GM was always dedicated to Michael's F1 project None of this would probably have happened if not for Michael Andretti. He'll have a say behind the scenes.
Andretti and Cadillac have already been working on building according to the 2026 rules ! Even if Andretti Global isn't directly involved, there's a car and engine somewhere.
Awesomeness (especially as an American) on this development! How many times have "personalities" got in the way of big good things. Christian Horner still seems concerned about his financial bottomline and that makes sense. But, there are competitive offsets (i.e. unrestricted wind tunnel time or increased power unit allocations) that GM/Caddy/Andretti can be offered in leu of a large payout in the first year or two of competition (if necessary). That being said, sounds like the FOM/TP's/FIA and GM/Caddy have figured all that out and 2026 looks like it will be a historical F1 year (new cars, regs, teams, Newey at Aston...oh my!).
Idk how many of y’all know about General Motors especially for the ones who don’t live in the states but gm may not be great at aerodynamics but one thing they are great and the best at is their ability to make motors gm motors are the best in the world hands down so I know they will have some great power units once they figure things out
Part of me wants to see bottas get a seat because he seems like such a good guy but the other part of me would love to see some Indy drivers get thrown in there. Maybe a veteran like bottas paired with an Indy driver would be good. A veteran like bottas would be a big help with communicating what the car needs.
Let us remember that Cadillac has been involved in high level motorsport at Le Mans in 1950. They have also competed in Le Mans American series in the LMP1/2 categories. The Corvette sits on top of the American sportscar hierarchy with both N/A and EV versions. I say that to illustrate that GM can race and can develop competent machinery. Now that GM is pushing forward, the real fight begins. Politics - global, internal will need to be managed with deliberate expectations. Driver selection and swarm of American investors waiting to get their brand on the livery. Lots to sort out! The bottom line is F1 needs more OEMs to participate and enhance the fan/owner aspect of motorsport. When you can look in the driveway, or pass a vehicle on the motorway, and see the emblem of your favorite F1 team, then it all makes sense. Very happy to see this finally coming together.
Seems to me that FIA and GM got together and removed the people that were causing the deal to fail. I just hope they don't sign some half ass drivers from NASCAR or INDY just because they are popular in America.
Sometime after the Andretti rejection came, I said Cadillac will be coming to F1 with or without Andretti. Of course, hardly anyone paid attention - if anyone.
So maybe because im from the states does this even come to mind but McLaren use chevrolet engines in indy so does anyone think it to be possible they switch to their engines in F1? Of course there's Haas as well being an American team as well. Would love to hear your thoughts Cam.
@@gapri_sun1987 competition no, although doubt they will be in top for the next 10 years. What I am sceptical about is the spectacle americans tend to make of every sport. Like more show than pure racing. Hopefully it won't go that way.
Well great. There used to be 11 teams before even 12...I think . IF I recall correcly. It has been a lot of decades ok. heh. Well then this gives some other drivers a chance huh? Good move for the sport really. eh? heh. XD
BMW is the Big Winner here, GM’ cars in America are NOW going to cost A fortune! If you are a Manufacturing Automobile Company in FORMULA ONE, Your cars will continue to cost a FORTUNE, Mercedes, VW/Audi, GM and Ferrari…..and we all know Ferrari and BMW M Automobiles are worth ever penny! 😉🤗😱❤️☕️
Happy to see 2 more drivers on the grid. Hope they can make a decent effort for the first season.
Andretti still got shafted in the end.
Who cares. Getting 11th team was the goal anyway.

Guardian Australia reporting that GM will likely be powered by Ferrari upon entry. Wow!
It’s a great time to be an F1 fan.
This is exciting news and will be good for the sport. Lets welcome them it adds an extra bit of spice to the competition.

LATTEFEEE LOGAN ARE BACK BABY ❤ We’re are they going to fit them in Monaco and other tracks 😂 there will be some interesting Pit incidents
I love this news. F1 could used another team especially an American team to fill the grid.
Chevrolet has Indy engines, and experience.
Apples and oranges my friend.

We all know the real name of this team is Andretti. Just cause FOM is forcing everyone under there mandate to call it gm, doesnt mean the F1 fans do.
