Good to see some competition for Samsung as it has been clear for a few years that Samsung has not really got foldables right and is just using its monopoly position meaning consumers get a relatively flawed design. Now I see the OPPO as a far superior Flip, offering a compact front display opening to simply a bigger display for some multi-app action when needed. The front display, which most of us will still use the majority of the time is very usable unlike the Fold3. Where as the VIVO is a phablet front opening to a tablet and more a competitor to the Fold but again with a superior front display. Add in that the VIVO and OPPO have no gaps and less pronounced crease and a lower price then they are for me the best choices if you live in China. Which one depends on your user-case. I am a techie through and through but have been left cold by the Fold design choices and feel that Samsung has been way off the mark with their choices so have not bothered. I am def interested in the other two but would probably get the new Mate Xs out of all of them. These are unlikely to be global this year so the Pixel Book (Fold) will be my first dabble into bigger folding phones as the rumour is that this will also have a better aspect ratio for the front display. I mean, come on Samsung, it is clear as day you have got the front wrong, just get on and fix that and use the butterfly hinge even if it means paying royalties rather than keeping with your own design to save money! I suppose whilst YT creators and US buyers keep slapping $2000 down for the Fold they have no incentive to fix, which is a big miss by Samsung.
Yeah you could say this about Samsung in general. They have no Android competition in the USA anyway and they have been increasingly anti consumer ever since. Apple and Samsung account for 90 percent of carrier purchases and if you ask an American to even name an Android phone besides a galaxy they will look at you funny I hope the south Korean FTC investigation puts a scare into them but as long as the mhkbd of the world carry samsung s water I am not optimistic.
@Carl Gunderson …because consumers see that it is done better and cheaper they are less willing to buy the Fold, as I will not as I do not want to spend $1800 on an inferior product. I suspect that the US anti-consumer market will never get OPPO, VIVO or Huawei but we can easily import them to Europe. That is why Samsung dumps Exynos on Europe as we have an open competitive market and can buy better stuff than Samsung, so Samsung does not bother here. Instead it concentrates on dominating and keeping its Samsung fans happy in the US, so that it wipes out competitors like LG. Glad I live in a market where we can get 10X the choice of the US.
@Carl Gunderson Like Vision said in Captain America Civil War: "Our very strength invites challenge." The mere existence of the Z Fold series has opened a path for competition like the Mate X2, Oppo Find N, and Vivo X Fold. Just because these Chinese phones aren't sold everywhere in the world, that doesn't mean they don't compete against Samsung. Stop being ignorant. 😂😂😂

I really like the Vivo here, because I personally think big screens are great to have on a, phone. With that 6.5 inch screen on the outside and 8 inch one when unfolded. That looks, like a lot of fun to me. But kudos to you Ben for highlighting some issues that can kinda ruin the whole experience here for some. For me it would be that notification issue, that can be annoying. However if I really had to pick between these 3 great foldables, I would go for the Oppo. Its just feels like the smart choice due it's form factor and more ergonomicl design. Thank you for the great content Sir👏👏🙂
Samsung's multitasking is undoubtedly the best, but Oppo's multitasking access and activation gestures are really the best thought out and the most intuitive.
I recommend using the apps edge panel for the Z Fold3 to get easier and faster access to split screen multitasking. Once you add your mostly-used apps there, it's just a matter of press and hold, then drag and drop to the side of the screen you want the app to be in. Plus, the apps edge panel also has the option to view all apps where you can do the drag and drop feature as well.
@@bensgadgetreviews you can do the same with the Find N too. If you tab on an app which will support Floating window from the Side bar, the app will open in floating window. Drag it to the screen it will go in Split screen. No need to do 4-finger pinch or Swipe gesture
Another awesome review Ben. Does enabling Multi-Window, freeform windows and force activities to be resizable in the developer settings not make a difference in creating floating windows?
The Huawei Mate Xs2 goes back to the folding backwards way, I found it feels really nice in the hand. Can’t wait to see if you’ll be doing a hands on/review.
