I grew up in Indiana, but forgotten about watching this on HBO as a kid. The first time I drove through the Holland Tunnel, in Weehawhen, NJ, I remembered this movie.
And for 5 years or so, I worked with his son at Lackland AFB, Texas, Foster, Jr. that went by the name of Dick. I didn’t even know he was his son until I saw his obituary and just thought the first name was a coincidence. He was a retired MSgt that worked repairing equipment in the fitness centers.
Weehawken is in NJ right across from Manhattan, on the Hudson river. It's old NJ, back when it was a grittier industrial powerhouse. Booming middle class growth and mobility. Giant. Jerry captures the spirit of that time in this film.
MANY years ago i was in a store called Audio Video Plus on Waugh dr. in Houston that had basically EVERY damn THING ever released on VHS. I saw the movie Cracking Up and had never heard of it. I went up to check it out and the two dudes looked at each other and said to each other "Jolly Fats Weehawkin " with a laugh. The movie is terrible of course but it has some funny stuff. I copied and edited the thing down to about 12 minutes of solid laughs with my vhs copyright eliminator setup circa late 80's. I just threw that tape out a last year.
Ajay, yes it is.....Buddy Lester. He, as well as others are in a lot of his movies. JL was loyal to his supporting actors and they had roles in a lot of his movies.
+2packs4sure. Relax. I was just imitating the airline worker at 1:25 when he coldly assumed Jerry was a schmuck. Have a sense of humor. I see that one flew over your head. You really are a schmuck! ;>].
This is one of the stupidest movies I ever saw, but never boring and I actually laughed myself half to death. Jerry Lewis’ character also plays three other people and the main character always driving different cars. A Ford Mustang 2, an early 80’s Mazda, and 1969-1970 Ford station wagon among them.

It captured the essence of flying Spirit Air.
I love Foster Brooks. Nobody can play a drunk better than him! After having been around real drunks, I can say how authentic he is!

This may be one of the dumbest scenes in all of cinematic history. And I can't stop laughing...
I know right lol
I would say this pretty much represents modern air travel, but at least they have more leg room.
I have always loved this movie. Kills me!!! Love Jerry!😂❤️
What is the name of the movie please?
@@ignorecorporatenews “Cracking Up” 😃
Surprisingly prophetic now!
"You just show the stewardess your hand."

United Airlines is the new Weehawkin.
Am Flowers You said it. I wil never fly United again .
Please, don't insult Jolly "Fats" Weehawkin with such a comparison.
*spirit and frontier have entered the chat*

Ah! So this is where Spirit Airlines got their business plan from! Hey, hey Sam Chui! Review this!
Still better than JetBlue.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0085375/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Jay, especially Kathleen Freeman, she was in at least 10 of his movies.
What is the name of this movie???

Name of Movie
"Cracking Up" (1983)
U can t stop laughing 😅😅😅😅
WHY DOES 4:46 KILL ME?
Because you're probably a schmuck.
How in the world could laughing at a chicken getting snatched and hauled down a trapdoor make me a schmuck?
RIDICULOUS !

Yea, i was making fun of me.
I saw this movie on 1986... and I come here to TH-cam... to watch that scene again.... LOL
They renamed the airline to Spirit, ‘eh?
Notice that money never changed hands when he bought a "ticket?" Technically, he got a free flight. And his money's worth.
This is the only "good" part of the movie as I recall. Still sticks with me.
1960's comedy didn't translate to 1980's entertainment very smoothly here.
Classic
I'd say Ron White's flight was a joyride compared to this.

You can't imagine this was funny. What do you know.
Saw it once on HBO. Horrible movie, but this was the only thing that worked.
I can’t imagine that people actually thought this was funny back in the day?
What do you mean? I think it's funny NOW
@@jayphailey Well, it looks like this was in theaters when you were a child
@@modoc97405 I saw it on TV when I was, like 12,
It's ancient and historical to you, surely,
@@jayphailey I saw Jerry Lewis movies on tv when I was a kid. I thought they were hilarious when I was 10, but they don’t hold up well as an adult
