I've been living with metastatic breast cancer for almost 6 and 1/2 years. I was diagnosed after my first mammogram at biopsy at the age of 43. It is a tough life, but I'm grateful to have seen both of my kids go off to college
What did you do? I also want to see my kids graduate and see them walk down the aisle and get marry one day. Any advice. God bless you and thank you very much!
@@butfirstimamom5368 I have triple positive breast cancer, so I get herceptin and perjeta every 3 weeks because of my her 2 + status, and I take letrozole pills every day because I am estrogen and progesterone +. I had a lumpectomy, and a few rounds of navalbine chemo. I also had my bone mets radiated. In addition, I had my ovaries removed, to stop estrogen production. My biggest advice is to research, research, research your type of cancer. You may have a great oncologist, but they don't have the time to find out about every clinical trial, or new drugs in development. Also, read about women with your type of cancer, who are defying the odds. I' e read about women living with metastatic breast cancer living close to 30 years and still going. If they did it, why can't you? I wish you so much love and strength. Every day you spend with your kids is a win. Maybe reach out to Imerman Angels. They will pair you with a cancer mentor with your type of cancer and your stage of cancer. They can help you navigate and tell you how they cope
Wow your mum must be a inspiration to you . Wishing you all the best cancer is horrible 😢my breast cancer has come back after 12 years I’m now 49 and a different type …. Praying for you and sending love 💕 go girl
Wow, we have such similar stories. I too am an 18yr Metastatic Breast Cancer Thriver after being diagnosed at the age of 31 and I live in the Dallas area.
So cool to hear you're from the Dallas area as well! We'd love to have you join our in-person support group. It's a great way to give and receive advice in a safe space. Here's the link to learn more if you're interested: www.nationalbreastcancer.org/nbcf-programs/breast-cancer-support-group/
My BC came back after 17 years. I had a very similar experience as you had at the beginning but I was in my 50’s and my children were grown. I am in my 70’s so I looking forward to 3 more graduations and one wedding of grandkids. I look forward to the daily joy and want to start a journal of my day to day joy. Hope you have a long and joyful life ahead of you. ❤
How honest about everything, her family and her feelings and stories like these is what we are all searching for really regardless of whatever cancer and stage to feed in these stories and no doctor knows really how each of us will do on treatments, regardless of stage, that’s a good thing as we all want to live so hope it a treatment too we need to receive.
You are so brave. I'm sorry 😐 your husband couldn't be more supportive. It sounded like denial to me. I hope all is well with you guys and your life. God bless you 🙏🏻❤️
Thanks for sharing your story. The beginning can be so frustrating! When your body is trying to tell you something but test show nothing. Difficulty is with insurance allowing multiple test/opinions. My process has just begun with a small cyst like lump (pea size) and underarm pain. Your story is inspiring. I wish you many more years of NEG results.
Oh Tracy, what a journey you've been on. From all the comments it clear how much your story is helping other women. Thank you for sharing what you're going through.
Very inspiring. My husband is like yours. I am getting ready to get my biopsy. I believe someone dropped the ball when no follow up was done. I have two grandkids and no one knows yet. I just turned down watching my grandkids because my phone call is tomorrow regarding the upcoming biopsy. I am sad and my husband is indifferent. I am waiting to tell my children after the biopsy. Thank you for this. Tell me how to educate myself. Thank you 😊
Are you cancer free now? I have Metastatic 5 years ago, it spread to my bones and liver too. I am about to give up the treatment, but your story inspires me.
Thank you for your question. Tracy is currently still living with metastatic disease. Treatment for metastatic patients focuses on a different goal than non-metastatic patients, the goal being improved quality of life, rather than a “cancer free” designation. We encourage you to consult with your healthcare team before changing or reducing any course of treatment. You are in our thoughts. 💕
Will u please identify bone metastatic symptoms? I had breast cancer 6 months before me treatment has been finished but noe im suffering bone shar sudden oain it will come for 1 minutes than goes off ,i also feel burning sensation on my bone
Hi there! We’re sorry if you’re struggling to find the right doctor team. Unfortunately, we cannot make any specific recommendations since we are not medical professionals. We encourage you to reach out to your community for the best recommendations in your area or ask a different doctor you trust for a referral.
