Thank you Payette Forward guys 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Great info, thanks. For some strange reason when I turn WiFi off on my AW 9 it turns back on in several hours. How can I keep it off to conserve battery?
Hmm, maybe I missed it. But what settings need to be on that you recommend off why you want to turn off optimized settings? I feel like this is a good setting to leave on for battery longevity
If you track your sleep, having it on is redundant considering optimized charging is really useful for those who charge overnight like their iPhone.
You guys are life savers. I got a second hand Apple Watch Series 5 off Facebook for £30 (the screen was cracked and fallen off but I paid an extra £30 to get the screen stuck down) and the battery life is not the best. This video helped a lot. One thing though, don’t turn off the optimized charge limit because it can damage the battery if it changes up to 100% and stays on charge at 100% for too long.
Great advice, gentlemen, thankyou 👍👍👍👍
Thank you Payette Forward! Your settings and battery guides are the best!
I got my Ultra 2 about 4 days ago; I have only placed it on charge when I shower, and so far, it is currently on 80% battery life, which is incredible and works for me. That includes using it for workouts and monitoring all health and sleep activities. I have not used it for music or anything else so far.
Thanks for the video! Do you find some complications would drain the battery faster?
Thanks so much guys, much appreciated
Hey, what was the outcome of the whole thing? How much longer do your battery last now? Thanks for the video 😊
10 minutes of extra battery life.
@@kdm7820you did something wrong then. I constantly get 14-17 minutes more all day long
@@kdm7820😂😂
I stopped the raise to wake and doubled my battery life from that alone. What's also good is as soon as you turn the watch away the display turns off immediately too.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Hey PayetteForward, I have a question regarding background app refresh, is it safe to turn off heart rate, blood oxygen and mindfulness? will it affect my apple series 9 ability to record heart data?
I just got the Apple Watch series 8. I have it set in app view, list view, which I love, but when I rotate the crown to get what I need it doesn’t have the spin wheel effect like I have seen in your video and others. I love that effect. Is there a setting I am missing. I have checked everything. It’s driving me insane. Please help!!!!!!
nice clear and structured video thx guys
Wow just stumbled on this I get so jaded with TH-cam review channels but this one looks like some really solid and useful content
Is it ok to let the battery get to the red? Mine is newer SE2 just got but I wear all day and night then charge to 100% in the am before I leave. It got to red a few times with running killing the battery. Should I avoid doing sleep tracking when low to charge overnight instead so no red at 10-15% battery life in the am?
Thank you, this was so helpful! I want to get the Apple Watch SE, and my main concern is the battery life. This should help make it last longer!
Thank you, very good advice!
I am new to Apple Watch. Where do I find the PDF file for this video?
Thank you guys. You all are the best. Seriously. 😎👑🌎♥️
Amazing tips thank you for sharing have a great day ❤
I use to get 5 days on a battery. Charge and one day it went to just 1 day and has stayed there. Hopefully this will get me some time back
Great content!
So what is the record after doing this on 1 charge ???
My battery never went below %100 during this tutorial...I think these tips work, thank you.
Thanks but I wonder how Garmin manages to stay on for 28 days (no gps setting)
Are you going to make a updated version??
Hey guys I have a question please? How can I get podcast and Spotify not to run on my watch when I’m listening to them on my phone? That really drains my watch battery.
Following some of the tips, the always on display setting with small digital clock “spartan view” mentioned in the video, that only seems to display when accessing apps, this would be a very useful feature when wrist down for quick view and no blurred background, with solid black screen instead, if that makes sense to anyone in this thread? Found an older video using 3rd party app. Does anyone know if there is a way to make this config work through the default/latest 10.1 watchOS settings? Thanks!
Good question. The new update did it bad
wait but what are the two settings you have to have on for optimised battery charging to work? did i miss something? I think this was also skipped over in another video?
How long does the battery last after doing all of this?
Thanks!
OK, losing my mind here. I am fortunate that I kept this video so that when I actually purchased an Apple Watch , your posting guided me.
For a time I had a "spartan view" as you describe it (as shown at 4:32). Just that simple digital clock when I wanted to see the time and NOT burn battery!
Somewhere along the line I was experimenting with Settings (yeah, dumb I know) and lost this feature. It's something to do with "Always On Display" but none of the three changes in Settings seem to work for me. Can you please give me the necessary steps to recreate that look at 4:32? Thanks again for this terrific video.
For part 16, i usually hold the power and crown button to force restart it every once in a while, it helps
thank u amazing video
Very useful video.
If you’re using grid view instead of list view. Reduce motion is very noticeable.
It looks so ugly so i turned it back on😂
Doesn't seem to work for me. I don't see the settings icon on my wife's apple watch SE 2nd gen. Perhaps because its non-cellular version and is linked to her iPhone.
