This is exactly how I felt. Her cries made me sad. Have a friend who’s mom is like this, lives on the streets, schizophrenia untreated. When you know someone and can empathize it makes you see things differently for sure. Lot of lack of empathy on some of these videos where they’re clearly under some sort of mental duress at the very least. She seems genuinely afraid. Hell, around 8:00 mark when she’s in the chair surrounded by officers, has to be so scary. It would be scary for me even if I had done nothing wrong! They did great given the circumstances.

Yeah, it really sucks that we basically don't have real care facilities for the mentally ill anymore. There were some really bad ones in the past, but when those were exposed, the public assumed that EVERY asylum was like that. Kennedy shut basically all of them down. Now the mentally ill just live on the streets until they get arrested, get processed and shunted back out until they do something to earn serious prison time, then get shoved in prisons and horrifically abused by the criminal population in there.

This is just Wisconsin police in a nut shell. Calm, professional, and fair. They tend to show a lot of compassion and respect as well.
It also helps Wiconsin is basically Canada 2.0, so even the criminals tend to be more or less humble, and respectful with "I'm sorry I ran, I know you're just doing your job" lol. Helps the police, who are also human, to not get overly stressed, and short tempered as they get more and more jaded doing their job over the years.

There comes a point where one needs to be responsible and accountable for taking care of one’s mental health. This includes TAKING MEDS EVERY SINGLE DAY, seeking psychiatric care, including hospitalization and consistent mental health therapy. Unfortunately many chose not to and here we are with Alicia in the elevator. I work hard every single day, for almost six decades, to remain stable and live a life that is high functioning, employable and able to manage/cope with life’s ups and downs. It can be done, however there are people who use their illness as a weapon and an excuse for bad behavior and to create chaos and drama, not just for themselves, but to everyone around them and that’s not right nor fair. Others should not be made to endure and suffer because of someone else’s issues and illness.
