    I am currently at a stage where I feel like class attendance is a waste of my time, and this video made me aware that I am a poor student. I also never saw the need for consultation, I think I need to explore that now. Procrastination is the final stage boss, hopefully the timetable will be my special ammunition. Thank you very much for this video, It's very informative.

    I think you just saved my CTA year, wrote Test 1 last week and I got extremely overwhelmed and lost consistency and discipline so I know I have some gaps to fill and the 24 hour and Monday rule will be somethings I will be implementing and I have ample opportunities to improve and master "the process". Highly appreciate these tips

    I enjoyed the post read one, because I realised that I sometimes use my gaps for resting or doing other things because I was doing everything I learnt in the class after all my classes, I would end up studying three modules cons ergative.

      Yep . It’s amazing how we complain about time but there is so much of it . I realised this as well that in between classes and in the mornings before classes there was time to start going over the material which reduced the pressure to study in the evening . I am glad you enjoyed the insights and please stay tuned for more videos .

    Can u plz vet my understanding
    Lecture strategy
    -Why (the why of the principle is basically is what problem are we trying to solve, what problem does this principle solve)
    -Trigger (these are phrases, key words that triggers/ gives clues the use of a certain principle)
    -How (how does the triggered principle apply)

    So, for every topic or concept we need to understand what problem is the principle solving, and what are the triggers of the principle and how do we apply the principle to solve the given problem.

    Time scheduling
    -Make a timetable and block time (class time, tuts and other activities)
    -Sleep for better memory retention
    -Find gaps(the gaps are free time after classes the 24h applies)
    (should one have a gap after class it's not free time ,it's used for post reading)
    (on busy days you do not need to study everything the same day but the material must be studied in a range of 24h)

    Tuts
    -done under exam conditions
    -If u get something wrong find out why u got it wrong.
    -keep a log book of your mistakes
    Consulting
    -to confirm the understanding of the principle NB explain it to the lecture of tutor
    -if u don't understand go ask for help
    -for feedback to see if you are on the right track
    Consistency
    -Be able to write concept tests about all covered concepts

    Questions
    -When does one revise covered contented of past weeks and how does one go about it?
    -for consulting for feedback and confirmation of concepts do u go for every module or just modules u struggle with?
    -we can only start doing tuts when the lectures for a module over for the week?

    • @xhantimshunqane
      @xhantimshunqane  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      As for doing tutorials after going to classes , yes it’s highly recommended you do that . You need to move from passive methods of learning (going to class and post reading quickly hence 24 hour rule and attending class) to your active methods (doing classes , discussions and teaching others- where you should be spending the majority of your study time ) .If however the lecture finishes a topic in one session and you can already start doing questions , then do so .
      For feedback I recommend going at least once a week . If you are really struggling you will likely go more times and be there for longer periods . If you are not struggling , simply going to see the lecturer even if it’s 10 min to ask for tips on what to look out for on the topic that you may have missed or to clarify any small areas will not hurt . In addition , when you build that relationship with lectures they will be more likely to help you in weeks where the work is difficult and you need more time with them. Think about investing in a relationship but also having a resource that is active , and can be used at any time . Sometimes even if you believe you have got this , spending 10 min with a lecture having them look at your answer to practice questions is also good to confirm that you understand . You don’t want to end up thinking you know something only to find out in the test you actually don’t .
      Remember also that the key is to teach others (a powerful active method) that is used when you consult to confirm principles . You can teach your lectures , tutors or if you are really comfortable with the topic even fellow class mates , students or family . As long as you can explain the topic in simple language by striping out the technical stuff you know you have mastered it.
      As for revision , I used to have 1- 2 hours blocked out every week day (depending on how busy the day is) . I did this before I sleep after going over the new content . I would revise old work/ prepare for tests or catch up only if the new work has been covered .
      If you did the Monday rule correctly this period every day will not need a lot of time hence (1- 2 hours ) daily . If I fell behind by a lot , or I was worried about a test that week , in addition to the 1- 2 hours daily ,I would also sacrifice some of the rest hours in my time table to compensate . Importantly though I never allowed being behind , revising or writing tests in the academic week to disturb the process of applying the 24 h rule to the new content .

    Hi Xhanti your TH-cam channel popped up on my feed ,
    I'm a new subscriber with a question what about pre reading?
    Should I pre read before a class? Or post read?
    Like attend a class without having a clue , but knowing what is the principle solving and it's conditions where it's applicable or not, and the triggers etc
    What about pre reading for a class?

    • @xhantimshunqane
      @xhantimshunqane  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      This is a good question . Now pre- reading is designed to ensure that you concentrate better in class . I would recommend you do it . I personally did not do it often because I was naturally good at paying attention in class . You need to be honest and know yourself . When I started though I did pre - read. My verdict is that pre - reading is important . You don’t have to read too much even if it’s 30 min max on subject going over the topic to get an idea of what will be included . This will help you concentrate better in class .

    Hi Xhanti, thanks for the information shared above.
    I'm currently studying 98200 Diploma in Accounting science at Unisa. I'm an aspiring CA, can you share some light on which CTA should I go for after doing my advanced Diploma?(specifically the code for CTA)

    • @xhantimshunqane
      @xhantimshunqane  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Boohle . I am glad you enjoyed it . Thanks for the support 🙏🏾.
      Well it all depends on where do you see yourself 5- 10 years from now . If you want to be a CA(SA) , then you need to enroll for the modules that will allow you to do CTA and ultimately write ITC after passing . Speak to the school registrar and faculty to get accurate information on this .
      In my mind given that you are an aspiring CA(SA) you should try to enroll for the modules that will allow you to get there . Typically the CA(SA) route is fixed curriculum with either you going straight into CTA or sometimes you may need to do it over 2 years . Whatever the path you qualify to do , as long as you will get there that is the main thing .
      Have I answered you ? I think it’s assessing what path do you qualify for after passing your degree that will allow you do the CA(SA) route . Please consult the school to ensure you pick the right modules .

    Can you please explain the difference between Pre-read and post-read for me.

    • @xhantimshunqane
      @xhantimshunqane  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi. This is a good question ,thanks . Pre - reading is when you read about the subject before attending a class or watching a video . Post reading is when you read on the subject matter /learning area after attending the class .
      Pre- reading is typically a tool that you use to improve your concentration and attention in class . On the other hand , post reading is a tool used to consolidate information into your longer term memory so as to be able to recall it later when doing questions or writing tests and exams. Does this clarify ?
