  • In this video, I show you how I make IMO 3 [indigenous microorganisms] using oats, rice bran, and woodchips
    IMO3 is a process in Korean Natural Farming where we are making a microbe rich compost to introduce to our soil for diversity
    I am always down for feed back and critique, if you see me say or do something wrong, I am always down for correction as I am just a beginner in Korean Natural Farming utilizing this practice on my vegetable farm
    So far I have seen great results from a previous IMO 3 + IMO 4 application on my farm and I am noticing a great return and harvest from my leafy greens
    Let's learn and grow together :)

    I have my IM02 but for some reason I just found it really intimidating to start IM03. All the natural farming handbooks work in such gigantic quantities and your videos make it seem so much less intimidating. This video had actually given me some confidence to try.

    Great video, my IMO 3 pile is rolling right now, and I am curious about how you store it?
    I saw that in India they store it in bags made of natural fibers, but I felt like the IMO would want to just take over that carbon source. What are your thoughts on that?

    thankyou for the video i have my imo2 ready. what may i ask is the substrate they taught you to use originally when you took nkf classes. also for me and others who see this can you mention other grains and substrates can i use rye do i have to cook b4 like in imo1 or keep raw? also. do you have to use a bran of some kind like a whole and a crushed food or can i just use like oats per say and just add sticks and leaves. or do i need some type of brand. if you could make a vid of you explaining all the different substrates you can use together. so people can have options on what they have availabile. and i am guessing you can use imo 3 in a compost tea but could you show how you would add this to the garden would you break up the clumps or keep them whole. when top dressing Thankyou again peace and blessings

    i am from australia, a pretty dry climate, after about 2-3 days the pile seems to dry out, even when well covered.
    i break a few lumps open and the inside of the lumps is moist but no mycelium.
    normally when i notice the pile drys i carefully with a spray bottle add some more moisture, is this un nessacary ? i am starting to think, when the only moisture left is inside of the lumps, the mycelium spreads inside of the lumps, going after the moisture ?
    when i make imo 3, i get mycelium on the outside of the lumps, but not the inside, do you have any input on this ? is it because i add extra moisture ? does the mycelium go in search of the water inside of the lumps that are still moist when the outside is dry ?
    do i keep doing what im doing, but let them dry out longer ? i can get a good amount of mycelium covering the entire outside of the lump, it just does not move inside very well.

    • @johnknf
      @johnknf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes so the ratios are just a dilution of how much of each natural farming input I use per gallon of water. You don't use a lot of each one to whatever it may be that you are doing

    • @goddammitboi
      @goddammitboi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I integrate both practices on my farm. I don't really have a preference on either or, I just have to learn and understand a little bit more on both practices this year since it is the first season I am utilizing both practices. I will use mostly KNF to feed my plants with the inputs and work on IMO4, while in JADAM, I will be using the JWA+JHS as my emergency pest control if I come into any problems this season and JMS will be primarily for my brassica crops as I have seen great results using JMS on my red cabbages :)
