I’m interested to see what Omega has in mind for the future of the 600 meter depth version of the Planet Ocean. Removing the helium escape valve crown and date complication make a huge difference. The Ultra Deep looks incredible. I’ve been saving for the 8900 and am planning to get one for my 50th birthday later this year. Hoping for something big from Omega soon.

I consider 18mm to be SUPER thin for a watch that goes that deep. Amazing.

Considering how thiccc the titan submersible was & still didn't make it 18mm is ultra thin. 😂

I bought this same watch a couple of weeks ago. It looks and feels amazing on my wrist, which is not very big. Got a great deal from the AD. A perfect partner to my 2 other Plant Oceans and Seamaster 300 in steel and Gold. love the brand❤

I have no use for it but the construction of this watch is mind bending. It doesn't use traditional gaskets. Instead they developed a process to metalize (LiquidMetal actually) the crystal and interface of the two piece case back to allow for its depth rating. It is a true engineering marvel.

Nice watch! And thanks for the look; these kinds of watches have always intrigued me. I’m really surprised how compact it is.
Yep, most of us would only ever take this to the Marinara trench at Olive Garden.

Excellent review. One of the nice things about Omega as a general statement, we can pick up the nicer models from a retailer at discount if you work your cards right. I picked up an Ultra Deep last week at my local watch store - a stainless with stainless band ordered for me. I was more interesting in the titanium model based on weight; however I took advantage of grabbing this one and haven't looked back. I loved heavy dive watches, but mutated to a preference of light over heavy. The first thing about the stainless it is an elegant (exquisite) wristwatch. It look much nicer than the titanium model. People notice this watch - it is a show stopper. It turns out to my surprise looking more like fine jewelry. The pictures do not show how gorgeous it is in real-time. As Rob mentioned (great review normally I never comment), I'm not going to the bottom of the ocean. We own watches like this based on amazing technology. In this case, the race to the bottom which for those who follow commercial diver watch historically started with the Omega Marine in 1932 originally tested to 73 meters later confirmed waterproof to 135 meters. We are talking technology and history here beyond even Rolex referring to diver watches. FTR this watch meets ISO 6425:2018 standard and the gradient face has 18K gold enhancements. Albeit very top heavy the watch wears well but you have to like a heavy watch. I knew exactly where I was going, more specifically removing the absolutely beautiful bracelet for a Omega NATO strap. This accomplished two things - 1. made the watch more secure on the wrist and 2. lightened what was a extremely heavy watch package into a very comfortable item, Plus it looks great on the NATO strap as a day to day item without damaging the stainless bracelet based on use. At discount priced below a Rolex Sub, I can't imagine why anyone would argue the price point.

Beautiful watch! I like your car analogy. One of my favorite watches is my Zelos Abyss 3, 3000M diver. Awesome watch. Fits good on my 8inch wrist, so no complaints about a watch this size. OMEGA killin it.

Man Rob, that is fine! I like it. I wished Omega would have offered something like that back when I used to could afford my driver's for the insane high prices but for Omega and the fit, finish and beautiful built definitely worth it. I liked the boxed domed sapphire crystal and the larger bezel. I know the no date cleans the dial up but I would have liked to seen Omega do what they do best which would have been incorporate the date window into the dial just right. Great review man.

Now if I personally could only go deeper than a feet foot of warm bath water. This would be an awesome night on the town watch, if anyone gives you grief, one backhand from this watch and they'll be kissing the floor, Iron Watch Man. All kidding aside, totally awesome watch.

The Omega is a really great watch. But the depth rating is not really special or impressive. Look at the H2O Kalmar 2 Deep Diver with a depth rating of 25000m! THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! And that from a little German company.

The water pressure at a depth of 6000 mtrs is eq to 47450 Newtons/sq inch on the watch face, and that pressure is also eq to a waterfall pressure from a height of 593 mtrs …
this clearly implies that such a Watch is fully capable of withstanding pressure of a crushing 100ft Seawave and/or a Shockwave of 194dB in real life ..
thus the Watch is fully justified for its construction . . !!!

  • @WINDINGCROWNS