So does it get push notifications????? Or push notifications problems like normal Chinese roms give????? No Push notifications plagued me with a few past Chinese phones
I’m getting this phone soon and intend on using adb commands to turn off doze on top of allowing for background usage. I need notifications in a timely manner so this is pretty important
I agree with you, but in the other hand you don't pay 1300 bucks for a device and then settle and learn to cope with all the flaws and shortcomings of it! For the price tag it would performance almost perfectly! Is cheaper than the Galaxy Fold and on paper it has a better camera system.
Cool device. I have a question man could you use an alternative store when using Huawei Mate Xs and Xs 2 like the store called Aptoide? I'm in USA in Philly would that device work on my regionThank you for your answer in advance
Been waiting for this one Ben! Excellent job. Question: how is the inner screen brightness and feel of the screen material compared to the Fold 3? And the haptic feedback?
Screen brightness is fine but not as bright as fold 3. The screen feels better than fold 3 though because it doesn't have a harsh crease. It's also using ultra thin glass so it doesn't feel plasticky. Haptics are ok. Not as good as fold 3's. It's a bit faint.

Fold 3 user here and I am very interested in this phone. Kinda bummed me out about the shortcomings pertaining to the multitasking. This is a feature I use pretty regularly. Are you able to at least make a full screened video into a mini windowed video like in the fold 3?
Hey Ben, for the floating window, does it work if you convert a third party app into a system app? Also, for the rotation of the apps while multitasking, is it possible to use an app that forced rotation like Rotation Control?
I don't know about converting third party app to system app, but the second part about forcing rotation doesn't work. Rotating the screen will just have home screen rotate but the split is still vertical
@@bensgadgetreviews Yeah, I meant forcing the rotation of the apps, not the screen, with Rotation Control. You can force an app to be on landscape or portrait mode, but I don't know if it'll work as intended for the split screen.
@10:28 Does the split screen orientation not adjust when you rotate the phone? I didn't see you do it on camera so thought I'd ask. Also what does the four squircle icon do on the split screen menu?
No, rotating doesn't fix the issue. The screen just rotates and it's still vertical split. And the four squares is just to go back out to app tray to pick another app.
Hi Ben. Are you in able to change the DPI settings at all through developer options? In fact, can you enable developer options in the first place? I like to tinker with the phone to exactly how I want it and developer options is crucial for me.

I really hope this comes to the rest of the world soon. I have money burning a hole in my pocket. The Z Fold 3 is just not quite there. It was too incremental of an upgrade compared to previous models. The Vivo and Oppo both add significant usability improvements.
Though I will say, the implementation of the fingerprint scanner on both the external screen and the internal screen is an interesting take on this. Kind of wish that vivo actually had a market presence in the western market. They make some pretty good devices
I would like to believe there’s some way to get better multi window support by downloading something from the app store or something but I’m not sure about that one. But either way I’m really impressed by this one! And it looks like the Huawei MateXS2 came out just in time lol can’t wait to see you review that one as well

Great Great Video Ben! Really appreciate it as I try to do my due diligence prior to purchase . Great tips on the notifications. App tray info kinda cuts off but I'm assuming it's a simple fix. Again Thanks so much for the in depth and great review!
That Oppo find N would’ve been in my pocket without hesitation if it weren’t for the 60hz front panel. If it were 120 or 90 even, I’d get it in a heartbeat. I’ve come to love small phones but still am getting the behemoth Vivo x fold because I think I’ll enjoy origin os and the hardware.
60hz won't be an issue to be honest and rather it will help in conserving the battery life . I have both 60hz and 120hz on my oppo phone and keeping my phone on 60hz actually gives me 3-4hrs+ SOT as compared to the 120 hz
You can run all the apps in floating window if you hold the icon of the app you want, then go to (app info) then (single app settings), then turn the (floating window) on. Great Video and can't wait to see your review for Mate Xs 2
Hey, thanks for that tip of locking the apps so notifications keep coming in, I did have them in high power consumption but once in a while notifications wouldn’t arrive, hope by locking the apps as you did will do the trick. 👍
Excellent review Ben, very comprehensive, but is this another phone that does not include a MicroSD slot for storage. The companies started this monster!!!, they have the cards out there a lot of us got used to being able to make our own memories the day they took away the ability to do it ourselves,or have they forgotten what they made these cards for!!!.🤔😉😎
Yeah it's a pain point to force people to pay extra $150-200 for 256 GB, even if they might no need it. Expandable storage is not only good for swappable storage but it saves you money at point of purchase. Just buy 128 GB model and, if needed, added a $30 SD card to double it. If not, you save money. I'll be hanging on my my LGs and note 9 for as long as they keep working. Absolutely hate the last 2 gens of Qualcomm flagships, removal of charger, 3.5 jack and sd cars. It's outrageous

What about the Huawei Mate X2? I'm currently using it as my daily driver with GAPPS fully working (through unofficial methods) and I think the camera system is probably better than the Vivo X Fold? I guess for the average consumer Huawei Mate X2 is out of the question because of GAPPS..