THANK YOU. 😍😊👍
Guys… like your videos and would like to ‘join’. But how do i ‘unjoin’ if I don’t want it anymore
For some reason, this videos - and only this video - defaults to play in Spanish dubbed audio. Did something get toggled when you uploaded it?
this is missing 1 great way to save battery. Schedule "sleep" focus mode at night. When the sleep focus mode is on, the "always on display" will turn off on the Apple watch (I wear my watch to track sleep). You can also make "low power" mode automatically turn on in sleep focus mode. Personally I don't turn on this low power mode in sleep mode because I want the heart rate censor still work. Also it's not a bad advice to turn all background refresh off if your watch connects to your phone all the time. All notifications are mirrored from the iPhone. So you can still receive & reply all message notifications just fine.
Does anyone know why my Apple Watch Ultra overnight off of the charger and off my wrist loses like 8% battery? Anyway to fix that? I have already done everything is this video.
“I don’t wanna calm down and relax” 😂😂😂
Thankz
Awesome review, thank you! 💪🏻
11:33 What’s Siren? Is it something you need and if so, how do you get it?
That is a setting that is currently only available on the Apple Watch ultra.
However with the greatly extended battery life of the Apple Watch ultra, I wonder if the advices of this video make sense on the ultra.
Thanks for doing a thorough job. This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. Please keep up the great work. Totally enjoy the video. You guys have a great day. Thanks for being awesome.
This is one of the best videos you’ve ever seen? What? How?
Hi. How do I get the pdf’s of your videos. I pressed the green bar and nothing happened. I don’t see a green button. I’m subscribed does that mean I’m joined? Please help. Thanks
there are two settings for getting this content regularly. "subscribe" means you like the stuff you see and there is no obligation. the channel appears on your subscription list, making it easier to find again. "joining" requires you to pay money for content. Generally this is content that is extra to the list of videos provided by the channel.
Do you have any tips for the samsung galaxy watch 5 ?
I followed the advice from other TH-camrs and your previous video on this subject and now my battery lasts almost two days.
Battery life on 9.5 beta 2 is really good though
Mine lasts 3 days and I followed nothing
SMH…I traded in my Fitbit for an Apple watch and my Fitbit battery lasts for days on end and charges in abt a hour. I have to charge my Apple watch midday this really sucks. Did I make the right decision!
I got optimization off and it still acts like it's on still got to hit the little batt icon and push set to charge to full every time need help apple watch ultra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can this work on series 9 and se2? Thanks!
it should, just skip any settings that are not available on se 2 (eg. always on) or the s9 (idk if anything is ultra 2 specific)
Brain is melting that your name is David Lynch
How do you get that alway on view to show only digital time the clock? Which watchface is this?
I turned my heart rate monitor off too. I never use it but I wish there was just a way to turn it off in the background
My Series 8 battery life is terrible. Whether it’s on low power mode or not. I even factory reset it and it’s still awful.
Forget about the reduced motion increased battery life (maybe?), its so much faster navigating now on the Ultra
Your giving them all your details and all your habits

Cheers. Maybe my Apple Watches won’t drain completely in a day now!
My battery never drains bought December 22 worn it twice
I’m impressed that someone from your generation has a Groovy playlist! 🤩😎🤯
“i don’t want to calm down” no to mindfulness hahahaha
i bought my ultra in October 2022 and now its 97 percent! what should i do?
Keep using it. All normal.
A bunch of settings for saving 10% of battery life,
Am thinking about why Huawei has long-lasting batteries and apple watches have not
Can you guys explain!!!
Leave optimized charging on. When the watch is not charging it is doing nothing. When this feature turns on and you switch to charge to full it will turn itself off. This feature keeps your watch from staying on 100 percent all night when you charge which is not good for a battery
No darned watch is going to tell me to calm down!!
I 'joined' Discord. Have no idea how to download the PDF. HELP!

Does 'Optimized Charging' help to maintain good battery health?
It probably does but you it’s not very good at figuring out when it should kick in. What is bad for battery life in my experience is fast charging. Using fast charging seems to screw up the battery health really bad. I switched to slow charging and degrading seems to have slowed down
@@fuuz642 I gave fast charging too many chances & now my battery health is 88% on a 15 month old iPhone 14. The wireless charging dock I bought is now only a stand
Best way to save battery on those is ... switch them off and buy Garmin or Suunto. Thats all about it.
Remove the watch faces apps off your phones then power cycle the watch and phone and that should fix your watch battery
I turn theater mode when I go to sleep to turn off the always on display
You just needed to turn on “do not disturb” or “sleep” mode, it automatically turns off always on display and notifications
Forgivbe me if you guys have already said this in your videos or not but I've gotta get this out there. Y'all should let people know to NOT download any beta OS systems to their apple watches. I just bought a series 8 and downloaded the apple watch OS 10 to my watch and it completely KILLED my watch's battery life. I went from being able to use it all day to the battery draining about 40% in just a couple hours and I wasn't even using the thing... The beta's for watches is TERRIBAD. It has been a huge headache for me. I wish I would have known better myself.
