The best point you made is that SKG should, in addition to what they have planned, aim to make it illegal for companies to take down private servers of games that are no longer sold, regardless of when the game was released. Personally, I think that even if a game is still being sold, companies should not be allowed to take down private servers, but that probably won't happen.
Im with you but I also understand that that's pie in the sky thinking and companies will always go after private servers not only because of IP reasons but because it looks really bad when some nerd in his basement can run the game better than the giant monolithic company
What if people start mass boycotting a game or do hacks or commit mass downvoting and exploits to ruin an MMO/Live service so they can quickly or as soon as possible get the chance to gain a free game with far less rules and oversight when it shuts down
I highly disagree that it's fine to leave it to people to fix a shutdown game. That's unfair expecting of the people who actually do it having to put all that work in for free just to play the game they bought. I also think you underestimate the amount of games that don't get saved About vagueness for the initiative. Ross could have explained it a lot better but the point wasn't everyone else is vague so we decided to be as well. Rather it was shown as evidence for the fact that the EU mandates how an initiative must be written and the character limit is in fact 1k characters so good luck getting it any more specific than it already is. That's virtually impossible. They did the best they could as far as I can tell Unrelated but a note about men and women and drafting. Men and women may be different on average but each individual is also different from everyone else. That is to say there absolutely are women perfectly fit to keep up with most men in the military. However the point governments make is it's an emergency as you say and since the percentage of women who are fit for the army is so much lower than for men, they don't want to spend the resources checking all women. Not technically fair but it's hard to argue with emergency situations
Yea, we paid for a game that was working fine, than purposely destroyed by its creator, and now we are left to pick up the pieces that might not even be possible. either because the game was destroyed so badly that we can’t fix it, or we just don’t know how. And if the game is on something like a console, then there is no hope at that point. If anyone has to be forced to make this work, it’s the devs and companies that do these bad practices to begin with.
Yah they should fix it, hell they should have fixed long before they launched a movement- it is not pre-draft when you start a movement, video challenge and a donation page XD Comparing yourself to stupid and lesser movements means you are stupid, there are a few movements he could have pulled up that are somewhat less vague and rushed but are respected and successful- does Ross have any form of spine for prep work?????
The EU mandates how initiatives must are written. There is a 1k character limit. They legitimately did the best they could under these restrictions and showing other initiatives was meant to be evidence for that. Also there is no donation page. So if you have a problem with the vagueness then the only alternative is to not have an initiative at all because your initiative must be vague, must point to legislation, and must be no longer than 1k characters. So good luck.
Let the politicians figure it out, my faith in the SKG was already low. Yah much like paper straws and recycling ads- they helps so much for the environment. Also, doesn't he look high or drunk?
Ok, what's the absolute worst scenario do you envision should SKG pass, and is it worse then games being killed as right now? Also, yeah, as said above, "What's the alternative" that has more of a chance to solve the problem of games being killed?
I supported the initiative. Germany made it to the required amount of Votes, just as Poland, Finland, Sweden did.
Good lad
Not pursuing legal action to private servers doesnt stop companies from killing games it only shift responsability to the users.