Do you have a video on how to set everything up on the vivo fold to make it as close to the samsung as possible? I just got my fold in and some settings are not in english regardless of choosing english, so I'm hesitant to move my phone over until I get everything going...Especially removing bloatware, which I haven't figured out how to do.
Hey Ben, I've noticed that your ZFold3 screen protector is peeling off from the top hinge....seems like it's becoming a common issue as it's happening on mine too but from the bottom hinge
On Gboard you can press and hold the language switcher to change keyboards. Not sure if swiftkey has a similar feature though. Separately, on Samsung devices, there's a setting in 'keyboard list' for 'keyboard button on nav bar'. Enabling this adds a button below any keyboard to allow for even quicker switching, bypassing the need for the keyboard maker to implement.
I have a Z Fold 3 and I don't plan on upgrading to the 4 anytime soon. I love this phone because it gives me the ability to do things that I would normally do on a tablet, but now I can just carry the one device and I can troubleshoot my software at work, watch videos, and do anything I need to do. This phone is not supposed to be a great camera phone because of its size. If you want a really good camera you get the Ultra.
Hi! Did you experience difficulties on setting a new fingerprint - I have a Vivo X fold and it kicks me off while trying to scan a finger to set a new fingerprint. Thanks in advance!
I got my X Fold + today, the horizontal split now work on the outer screen for all apps but keep revert to the vertical split if unfolded, I bet Vivo are working on this. The second bit regarding the keyboard switching is not that problematic for me since I use navigation button instead of gesture and there's a switch keyboard switch button in the navigation bar whenever a keyboard is open. Love it so far, hoping for move software improvement.
I left Samsung once when I got the Huawei Mate 20 pro a few years back. Now I may be leaving them again going from the z fold series in which I've owned 1,2, and 3 now. I will opt for the Vivo X Fold over the Samsung Z Fold 4 and over the Oppo, Huawei ans Honor foldable devices. It's just something about the Vivo 1 that I like.
Anyone have an opinion how this phone would run on Verizon 5g and or 4g in USA? I really like what I am seeing but scared to drop $2,000.00 if mobile data doesn't work and/or Verizon won't activate the phone.
Thank you so much for your review. If the z fold 4 is not satisfactory for me, I'll definitely think about the vivo! The only 2 things I'm going to really miss are the s pen support and the Samsung pay because I use them frequently.
vivo phone, it is still better, the best thing is to have better battery performance, big screen, and better camera, and you see that you have the best there is, that makes you feel very good
The ultimate folding phone will have a 6.8 inch outer screen, light weight, best hinge, small crease, stylus slot, 5000+ battery, incredible multitasking UI, top camera, IP rated, global release version, 1tb storage.
@@bensgadgetreviews Thanks Ben but some people have reported that the third party launcher doesn't stick and that it reverts back to the native launcher every time the home button is pressed. Is this something that you've been able to test?
Great review. I like how you report on some of the problems an importer may encounter. Sadly I had to return my Oppo X3 Kodak Edition because it could not send or receive group or picture text through google messages. I'm rooting for OnePlus to make a foldable comparable to the Find N for the States.
Hi What will happen if I leave the x fold as it is, used it as it came from the factory. Does these Chinese pre-installed apps or Chinese bloatware will hurt my phone in any way? I’m not talking apps taking storage space, I’m not talking battery drain, but I’m talking hacking my info or sharing my private data with any party…etc. I want to buy the Chinese version as it still no news about the global version release of x fold, but I’m caution about the Chinese rom/apps… and I’m not the geek so I want you to clarify this. Thank you for your support.
