  • 5 Cambodia's airports under construction worth billions of dollars. These airports include both airport rehabilitation and the construction of new airports.
These five new airport projects include Techo Takhmau International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor Airport, Dara Sakor International Airport, Koars Rong Airport, and Battambang Airport.
    1. New Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport
Construction of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, which is scheduled to be launched on 16th October 2023.
The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is an international airport located in Sotr Nikum district, Siem Reap province which will serve the city of Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is situated 18 km (11 mi) northeast of Damdek, 40 km (25 mi) east of Angkor Wat and 50 km (31 mi) southeast of Siem Reap.
It will replace the existing Siem Reap International Airport as the city’s main airport, and will serve as a main airport for the province as well as for Western Cambodia. It will also become the largest airport in Cambodia.
Construction started in July 2018 and was expected to be completed in 2021/22, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of labour and restrictions, it caused delays in work. The airport is scheduled to be open on 16 October 2023.
    2. Dara Sakor International Airport
The construction of Darasakor International Airport in Koh Kong province , which is set to open in the middle of this year, has been postponed again after the construction company requested an extension to fill in some of the remaining shortcomings on May 15, 2023.
This is not the first time that the opening of Kors Kong's Darasakor International Airport has been postponed in 2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Please be reminded that the progress of Darasakor Airport is 100% completed and the construction company has set a flight schedule in the middle of 2023.
Dara Sakor International Airport covers an area of 4.5 hectares in Botum Sakor District, Koh Kong Province, invested by the Chinese company Union Development Group in the amount of $ 200 million (Phase 1) is an investment for Support multi-purpose tourism .
The airport is capable of landing 4E aircraft such as Boeing-777 and Airbus A-340 / A-350. In addition to Darasakor Airport, Koh Kong Province is also preparing to receive a new airport invested by LYP and Thai Airline in Tuol Koki commune, bordering Mondul Seima and Koh Kong districts.
    3. Techo Takhmao International Airport
The new airport site is located about 30-40km south of the city in Kandal province on former farmland and reclaimed land from a lake.
The total land for the airport and development area is 2,600 hectares, making it one of the biggest airports in the world by land size. The actual airport land is 700 hectares, and the airport is not planned to be a mega-airport like Long Thanh or New Manila Airport.
A new airport was first hinted at in 2016 when plans for the current airport expansion were halted. The project was officially announced in January 2018, and construction began in 2019. The airport was officially named Techo Takhmau International Airport in December 2021.
First phase is a Greenfield airport with a total investment budget of $1.5 billion. T I. A, to be developed in three phases, is designed for 50 million passengers, with three runways and a satellite terminal across a total land area of 2,600 hectares.
    4. Koh Rong Airport
The plan mentioned that the Koas Rong 4C Aerodrome is on Koas Rong Island in northwest of Sihanoukville.
The Royal Group Koh Rong Development Company, a Royal Group Co Ltd subsidiary, will build an international airport on Koas Rong which will take five years to complete.
The construction of Koh Rong International Eco-Tourism Airport (Category 4C) in the Koh Rong development area will cost US$300 million and is set for completion within a period of five years.
This development project is under the framework of a multi-purpose joint venture for the whole of Koh Rong city, which is a private sector investment and is similar to the investment of Union Company (UDG) in the Darasakor area
(100% private investment) for the development of multi-purpose projects. This project is in line with the vision, plan, policy and strategic direction of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
In February 2008, Royal Group Co Ltd signed a Koars Rong lease agreement with the Council for the Development of Cambodia to develop the island into business development areas and eco-tourism resorts.
    5. Upgrade Battambang Airport to 4C
It should also be noted that Battambang Airport (or Veal Bek Chan Airport) was first opened during 1967, but after the Khmer Rouge took power in 1975, the airport was completely closed until 1979.

@@bootiful5566 There must be new destinations for tourists in our country and not only the temples or beaches are interesting. The eastern part of the Kingdom, Steung Treng, Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri are attractive places for modern tourists and the future of Cambodian business, because some people love natural landscapes and ancient civilizations and the places, where people need to recover their strengthness and healthyness to return to normal fitness condition.
