    Hi! I've mustered the courage to download your tools and follow your instructions, and quite frankly I find the whole process very easy!
    However, VIRB Edit seems to to not want to use timestamp data to associate telemetry data to video data.
    For example, when I upload two different video files with two different start dates, and I apply the same .fit file as GMetrix to each, VIRB Edit affects the Gmetrix as if the .fit file started on the first frame of each clip. Baffling.
    Is there a setting you might have changed on your end to make it work or is VIRB Edit decidedly f*cked?

      If Virb is syncing data to the first video frame then generally the time or date isn't in sync with data properly. I'd check that the media info properties of the video file are the same or close to the Strava data (both time and date). If you still have issues, maybe post screenshots in the virb forum thread and I'll take a look.

      Hi again! Thanks for replying so quickly!
      I have just looked into the .fit file with FIT file viewer and what's interesting is that my bike computer is set "timezone 0" with "0" UTC offset. Perhaps this is what causes the issue, and I should consider the time recorded by the bike computer as being "UTC" - eventhough it's actually not the case - and fill out the Time Conversion Excel file accordingly.
      I'll definitely continue this conversation over on the Garmin forum should the issue persist.
      Thanks again!

    I followed the video, but it didn't sync. I started and ended the recording video and Garmin at the same time. But the time of the video and the Strava don't match. Maybe it plays as much as the pause time. Is it because it's a video without gps like GoPro?

    • @vcbb1090

      After running the time sync scripts, try opening Media Info and checking the timestamping. It should match both time and date to work properly.
      GPS sync in the original file isn't necessary because only time in the file is needed, not position or GPS time sync.

    "Calculated Time" spelled wrong ;). Still testing but will let you know. Thank you for the effort.

      Ya, on tab 2 of the Excel? I probably won't fix it unless I have other updates to make. The first line of that exported CSV is ignored anyway. Lack of spell check caught me!
      Let me know if you find other suggestions or issues.

    Excellent work.
    I have found a niggle. When I tried to use this my times were out by 2 minutes and 40 seconds. I believe that this is because the video start time is not taken into account. Although the GPS time and the internal camera time are the same it is impossible to start them both at the same time.
    If I use my Garmin GPS and my synced Garmin camera there is not an issue as the GPS starts the camera automatically but If I use my non-synced camera (manual start) then I have a problem.
    I have added a couple of lines to your Excel spreadsheet where I can enter the different start times and this gives me a corrected Activity file event time.

    • @vcbb1090
      @vcbb1090  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm a bit confused. Video event time in the spreadsheet will account for the start time of the video to sync it. Entering that time into the spreadsheet will take activity event time, subtract video start time (this is the number of minutes and seconds into the video) and have the correct video start time. See about 7:30 into the video.
      Unless I'm confused and missed something.

    • @tonypagett7495
      @tonypagett7495 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought Video event time was a point in the video that you want to sync to. Not the start time of the video

    • @vcbb1090
      @vcbb1090  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tonypagett7495 correct. But, that time is subtracted from the data event time for the final time- so it ends up being the start time after the calculations are complete.
