One of the most bad ass builds I've seen on TH-cam in a long time. If you have a lawn mower shop around that works on zero turn mowers, they have grommets to go into fuel tanks. Would be a perfect fix for your return line. Great job
Holy moly I was expecting the carb rebuild to help but wow talk about moving. 44mph is crazy. Yeah you’re definitely gonna need a grab bar, a comfortable seat to set in. Maybe a 5point harness to 😂. Awesome build man 👏I say you’ll get over 30 mph even with a second person.
I can only imagine how much you were smiling while you had it gapped back! I know I woulda been like a kid at Christmas!! Lol Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the series!
Amazing work! One observation though: I was so excited during your test drive that I exclaimed out loud, and my wife asked: ‘What’s up’? So I showed her. Her comment: ‘Is he married? Cause no woman is gonna get in that thing!’ 😂 Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ Catman!
Awesome setup Catman I’ve got a mud motor jon boat setup for hunting the river in east Tn. But I really like what you’ve built. Way cooler and even faster. I made a grab handle out of 1 inch conduit.
Pretty damn cool young man!!! I've watched all 6 vids. I had this same idea a long time ago, never did it. Now I know how it would have turned out. Awesome
You might wanna install one of those kill switches that you can wrap around your wrist that way if you were to get thrown out of it it would kill the motor
Did this back in the 90's using 2 650 Polaris jet skis as donors. Too fast and couldn't get Texas Parks and Wildlife to sign off on it so couldn't get it registered. Still sitting in the barn under a boat cover for nearly 30 years now. Have fun and good luck.
It's to far gone after years of sitting and chickens roosting on it and other junk thrown in it. My grandson claims he will get it going someday but that remains to be seen.
Using premix will make it run longer(as in lifetime). Definitely want the grab handle and a standing board. Get you a Burt Reynolds mustace to wear while running it and they'll all say '"Gator" done moved up from Georgia!' 😂
just a tip, dont drill a gas tank with an electric drill even if its plastic. the sparks in side the drill can ignite fumes in the tank. another channel i watch called streetracechannel the guy was drilling a hole in a empty plastic gas tank and the sparks in the drill ignited fumes in the tank and it explided and burned the guys face .
Just to clarify, that is not a Jon boat it is a V-hull. Jon boats are flat bottom and squared off corners ! There are river Jons and lake Jons, River Jons are narrow and the lakes are wider !
Hello catman. Great videos love watching your videos. In your next video can you show how you turn the boat? Can you do a video on how much everything cost to build it? Would it work on a 14'8" Jon boat? Or would it take 2 motors to make it work?
Dude!!! That is insane. Not bad for a boat that was born for a 5 hp. Had my doubts, but way more than expected. What is the draft running, 1 inch? Nice job Jim, as usual.
If you rotated the steering mechanism so that swinging left or right turned the boat left or right, then when you hit or let off the throttle quickly your ability to not pull or push on the stick wont steer the boat in and unwanted direction.
There should be a filter between the tank and carb to protect the inner filters but the makers never install them so I do it everytime I buy a motor of any sort.
Once you build a deck/shroud cover just incorporate a back rest. Then you can just use the front seat as a foot rest to push yourself back into the seat back... no grab handles needed.
Very cool build. I binged the whole series.
do you realize what you have done,,,every bona fide southern boy is wanting one of these now.....
There go the prices on Jon boats and old jet skis.
We had em first
seriously...I have a 88 wavejammer I have just decided to hack up for this. Searching for a suitable boat now!
Yanks too
For real East Tennessee rivers gonna see me in one now 😂😂
One of the most bad ass builds I've seen on TH-cam in a long time. If you have a lawn mower shop around that works on zero turn mowers, they have grommets to go into fuel tanks. Would be a perfect fix for your return line.
Great job
Lots of respect here catman.you are certainly a hardworker and inovative.
Nice job ... that little boat goes like hell. !
FANTASTIC BUILD.
I can only imagine how much you were smiling while you had it gapped back! I know I woulda been like a kid at Christmas!! Lol
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the series!
Incredible! Fantastic build. Big atta boy from Texas!
That boat matches the irrodecesnt colors in a TN longbeard. Those will be some stunning photos. 🤙
When you get seat in the boat put you some feet braces in the bottom that will help you from being slung around . That a nice rig .
That things rips dude!!! Nice job on the build
Dang son.. that thing COOKS! 45mph in jon boat is .... well.. FAST. Love the whole concept of this build... low draft drive.
Amazing work! One observation though: I was so excited during your test drive that I exclaimed out loud, and my wife asked: ‘What’s up’? So I showed her. Her comment: ‘Is he married? Cause no woman is gonna get in that thing!’ 😂
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ Catman!