Totally agree about the software on oppo. I have been using oppo find X5 pro for the last 4 weeks and they need to improve their android experience. Sadly very powerful Snapdragon 8 gen 1 doesn't always get a lot of performance. Sometimes I need to reset this device as it will get Frozen occasionally.
From which site you are recommending to buy it online
Great video as always Ben! Do you know if it has a screen protector on the outside or main display?
There is screen protector for outside screen yes
@@bensgadgetreviews Thank you
I would like to believe there’s some way to get better multi window support by downloading something from the app store or something but I’m not sure about that one. But either way I’m really impressed by this one! And it looks like the Huawei MateXS2 came out just in time lol can’t wait to see you review that one as well
Great bro. PLEASE how to install the full Google apps, on Vivo x fold
And chrome app it is working fine on it???
I'm definitely getting this device when that price comes way down. I love everything about it
Hello Mr. Ben! Watch your reviews ALL THE TIME! Love your channel and videos 😎👍
Got an off topic question for ya; The intro and outro music is nice, who is it?
Oh and I had completely forgotten about the OPPO Find N. (Wished you would have demonstrated it's use of splitscreen functionality as well though....)
Thank you! The music is by my friend Black Jade. The song is "Say". You can find her on youtube just search black jade music. She's the Asian girl with pink hair
@@bensgadgetreviews Wow thanks for replying!!!
Hey Ben did Honor update the Magic V software yet? Do you still have that phone? I heard that the V2 will have a 5000 mha battery.
Great Great Video Ben! Really appreciate it as I try to do my due diligence prior to purchase . Great tips on the notifications. App tray info kinda cuts off but I'm assuming it's a simple fix. Again Thanks so much for the in depth and great review!
Thanks for watching!
Can't wait to see the Mate Xs2!
Oppo find N my favorite Size.
Hi, no, enabling floating window does not fix it. I think that floating window means when you notifications in a popup menu.
Thanks for this video Ben. Love the hardware but software is king for me. Going hold out for Z Fold 4 and whatever google is working on
Great review as always. Is it dual Sim and also how is the 5g speeds? Thanks Ben 👍🏻 keep up the good work
Hey, thanks for that tip of locking the apps so notifications keep coming in, I did have them in high power consumption but once in a while notifications wouldn’t arrive, hope by locking the apps as you did will do the trick.
Even worse , Samsung only includes 8 GB of RAM on 128 GB s22 ultra. Serves no purpose but to force people to go up a tier.
nice review. can you PLEASE test, if some PENs will work with the Vivo fold? maybe the samsungpen or a universal Touchscreen Tablet pen ? please tell me if it works. it would be a dream if this will work! oh, and thatnks a lot for the battery / notification fix. this helps
No it won't work, sorry
@@bensgadgetreviews you already tested?
@@TobiLotta yes
@@bensgadgetreviews with which stylus /pen?
@@TobiLotta I think it won't work,Because screen writing needs to install a hardware layer under the screen, not just the pen.if they got this, they must show it.
♥️🙌Whats up uncle Ben. I got this boy X Fold from trinity.
about push notifications:
at 7:12 this is not only what you have to do .
you also have to press and hold on Whatsapp app icon> app info> permission> single permission settings > auto start enable . (auto start enabled by default in usa, but in Chinese frimware nothing enable by default so you have to full control it manually)
also auto start is not the same as a startup ! But I enabled both thought.
This device is actually first Chinese device that work very well in USA. I don't have any notifications problems
Thanks man! How long did it take Trinity to ship to you?
@@bensgadgetreviews 4 days lol from HK to USA !!
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. Does the Vivo X Fold have any problems sending / receiving group text or pictures through google messages.
@@toysupra09 this phone fully loaded with Google services. Every single function is working
@@PhonesOnaDailyBasis Thank you for taking the time to share this information with the community. Can you please let us know if you are able to use VoLTE or VoWIFI? I had to sell my OPPO Find N because I wasn't able to use any of these two options on Tmobile.