Optimised battery is the reason why Teslas should only be charged to 65% if it fits within your daily usage. Windows laptops charge to 50 or 80% depending on your choice
I once fell asleep leaving my Apple Watch on charger over night. That drain my battery life.
No. Why would it? It was on a charger.
Disabling Handoff would save battery life as well wouldn’t it?
Did I miss the reason why you want battery optimization off?
Because it makes absolutely no difference at all.
You need this feature only you’re someone who leaves your watch on the charger overnight.
With the very short charge times, I typically take my phone off the charger as soon as it hits 100% (I also get notification on my phone once it’s fully charged).
So I don’t know what the optimised charging really does.
I would personally leave it on. My Apple Watch ultra is at 100% health still and I purchased it at the end of October last year. Wear it every single day and leave it to charge overnight. I’ve also had it on since I got watch and still able to get almost 3 days battery life out of a charge. It’s a setting that will stay on for me.
@@cambuchanan5836you do realize that some of us wear the watch overnight for sleep tracking?
Because they have no idea. They even recommend turning it off on iPhone 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@G.Freeman92you can track your quality and length of sleep. Maybe you’re on some medication and want to see if it helps your sleeping or no. You want to see if you slept deep enough or was it just mainly light sleep. Deep sleep is amazing for the body and mind to recover. Yes the watch won’t help you sleep more, but it can show you when you did sleep well so you can replicate whatever you did to be able to sleep well.
Alright, I just did everything they mentioned in the video. In context, my watch would go down 9 percent an hour on low power mode.
i don't do any of these things and my watch gets 24 hours of battery no problem. charge once a day while i'm showering for about 45 minutes and that's all it needs. not sure it's worth losing any features unless u need it to last longer than 24 hours for some reason
-Turned off Complications on all my watch faces and got more hours instantly.
-got rid of useless apps

Just press the power button for 5 seconds and turn off your apple watch,,you will save battery for your whole life lol😂😂,,,you guys defeated the whole purpose of the apple watch in seconds.
I don’t have an Apple Watch I was just looking to see what battery life the Apple Watch has compared to my Casio vibrating watch which has years of battery life.
I am an Apple user since the very first iPhone came out, although ------ why still to this day one has to deal with such battery hustle with such expensive watch as the Ultra ?? Apple..........My Garmin watch last two weeks with all the bells on and 3 months in battery save mode and both watches are about the same size .
What’s the point of apple making the ultra watch which gives you upto 70 hours of battery life out of the box when you worry about all these small things and turn off all the great features?
When you spent 800 bucks on a watch, I say just live your life and stop worrying about battery.
Well, for one thing, YOUR idea of a ‘Great Feature!’ may NOT be MY idea of a ‘Great Feature!’
The point is CUSTOMISATION’ , but that’s just MY idea and may not be yours.
😎
I’m sure that Apple engineers are 200% smarter than these guys.
None of these tips work if it’s the BUG IN 10.1 which Has rendered by watch useless. Charges only to 75% overnight, charges very hot and battery runs out in a few hours.
And when youre ready u got a mechanichal Watch and no Smart Watch anymore 🎉
so just turn everything off LOL what's the point if you paid over $800 USD to turn everything off?
You’re great.
Some advice in this video is not good.
Some of these recommendations are utterly stupid, Optimized Charging isn't so your battery lasts longer. It prolongs the overall longevity of the watch's non-replaceable LI battery. I have it on in everything I own from MBA, to the iPhone to my Tesla. For daily use optimized charging should be left on, it prevents the watch from overcharging. If you're going on a trip and want the maximum battery life the you can turn it off and charge the watch to 100%. You can also prompt the watch to charge to 100% so there's really no reason to turn optimized charging off.
If you have to take features off there's no point in getting the watch
It’s called “optimization’ or ‘personalization’. You add things you want/need, remove things you don’t want/need.
People DO have different wants/needs, and I certainly don’t want to be locked into whatever the watch maker decided that i should have or not.
the 80% - 20% rule still remains if you want to use your apple watch for more than 9 months.... the battery gets degraded so fast.
Wrong ! My series 4 is still going strong and it has been charged to 100% every night since I got it, which was when apple released it.
@@mikeclark2248 still, for that much cash you can get a Gshock Rangeman, or mudmaster and it will last you a whole lifetime.
@@mikeclark2248same! Series 3 here. Just got the SE2 today thanks to a promotion through T-Mobile. Otherwise my 3 has been great!
Just using it drains it too fast. I really resent buying it it’s so useless in terms of its battery
