  • We went to Changi Airport in SINGAP🔴RE!!!
On our way to #AFRICA we visited Changi airport in Singapore. Famous for its butterfly garden, movie theatre, and swimming pool it has been rated as the World's Best Airport for the 8th consecutive year!
We also stop into JEWEL, perhaps the most futuristic man-made structure in the world! Here’s some interesting facts about the JEWEL:
🗿 The sculptures in Topiary Walk are made from biodegradable and organic materials
Did you know that Jewel was strategically designed to optimize sustainability?
🍩 Its donut structure is built to reduce heat gain and provide cool conditions with less emissions.
🌴 The extensive tree canopies help in providing shade and creating a cooler environment, while cool air is also supplied through concealed vents (some even cleverly disguised as benches).
🪵 Nothing goes to waste - even the trees from other parts of Changi Airport. Some of the furniture at Jewel is made from trees that used to be at the former Terminal 1 open-air Car Park.
⛲️ The most iconic structure of Jewel Changi Airport, the HSBC Rain Vortex, stands at an impressive height of 40m, making it the world's tallest indoor waterfall. Structural features are built into Jewel's exterior to channel water to the ring, which then distributes water down the HSBC Rain Vortex, giving it the circular effect.
🌳 The oldest trees in Jewel are at least a century old!!
🌿 There are more than 2,000 trees and palms, over 100,000 shrubs in Jewel, making it one of the largest indoor gardens in Singapore. The oldest residents in this vast greenery are a pair of olive trees that are at least 100 years old. Originating from Spain, the trees weigh 3.5 tonnes each.
🤖 Robots and AI are introduced to maximize the guest experience and automate processes such as cleaning, serving and providing information.

Changi is pronounce as Chang-gee not Chang-guy.
    Well research and well presented.
Changi Airport is a good example of ‘man made structure, yet coexisting with nature’
    Welcome to Singapore. 🙏

Probably one of the most intelligent and informative appreciation of The Jewel at Changi Airport, Singapore 🇸🇬
And, all look like a unscripted. Many are attracted by the beauty but few appreciate what it took to design and build it, and maintain it. Thank you!

      @@symbioticfuture Dr Nicolene,
In many ways, Changi Airport & The Jewel is like a little “window peek” or “real-life trailer” of Singapore and the modus operandi of our incumbent government (and civil servants). But like any other country, Singapore isn’t perfect. Always a state in progress and existentially evolving.

She said Changi but pronounced it as Changai. It's like how people pronounce fungi differently. Appreciate that you're taking the time to correct common misconceptions about Singapore but please do so with a positive intention to educate rather than one of condescendence or intolerance.

Haha the mispronounction of Changi to Changhai was the first time I ever heard, but it's all good tho. Quite a numbers of westerner do often get the pronounction wrong. Like for example some will pronounce as Chan-Gee instead of Chang-Yee, the "i" in Changi is main focused so the correct pronunciation will be "ee". Another one often mispronounced was the famous singaporean cafe called Ya Kun Kaya Toast, but some will pronounce as Kayak instead of Ka-Ya. Our english is different from the american english

@@symbioticfuture Sure, here are some of my recommendation...
Garden by the Bay - one of the attraction in singapore, build like an alien nature park with tall man-made tree called "Supertrees" that have the music light show every night during 7:45pm and 8:45pm. It was free to roam around the park, there's also two dome that you cannot miss it. It was called "the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest", they are rated as the world's largest glass greenhouse. The Flower Dome is literally what it name says, the huge dome with ton of exotic flowers and plants all over the world. The Cloud Forest is the more popular attraction which basically is the futuristic rainforest in the dome. Currently there is the collab going on between Cloud Forest and the Avatar movie the event supposedly to be ended in april but they extended till june. (Highly recommend that you go there during late afternoon to see the sunset within the dome for some of the most amazing view). The two domes are not free and I suggest that you purchase the tickets online for cheaper deal
Fort Canning Park - one of the famous park in singapore, it is an rich cultural heritage park that filled with historic anicent building from the kings of the past. Full of greenery to see while you walking through the hill pathway. It was also has the popular "Tunnel Spot" where lot of tourists came lining up just to take instagram photo. It's all free
Singapore Botanic Garden - the popular tourist and local attraction, the garden is the first UNESCO Heritage Site in Singapore. So as you expect most of the stuff are now well-funded by UNESCO. It has so many plants, flowers, trees that most of them are label to tell you some details or the origin just like what you see in Jewel. it also have wildlife just freely roaming around like otters, rooster, giant monitor lizard, etc. It also have cafe if you're hungry, it also has museum some are free. it also housed the most iconic singapore tree in the botanic garden was the $5 singaporean money note. The tree is still exist there and make sure you have that $5 to compared with the tree. it's all free except for some indoor area like the "Orchid Dome" but you can purchase ticket directly if you would like to go in and see orchid flowers, the nationality flower of singapore
Rifle Range Nature Park - a newly opened walking trails park in 2022, this park is build as an high tech tekking nature. This park is first in singapore to have energy net with build-in solar panels to harvest more energy to the site which make the ecosystem stay very healthy. The boardwalk are spread across 7km and every boardwalk you walk through will have different set of scenery. It's all free
MacRitchie Reservoir Park - This park is the most popular hiking trails park in singapore, the park offers hikers beautiful tropical scenery, variety of wildlife and peaceful. For amazing sight, walk your way up to the "Treetop Walk". When you are there, on the standing suspension bridge to catch the bird eye view of everything. Please do take note that the bridge is also the monkeys wildlife favorite hangout area so please do not have foods in your hands, they're usually harmless and unbrothered with humans unless you have foods. It's all free
Singapore Zoo - ranked as the best in Asia and within top 10 in the world by international wildlife, this zoo is massive it has 4 parks, "Singapore Zoo, River Wonder, Night Safari, Bird Paradise". The zoo are famed for having realistic interaction meaning that most animals are not caged in, as they can roam freely or fly over your head even when you eat at the zoo restaurant and some random peacock will walk through you while you're eating. All 4 parks have their respective individual price tickets, but if you have to choose 1 out of 4 parks then I would recommend River Wonder or the Bird Paradise. River Wonder for reason is that it is more popular, the cheapest and it's also the only park where you get to see the famous cute panda. Panda are the mascot for the singapore zoo. Bird Paradise is the newly zoo park that is ranked the largest bird park in Asia. For reference you can google the bird paradise site image to see how beautiful it was build. I highly suggest that you purchase your ticket online for this one as well
I hope that my list is good enough and enjoy Singapore :)

Singapore 🇸🇬 is not your typical South East Asia city that you have visited i.e. Thailand🇹🇭, Philippines 🇵🇭, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Vietnam 🇻🇳 e.t.c. A combination of Modern Architecture surrounded by old British 🇬🇧 colonial buildings with lush foliage on the skyscrapers. Very westernized and contemporary yet still preserve the old rustic looks of old village settings. The price of accommodation and food tends to be on the pricey side if you dine on a mostly touristy flank. Go to hawker centers for cheaper options in Singapore 🇸🇬. There is plenty of it here and to approximate is beyond comparison. Hope you relish the adventure of staying here in Singapore 🇸🇬.
