    You really are a next level fabricator. It looks very meticulously planned and executed. Great job Chris!

      Thank you. I lost a lot of sleep on mounting that jet pump. You only get one shot. If you mount it in at the wrong angle it will porpoise and cavitate. Have a great day dude

      Is there a place I could read on the Pump angle? If I find a hull and Donor ski before a Tracker 185 jet I’m going to build one.

    That's cool! Found you via economicninja! We were out at the lake last summer and ran into a couple kids who had put a jet drive and 460 out of a truck into a 19' ragged out old 4cylinder i/o boat. Looked like it had been sitting outside neglected for decades before these kids totally hotrodded it out. Had demo derby stacks, two aluminum racing seats, a hot pedal and racing guages in a handmade aluminum dash. Rest of the interior was either gutted or very well worn. It was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! He said the look on peoples faces in their brand new shiny boats was priceless as he pulled away from everything else out there in their rat rod boat.
    What a cool setup you have there on yours!

    Nice! What's top speed? How does it handle straight lines? I've got an old seadoo speedster with twin jets. It's fun as F on any kind of water, but it's got a kinda deep v hull , ...deep for its size... I'm just wondering what a small flat bottom jet boat is like. I've been in a few flat bottom v drives over the years. They handled like jet boats so an actual flat bottom jet must be insane.. do you have any other videos of this beast in action?

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It slides a little bit but it doesn’t cavitate much because I counter sunk the bottom so much. It’s really fun to drive TopSpeed around 45. It was a little bit faster before I put The deck and all the gear in it it’s a little bit slower with two people maybe around 41 or 42.I guess the funnest part about it is. It gets there in like one second. You know how jet boats are

  • @UnconventionalMetal
    @UnconventionalMetal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Man that looks fun. Great job, I especially like how you bent up the transom pieces. On the aluminum, did you use a spool gun or TIG?

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I spool gun most of it. I use the Tig where I need to do. Aluminum is not really my thing. But it was fun learning. If you can weld metal you can weld anything.

    Did you do a second stick steer for piloting from either seat? Im now starting into my steering built, glad I saw that you used the stock bars, didnt think of that! I do want to be able to pilot it from either side, as mine will likely be stick in center. PS, im video documenting my build on my channel.

    • @jenky1044
      @jenky1044 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing one of the sticks is for the reverse bucket on the rear and the other one is for steering.

    Do you have any trouble with cavitation? The ones we built have cavitation issues. The work great on glassy waters. Any chop at all and we can barely move. Thanks!

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zero cavitation.I countersunk the bottom of the Jetski 2 inches beneath the boat. And made the bottom of the boat look just like the Jetski.It worked out really well.

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well not zero cavitation but no more than the Jetski

    Nice build . How fast will it run and how is the ride at top speed ? I have a 1955 Feathercraft Vegabond im getting it ready for this kinda build. I'm either going with twin 140 hp jetski engine's or a 1500 or so motorcycle eng. Any comments or concerns positive or negative . Love the way your build turned out and would appreciate any advice.

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jim Jones Hi Jim, the ski would gps 53 mph. After I put it in the boat, it went down to 48mph. The Most impressive thing about the boat is the torque of the Honda four stroke. Going from 0 to 48 in just a few seconds is pretty fun.Keep it light. I don’t know the weight of the boat you are using but the lighter the better. It rides great at TopSpeed. slides a little bit going around sharp corners as you can probably see in the other videos on my channel. I’m not sure how you would hook a motorcycle motor up to a jet pump, but I am sure it can be done.
      Don’t just think about it, do it! it was the funnest build I’ve ever done. Yeahhh!!!

  • @five20too84

    If you don't mind my asking, how did you figure out which way you needed to shim the pump to get the proper angle? I've always wondered if it needed to be done and you don't see many people ever talk about it. Thanks

    • @FinancialPrepper
      @FinancialPrepper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Five20too I actually lost some sleep over the jet angle. because the JetSki’s kind of a bubble shape it rides in the water different then a boat. I didn’t want any cavitation either or unnecessary drag so I position the boat where it looked like it was on the water and leveled the jet pump to that.

    • @five20too84
      @five20too84 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your explanation! I'm going to do the same thing then. Losing sleep seems like a byproduct of this build for me. One step closer though. Thanks again!

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I "nearly" lost sleep over my pump angle. What I did was I found that a 7/8" wooden dowel needed little sanding and it fit SNUG right into my pump bearing. With a 4' dowel sticking out the back, it made it SUPER easy to just plumb the pump by eye, after spending HOURS using measuring techniques prior to realizing the dowel shaft method!
