      Can Saudi Arabia supply free healthcare for 330 million people? That is roughly the population of the US...I will say not likely if so much reform will be needed...I live in the US i pay 32 bucks a week out of my paycheck for health insurance. That's just a few Starbucks coffees...I'm also a tax payer part of only 51% of the population that actually pays federal income taxes.
      Also I'm a nurse so I'm still working and still getting paid during Covid 19...
      And lots of people go to college for free in this country also it's called a Federal Pell grant...unemployment benefits just increased an extra $600 bucks a week during Covid 19 here.
      If someone is sick in this country and doesn't have health insurance they go to the ER they can not by law be turned away...so much misinformed people out there about the US as about Saudi Arabia it seems...
      I guess the main difference is here most Americans try not to rely too much on the government we try to be self sufficient. If we need help that is what our families are for not the government or at least that's how it is where I live.

    • @abdullah.alsalafi
      @abdullah.alsalafi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      S Shirah $ 600 ?! I get my full salary ($ 6,000), my salary as a teacher, and the government postponed the debts due to me for a period of 6 months, without interest and without taxes, in addition to the full free treatment and whatever the length of the treatment.

    • @bamagirl1979
      @bamagirl1979 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abdullah.alsalafi I think you missed my point. 330 million people compared to 30 million. That's a huge difference in population.
      There are other incentives here to help people although I'm not the expert in them because it really does not affect me..
      We just tend not to rely on the government here when times get tough...that is why we have a savings account...sadly not enough people here do because they are too materialistic and live paycheck to paycheck.

    • @abdullah.alsalafi
      @abdullah.alsalafi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      S Shira How many healthcare workers are there in the United States (population = 300 million) ?! And how many health care workers are in Saudi Arabia (population = 30 million) ?! The effort the government is making in both countries is supposed to be the same even if there is a large disparity in the number of people between them, I hope I have made my point.

    Much appreciation to Prince Turk Al-Faisal for this open and candid interview. As a member of the Royal Saudi Family he does not have to subject himself to uncomfortable questioning. That is the difference between modern democratic republics based on Enlightenment thinking and traditional Monarchies. It is the chaos of the democratic republican system with unrestricted open debate that has enabled a handful of modern industrialized nations to create the modern world. This modern world has created all the modern conveniences that have made our lives better. The machines of the Industrial Revolution have made global, free-market trade possible. Those machines run on fossil fuel. It is the global trade of petroleum, diesel, natural gas, ... that have set the high standard of living in Saudi Arabia for all other nations to emulate.

    Extremely rude interviewer and very unfortunate that Prince Turki was obviously not feeling well in this interview. As a scholar of Gulf studies I have met him several times and must say that he normally is one of the most gifted speakers, as well as highly intelligent, unpretentious, kind hearted and amazingly wise.
    It is certainly true that the Western media and sadly international human rights organizations have shown a predisposition against the Kingdom. What’s more is some of those alleged experts have never actually been in the country and reports are often entirely based on dissidents holding a serious grudge. Saudi Arabia as a developing country has made enormous progress in the past decades, in fact some critical observers wonder if the pace of social change is healthy for this deeply traditional society. What more is that the Kingdom has in the past century enjoyed the most liberal freedom of expression in respect to the other GCC countries and even controversial topics could openly be discussed in the media. This new era of liberalism was reversed with the appearance of MbS, consequently sadly making the Kingdom much more repressive (like the UAE or Qatar) in the past three years. Moreover, of course there are human rights violations in Saudi Arabia (just as elsewhere), especially when it comes to the treatment of foreign labor (here especially women). But if one is honest there have been campaigns against these practices from Saudi citizens, endorsed by the Saudi media and local human rights organizations. One needs to be very careful to judge from abroad and I am quite certain that most people that made a huge fuzz about a certain blogger never actually read some of the stuff he wrote. In my country (Germany) people who do not recognize the government and even openly call for violence against certain members of the government are being observed as well as prosecuted by the state, which makes me wonder why the Western world expects foreign governments to ignore such actions? That said, of course not every political prisoner in Saudi Arabia and especially in the smaller Gulf States has done something bad to end up in prison - still the West is gladly looking the other way when it comes to economic interests, so who exactly has double standards?

    I mean the majority of countries might think we (US and Europe)
    cross the line in discussing "he, she, it abortion rights" in Court
    when no evidence of pregnancy for a "he" or "it" has been
    brought forward nor can we possibly lecture and force other countries to accept those views. Those views ethically divide our own countries.

    What's the point to invite someone as a guest? You could invite anyone at the embassy in Turkey, no one will find anything controversial. While we all know what has happened. They were even broadcasting live the slaughtering probably for a higher Saudi official interrogating the poor man.

    Saudi was unjustly maligned here;
    we have no alternative facts, In Saudi Arabia: we have air, water, food, oil, money, electricity, internet,TVs, i phones, stadiums, roads and cars, we have airports, planes and trains,
    we have a great religion and mosques, we have culture and values, we have laws and rules, as others we have crimes and prisons for criminals,
    we have safety, security, and stability, we have integrity and equality and harmony, we have a high self-esteem and respect, also we have connections (intimacy and love),
    we can marry and have families(incuraged and supported by our lovely goverment), we can move and exercise, we can rest and sleep; we have housing supported by the government, we have a free education up to the PhD and we can easily get a scholarship to study a broad, we have a high quality hospitals and clinicians with a free (life time health insurance), we have firms, factories, manufactures, engineers, and technicians, we have jobs and businesses, we have holidays and mostly we can travel anywhere we wanted, we have much happier life (AlhamduliAllah) than others in so many different countries. We have ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.ect
    And YES we have some issues which are normally happen everywhere and i can see NO reason why they focus only in here. ????
    We are a great nation, very proud and too ambitious, with our government we can do a lot of reforms and changes to institution and practice.