Wow you sold me on the vivo, I'm just gonna wait for the mi 12 ultra reveal and then decide which one to get although I wanna try a foldable for once
The Samsung crease is so ugly. People always say "it disappears." No, it doesn't .... It stands out like crazy. And you can feel it.
you are the best tech reviewer thank you
Thank you!
Absolutely Great info from a Great man that knows he's tech!👌..thx ben 👍
What about the Huawei Mate X2? I'm currently using it as my daily driver with GAPPS fully working (through unofficial methods) and I think the camera system is probably better than the Vivo X Fold? I guess for the average consumer Huawei Mate X2 is out of the question because of GAPPS..
Yeah, I love the mate x2 but it's a non starter for most people
Do you have a video on how to set everything up on the vivo fold to make it as close to the samsung as possible? I just got my fold in and some settings are not in english regardless of choosing english, so I'm hesitant to move my phone over until I get everything going...Especially removing bloatware, which I haven't figured out how to do.
Hey Ben, I've noticed that your ZFold3 screen protector is peeling off from the top hinge....seems like it's becoming a common issue as it's happening on mine too but from the bottom hinge
Yes it is!
Can't Vivo push a software update to allow for an horizental split screen?
The Vivo X Fold looks fantastic
On Gboard you can press and hold the language switcher to change keyboards. Not sure if swiftkey has a similar feature though.
Separately, on Samsung devices, there's a setting in 'keyboard list' for 'keyboard button on nav bar'. Enabling this adds a button below any keyboard to allow for even quicker switching, bypassing the need for the keyboard maker to implement.
Swiftkey does not, hence the trouble on the Vivo X fold
What are you thought about OnePlus rebranding realme phones
Do you think that it's a start for the oneplus downfall
I don't really care it is what it is
I have a Z Fold 3 and I don't plan on upgrading to the 4 anytime soon.
This is treat for the eyes! 😍
Hi! Did you experience difficulties on setting a new fingerprint - I have a Vivo X fold and it kicks me off while trying to scan a finger to set a new fingerprint.
Thanks in advance!
Great content keep it up as always Ben's Sir
I love the OPPO Find N😍
The front screen of zfold 3 is way too narrow, I believe that z fold 4 will be the same.
Hi do it have the call recorder?
@@peterchua7519 I saw the option but never use it, will try later on
Are they able to show youtube videos in landscape mode now in the split screens?
Battery vivo is better than fold3 ?
Samsung has better software. But the vivo design is so much better
On Samsung phone you can also multi task by long pressing multi-task on screen button or using the side slide over panel
vivo phone, it is still better, the best thing is to have better battery performance, big screen, and better camera, and you see that you have the best there is, that makes you feel very good
What I love about vivo
They put always best camera hardware
But gives a very unpolished software 🥲
How long have you been using that Z Fold 3? I saw that screen protector is starting to peel..
Since before day one. Mid August.
Waiting for your x80 pro review soon !
I have the fold 3. I love the front screen. I type and text with one hand, so the front screen is perfect imo.
Very good and key aspects of software review.... Really a hardwork 👌❤️
The ultimate folding phone will have a 6.8 inch outer screen, light weight, best hinge, small crease, stylus slot, 5000+ battery, incredible multitasking UI, top camera, IP rated, global release version, 1tb storage.
Hopefully z fold 4 will be wider like the vivo
Can a third party launcher be used?
Yes it can.
@@bensgadgetreviews Thanks Ben but some people have reported that the third party launcher doesn't stick and that it reverts back to the native launcher every time the home button is pressed. Is this something that you've been able to test?
andriod auto can support? did u try it
Great comparisons.👍
Great review. I like how you report on some of the problems an importer may encounter. Sadly I had to return my Oppo X3 Kodak Edition because it could not send or receive group or picture text through google messages. I'm rooting for OnePlus to make a foldable comparable to the Find N for the States.
Hi
What will happen if I leave the x fold as it is, used it as it came from the factory.
This would never happen on galaxy s22 which I'm testing at the moment 😍
Sorry we don't agree there. I just meant Oppo's Chinese ROM also has the same notifications issues. Otherwise I like colorOS better than OneUI
Has Origin OS3 fixed the floating window and split screen limitations?
I like the size of the Find N more
