Awesome info Belinda, thank you. Would love to use the EcoGel if I can get the right equipment - it's an excellent solution!

Ecogel can be processed even with a blender but you do need to maintain the temperature for 25 to 30 min

As much as I appreciate your content and could learn a lot from your videos already, you seem to base a lot of gels on polymeric emulsifiers or in this case the EcoGel, but they are just not available here in Germany - neither for DIY cosmeticians nor for small-scale businesses. Could you please also present options for smaller scale productions and not only for large enterprises?

There are a few ways to broaden your searches for raw materials:
      • Visit our global suppliers page: createcosmeticformulas.com/IngredientSuppliers/cosmeticingredientsuppliers-897/
      • Join our Cosmetic Raw Materials for Small Brands facebook group: facebook.com/groups/1734896293290235/ here you can split packs with others to access materials from large suppliers
When you are a student with us, you also get access to our raw material database, which has 1000’s of raw material details in it, along with supplier details - so you can access this info, get in touch with suppliers and ask for samples (they will provide our students samples) and/or seek minimum pack sizes (or consider purchasing and splitting packs on the Small Brands facebook group above). Hello! I would like to ask you if you have tried to experiment ecogel with any other gums/thickeners to see if there is any synergy, because I would like to create more thick cream gels and as I could see, with 2% only light cream gel is achieved. Thank you for your time and great videos!

Hi Ana, that is the joys of a formulation chemist! Please contact your supplier for a sample and play, play, play in the lab to get the viscosity and skin feel you are looking for, your supplier would also be able to give you some other example formulas to start from. It really depends on what you are trying to achieve and then playing in the lab to get it just right - but that is the fun part!!! Happy formulating.

What’s that machine called ? The mixing one

Hi Demi, it is an IKA Ultra Turrax - its a high speed laboratory mixer. If you google IKA you should be able to find a nearby rep or distributor. Hope this helps :)

Hi Belinda 👋 please tell me how to incorporate carbopol 980 in hot process emulsification with normal emulsifier in which phace I can add it?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can add it at the start in the water phase, or after the emulsion has formed. Either way, do not expose the carbomer to high shear at any time and it is best to neutralise it last so that you can stir the less viscous emulsion easier under low shear. You learn this in more detail, with practical samples to prepare to get the practice/experience also, in our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/

What is the PVP? In the create formulations I paid for, I paid for hair and makeup so $145 but I can't figure out what the PVP is in both the hair spray and gel formulations.

For the Ecogel, you will need to contact your Lucas Meyer rep; for the Novemer EC-2 you will need to contact your Lubrizol rep. If you are new to the industry you would get Company details by studying with us, contact us info@personalcarescience.com.au

Hi, Can NOVEMER EC-2 POLYMER be used as a base cream alone for ingredients to be incorporated in it? I have ingredients of 65%. Can I just mix the Novemer ec-2 to water and stir until it turns into an emulsion? then incorporate my ingredients like Alpha Arbutin, Bearberry extracts and Skinwhite MSH. I will also be adding oils like lime oil and lemon oil.
Do I still need to make an emulsion first then add the Novemer ec-2? or can it combine my oils, extracts, Alpha Arbutin and skinwhite MSH alone?
See with demonstration you just made in the video, Can i just dissolve my ingredients, add my extracts, oils and a delivery system to it?
do also need the lipid? is the lipid normal oils?

      Hi Tina,
No, it can’t be used as a base on its own; as it is a copolymer dispersed in oil, it needs water present to thicken. You also need extra lipid, as it does not contain enough lipid to be properly moisturising as a moisturiser/lotion product. It is instead a polymeric emulsifier, in that it can be used in place of polymers and emulsifiers to create an emulsion; but you still need a large input of water and some oil to create a proper emulsion. To create cosmeceutical products like you are wanting to, I would suggest that you study our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation; particularly the Diploma as you are using some materials there that have regulatory restrictions and you should learn how to formulate with these correctly to ensure safe and compliant use. Contact us for a full prospectus, price list and application form - we send you a practical activity pack, all text books, on-line lectures and you can also get extra tutorial assistance if you need it via skype. We are as close to you as your computer and can teach you how to create the exciting product forms you are looking for! Happy formulating. Belinda.