Awesome setup Catman I’ve got a mud motor jon boat setup for hunting the river in east Tn. But I really like what you’ve built. Way cooler and even faster. I made a grab handle out of 1 inch conduit.

Good job. I’ve been planing to do this for a few years now. I’d probably do a couple things differently but nice build
I have a boat rel close to that one, 22 m.p.h. is plenty fast for me. Great build!
Bro that's the coolest thing ever!
Awesome build! Peppieeee!
You're going to rattle the rivets outta that thang! 😂
Awesome job buddy.
45 in that thing is crazy... stay safe
Pretty damn cool young man!!! I've watched all 6 vids. I had this same idea a long time ago, never did it. Now I know how it would have turned out. Awesome
That thing is cooking
Absolutely 😁 cool what you built Bud 😉😉😉😉
You might wanna install one of those kill switches that you can wrap around your wrist that way if you were to get thrown out of it it would kill the motor
Awesome build brother

holy you need to do something with it, at least make video of it i wanna see that
You want to sell it?
It's to far gone after years of sitting and chickens roosting on it and other junk thrown in it. My grandson claims he will get it going someday but that remains to be seen.
Is that the Duck River in TN?
nice build, do you know the wight difference betwin the donor and this?
Using premix will make it run longer(as in lifetime). Definitely want the grab handle and a standing board. Get you a Burt Reynolds mustace to wear while running it and they'll all say '"Gator" done moved up from Georgia!'
😂

but if the tank is brand new like this one it shouldn't contain vapors right ?
awesome young man.
Pretty slick.
That is awesome !
Fantastic!!!!
Thats going to be one quick carp canoe Sir!
Just to clarify, that is not a Jon boat it is a V-hull. Jon boats are flat bottom and squared off corners ! There are river Jons and lake Jons, River Jons are narrow and the lakes are wider !
Yup, always go with a clean gas tank!
This is the most American 🇺🇸 video I’ve ever watched ❤
I've been thinking of doing something like this but I want to fit a mazda rotary motor.
That thing is sick
Really cool man love it!
only thing that thing needs is a good seat and grab handles all around.
Dude thats awesome.
Bolt in metal valve stem with the Schrader valve removed would make a good fitting for the fuel return
That's awesome, inspiring me to build one 😅
That is flipping awesome
Hello catman. Great videos love watching your videos. In your next video can you show how you turn the boat? Can you do a video on how much everything cost to build it? Would it work on a 14'8" Jon boat? Or would it take 2 motors to make it work?
Don't want to give you any illegal ideas, but that thang sounds like a Bootleggers get away vessel!! 😅😂😅 Great build there Dude 👏😎👍
That is awesome.
I'm in process of putting 2 650 Yamahas in a 12 ft airboat hull.u gave me some ideas buddy
Nice build
That's pretty fast on the water br, sounds good to
Dude!!! That is insane. Not bad for a boat that was born for a 5 hp. Had my doubts, but way more than expected. What is the draft running, 1 inch? Nice job Jim, as usual.
First person to water ski off the back of a john boat lol damn that thing rips
If you rotated the steering mechanism so that swinging left or right turned the boat left or right, then when you hit or let off the throttle quickly your ability to not pull or push on the stick wont steer the boat in and unwanted direction.
Awesome, stay safe cat ❤
There should be a filter between the tank and carb to protect the inner filters but the makers never install them so I do it everytime I buy a motor of any sort.
Wow! I didn't realize you are a Mechanic.
Does it go farther on a gallon of gas than with a outboard?
Once you build a deck/shroud cover just incorporate a back rest. Then you can just use the front seat as a foot rest to push yourself back into the seat back... no grab handles needed.
that's so damn cool im building one like this one day
Will it run up rapids
Could have put the hole in the cap for return?
Welcome to the world of jet boats. 😆
Just what I expected
Holy shit that's a fast tin boat. Good job.
