - not sure if this was meant for someone else. I use sour cream, not cream cheese.
@@deborahgrogan1919 what's ACV
@@Shandele3 - sorry, I should've been more specific! (It's a commonly used acronym on Keto and low carb sites.) It stands for apple cider vinegar. 😊
French Canadian here, we love tarragon vinegar! Yum!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing the shaker bottle hack. 🙂👍🏻
Tried this "method" ....basically replacing mayo with whipping cream. It's delicious, ty!!!!
Well said!!!
Looking forward to enjoying my salads with these dressings!❤
I’ve been complaining for forever that I couldn’t find a good (keto friendly) blue cheese dressing. This looks perfect, thank you! 😋
I used this base recipe today, it’s fabulous. I’ve been making mine with sour cream, but this recipe with the heavy cream is spot on. Thank you so much.
Looks good.
I LOVE Jacques and used to live a couple towns away from him. Actually got to hang out with him a couple of time (at fundraisers and a class his daughter taught). I don't remember this recipe, so thanks for the alert, Steve. I'm very excited to try this.
He seems like he’d be a really great guy, unlike some “celebrity chefs”.
Lucky you! Jacques Pepin is a treasure!
Jaques has videos on FB all the time really helpful during the pandemic with eating at home more. More simple techniques then recipes. I don't make complicated things very often for myself so perfect.
U are making buttermilk..ive been making blue cheese dressing for years like that..happy u shared this delicious recipe
Steve!!! Perfect timing. I eat salads everyday with the healthiest store bought blue cheese dressing I can find. I definitely going to try this.
WOW! GAME CHANGER FOR SURE! EXCELLENT. THANK YOU!!!
This is crazy, how have I never heard of this before? Thanks, Steve!!
Mind blown 😱🤯🤯 been looking for a good homemade dressing recipe and now I’ve found it👏👍❤️ thanks😄😄
That big ole smile you did after that first taste was enough to tell me , that I'll be making this tonight for dinner!
Omgosh. Thank you. Lemon pepper with fresh dill weed would be excellent with fish! WHO knew???? Thank you!
