    I own this laptop since november and it's a really powerfull machine for 4K to 6K video editing.
    However, I've had quite a lot of issues with the upgrade of the RAMs from 32GB to 64GB (adding two additional 16GB's to fill all four slots) .
    My dealer suggested Crucial DDR4 RAM, but the Zbook wouldn't accept any Crucial RAM - black screen on startup. Also tried removing the existing RAM in the machine (those under the keyboard) and fill the machine up with Crucials - black screen on start up. Tried Kingston DDR4 RAM that are known to work with a lot of special/high end computers, but with the same result.
    HP support told me recently that the Hynix C Die 3200 DDR4 should be the only ones that the Zbook would accept. They seem difficult to find available in any of my local dealers shops, so I'm kinda starting to give up on upgrading the RAM in my Zbook G8. Which is quite a shame since it has so much potential.
    Have you tried upgrading your machine? Or is this issue anything you've heard of?
    Mine is a i7-11850H, RTX A3000 and 32 GB RAM.
    Thanks for your videos!

      Thank you for your question. I appreciate your support. Yes, I did successfully upgrade my ram using Crucial CL22 DDR4 RAM. It worked fine except that it runs at 2933Mhz instead of 3200. Other than that, no issues. I'm really sorry to hear your situation. There's no obvious reason the new RAM shouldn't work so maybe its a BIOS protection issue. I love the ZBook so I hope you get your problem resolved. Maybe try PNY RAM with a matching 3200 Mhz speed.

      I am sharing your pain😂 My 17 ZBOOK G8 is having ram upgrade problem, i bought the same crucial memory chips (2x32gb) putting them on slots 2 and 3 under the back cover, with the existing 2x16gb under the keyboard, but it wont start, fans spinning hard, has your problem resolved yet? thanks

      @@andysilvers9532 Thanks Andy for replying, just wondering for your own upgrade, do you use the same ram capacity per stick as the pre-installed ram stick to put onto slot 2 and 4 on under the back cover?

      I ordered my Zbook with only 8gb ram. I filled the other 3 slots with 8gb crucial ddr4 3200 Mz ram. It worked perfectly other thank running at 2933 Mz which is not a huge deal.

    Got the 17 inch G8 with i9 11900h and RTX A3000, it was about €4.500 in Jan. 2022. Performance is as expected, the "large" VRAM helps a lot with AI application usage and development but i cannot use 100% Power for a long time, at least not on a summer day when it has more than 24 degrees celsius in my room. It tends to overheat and shut down immediately or reduce cpu power to 1Ghz for a while. Aside from that i had bluescreens from graphics issues about every week until i installed the newest nvidia drivers and tossed the drivers from HP. After 2 years, one of the 2 fans stopped working, i need to send it now to a different country for repair lets hope i get it back in one piece :D Overall all consumer gaming laptops i had so far were much better in the overall experience.

    love your reviews. Quick question, if anyone knows. Bought same refurbished model, and it seems to be running a bit worm at the speakers area and also at the back top side. Is that normal or should i be worried? Temps of cpu is around 50° idle

    • @andysilvers9532
      @andysilvers9532  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it was like that for me too. The vapor chamber seems to store heat for a while. My Lenovo gets hot but cools down very quickly

    • @haraldjordan8627
      @haraldjordan8627 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kindorb11 its the same for me, even worse, 1 of 2 fans stopped working even so i needed to send it for repair. However, even when both fans are working, it cannot stand 100% utilisation for long time. I thought about getting a cool station but noticed that my zbook is special in airflow: usually they suck air from bottom and blow out side or rear but my zbook sucks from rear and blows to bottom. I did not yet find a cool station for this airflow type but placing a book under it helped a lot to keep it cooler. Also when 1 fan was broken, i limited max. CPU usage to 75% in windows power management. @andysilvers9532 can you confirm that yours blow out to bottom too? (maybe mine is wrongly wired :D)

    • @andysilvers9532
      @andysilvers9532  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@haraldjordan8627 My ZBook Fury G8 never blew out to bottom, but it did get hot quickly. I think it's partially an issue with 11th gen CPU's and the vapor chamber absorbing heat that then can't be easily removed. I used a cooling pad and it worked quite well, though I was cautious not to buy top spec with i9 or a4000 since I didn't trust HP to cool it or power it.

    • @kindorb11

      @@haraldjordan8627 Nope, did not blow out to bottom. But i replaced it with fury 16 g9 i7-12850HX and a3000. Way cooler and quieter.

      I have the HP studio g8 It's a step down from this laptop in the video. with Intel 11 Gen i9 11900h with RTX A3000.
      When I game on it gets annoying loudly sometimes. There is no way to control the fan speed or the thermal profile. Also, you can not underclock the CPU.
      NO, it's not worth gaming at all.
      To be frank, knowing what I know now I would have not bought my laptop at all.

    Hi folks. 200 watt Power brick. It's not a flaw and it certainly is not fatal. It's not a question how much power the power brick produces, it's down to what the laptop needs. This HP may be more efficient than the Dell unit quoted in the review and not need more than 200 watts.

    • @andysilvers9532
      @andysilvers9532  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What's the fatal flaw? 🤔

    • @andysilvers9532
      @andysilvers9532  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically it's the power because the limited power brick means this laptop can't compete in raw performance with 15 inch gaming computers.

    • @andysilvers9532

      Not at all sweet pea. I was saying that since it doesn't have the power of a gaming laptop but is double the price, many people will avoid it over other options with similar specs. In other words, hps decision to make it less powerful could cost them customers who would otherwise enjoy the features.
