    I'm watching you cook this and I sorely wish I wasn't so lactose intolerant. I am now looking for cream that is lactose free. I just used my Trangia 27 yesterday but I bought the stove 30 years ago! I just love the whole concept of this remarkable stove. Thank you for the video. I love the cooking and the amazing hikes you, your partner and Konrad go on. Very inspirational!

      Thanks for your kind words Bob! I've never looked for lactose free sour creme but I would not be surprised if it is available. I feel the same about the Trangia storm stove, I come back to it every time I try other stuff. Cooling over open fire is really nice though, feels so back to the roots. happy trials!

      Thanks for Your question Michelle, which is important. I admit I do this differently due to situations. Most often I heat up water in the pot or pan and, scrub, pour it off and dry it with towel I bring. Sometimes I scrup in water and sand and the dry it off. This time I had a abrasive sponge and cleaned it off in cold water. These days focus on plastics polution make me wonder if that sponge leave micro plastic in water. Not sure though. But mostly I use fingers and towel after heating up the pan. I'm not concerned with leaveing some organic rests of food in nature. Fish or other organisms eat it. How do You do?

    Hi! loved your video and the landscape. I bought a trangia 27 with alcohol burner and also with the gas as I thought it could be difficult to control the flame on the alcohol burner. But after seeing your cooking I feel more comfortable to have a go - it is so much quieter than the gas.
    A question, was that coffee or tea? If it was coffee how did you prepare it in the kettle? Thanks

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Good to complement the kit with both burners. I like the alco burner most for the same reason You mention, it's quiet. I brew coffee in the kettle, using coffee that is ground for boiling. I boile up the water and pour coffee in the kettle. Let it boil up again and then set it asaide to let the coffee sink to bottom. I pour in as much as it cover the surface and have 1cm hight. When it has sat i pour coffee in my kuksa and pour it back in kettle before i fill ip the kuksa for a drink.

      Mattias Eriksson Thanks for the advise! It’s for backpacking yes, and I am planning to do another thru-hike in May and I need a reliable cooking set for even when it’s windy. Funsized Earthling I would say the 27 will be perfect. The 27 could also be combined with a Trangia 2,5 billy pot, the stove fits perfect in the pot so it does not build up much. With this addition, You could still make stews for 4 peaple easily. I have a video where i make a stew with beer so You can see what i mean. Link th-cam.com/video/e5VZceuGJvg/w-d-xo.html

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tony, what are You cooking and what frypan? This is the HA pan. I use oil or olive oil. In this case the bacon is fatty as well. But if you see it overheat liift the pan off now and then. I very seldom get sticking in the pan. A good thing is to do as you do with fry pans at home when they are new. Heat the pan up pour on oil, heat it up good again with the oil and let the hot oil reach all surface. Let it cool down and wipe of. Now the pan is "greased" for good. Do that procedure now and then if you have cleaned the pan with detergents.

    Hi, Nice video!
    I have the Trangia 27 (the alcohol stove). - haven't used it yet, have never used a camp stove before, but eager to get started. The thing that holds me back is uncertainty about how long the fuel lasts, how to monitor fuel consumption while cooking and how to add fuel when the alcohol gets low. So far, none of the Trangia videos I've watched have been helpful on these points. Can you help?
    That was a rather substantive meal you cooked. How many times did you have to re-fuel? Do you let the stove cool down before adding the fuel, which is what the manual suggests? Seems that would waste time and make cooking inefficient (waiting on the fuel to bloom or whatever).
    Any and all information you can provide to this newbie will be greatly appreciated!

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for this question. The burner filled up burns for 25-30 min. For this meal and the others on my channel I have never been forced to refill. But I have done that before, the only way is to cool it down before. If you know that you need a flame more than 25-30 min. It's better to get the gasburner or a second alcoburner ready to continue with. If you cook potato or root, chop it in small pieces to reduce boil time. I love my 27 and think it is the best kit I have. Together with a 2,5 litre Billy pot from Trangia it gets even more versatile. Hope this helped.

    • @Gwen3344
      @Gwen3344 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Braapncamp Hi, thanks for the response. It's interesting that your fuel lasted 25-30 mins. I have watched videos where the TH-camrs were testing how long it takes water to boil in the Trangia, and the fuel was consumed after 12-15 mins or so, all of which left me confused and wondering about the efficacy of the stove.
      Anyway ... I am still a bit confused. Could you answer a few more questions for me? (Sorry for being a dunce about this, but better to be safe and knowledgeable than reckless and stupid, wouldn't you say?)
      1) Could you clarify what you mean by cooling the burner down before refilling? I assume you mean allowing sufficient time for it to naturally cool? If so, how cool does it have to get, relatively speaking?
      2) Can you explain why it's necessary to allow it to cool? I assume danger of flash fire or something?
      3) When you say get a second burner ready, does that mean that the second burner (the fuel in it needs to be pre-heated? That doesn't seem practical, but I do remember reading (I think) that a cold burner or cold fuel shouldn't be used. Or did I just make that up :-)?!
      Thank you!

    • @Braapncamp
      @Braapncamp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gwen3344 with cooling down the burner I would say it's expressed in that way for safety. What you must do is to ensure that there is no flame before you refill. So put the lid/simmer ring on to ensure that the flame is out. I use Trangias safety fuel bottle, I have never had a burner to flame up accidentally when ensuring that flame is out. I would not be to worried about the burners temp. In theory there could be a risk. Regarding burning time of filled up burner. 15 min to burn out is so short so some one has done something wrong. My allways burn at least 25 min. If I fill the burner with more alcohol than recommended (2/3) by Trangia it burns for 30-35 min. The burner does not have to bloom before use, just light it up and put a pot above it. It blooms faster as it get warm faster. This system is simple so don't overdo it. If you have a second burner you can light it up and use it direct when you switch. I have never needed that though. I use a second burner in my Trangia triangle though to have two stoves at the same time, that is sometimes practical.
