Cool, you've ordered the best accessories for it as well! I've just picked up the headstrap mount, and you can probably use it for much more then strapping to your head!
The new GoPro app update, due out in the next few weeks, will also allow you to preview and playback videos, as well as wirelessly copy them across to your smartphone or tablet.

your videos are very helpful thanks a ton ! i ordered my hero 3 black surf edition !! it should be shipping by monday .. so yeah looking forward i also got the (lcd bac pack , and battery bad pack and the head strap mount ) tho i missed out on the suction cup ... but yeah ill pick it up soon ..
Yes, it is - although bear in mind wifi will not work under water. Nevertheless, its good around the pool etc as its completely splash proof etc.
Yes, it'll kill the battery pretty drastically. When using wifi on the camera I always make sure I have the battery bacpac connected!
I have a silver 3+ but I do a lot of skiing and biking and sometimes it is hard to reach the camera on my helmet when I am skiing and I can't tell if it's on or off because I ski at night and sometimes the gopro is on my bike where I can't reach it. So should I even get the remote?

can you help us with the remote? it seems to work only if is connected to either usb port of electric port; otherwise it wont turn on my remote and if i try to turn it off it turns automatically on. it is something we can fix, or do i need to exchanged for a new one?

Yes, although remember wifi does not work under water, so this is good for above-water sports, splashing around the pool, and so on.....

Thanks for the follow up - the remote never gets to the pairing screen. It goes from showing battery power (full) to that searching for WiFi image - pulsing bands
Follow the directions on the back of your remote to put it into pairing mode - basically you need to keep the shutter button pressed as you press the power button to switch the remote on...... this wasn't shown in the video as a new remote comes set in pairing mode already.

I just bought a wifi remote. When I plug to charge, it shows battery charging for a bout 2minutes. Then it turns it self on and wifi signal is showing. Please help. Thanks
how much long distance far? with remote work?
Its rated to work to about 160m if I recall correctly. Ive used it to around 80m or so, and it was perfectly fine - I haven't needed to go any further!

No. Even if the remote is out of water and the camera is under water, it will not work. It may work in VERY shallow water, but otherwise wifi does not work underwater.

Hy! One question I would like to know if the wifi remote that goes also with the wi-fi BacPac (so it's for hero2) it could go in the hero 3 (the wifi remote)

Question - I set up the GoPro app on my iPhone. Could that be messing up my ability to se up remote control ?
No, there are 2 separate wifi settings. When you set it to GoPro App, the camera creates a wifi hotspot for your smartphone to connect to. When you get it to WiFi RC in the WiFi settings, this does not create a hotspot, this only creates a direct connection to a remote.

Sorry if this is too late, but no, not completely. You'll need the new remote with it's added settings button to use it on the GoPro HERO5, or HERO4. :)

Ive had my remote charging from a usb port and it still wont turn on when i hold down the power button. it just blinks the little red light.? It turned on when i had just got it and now i cant get it to turn on again.??
Don't keep the power button pressed - just press and release and it should come on. If not, try charging from a wall outlet rather then a USB port on your computer....
Seems like you can't use your mobile device and the remote at the same time one cancels out the other is there any way around it

Hi! Is there any way to update the firmware for the wifi remote with Hero3+?
Unfortunately not - the wifi remote has a simple task of just displaying the LCD screen of the camera and switching settings - hence it doesn't really need firmware updates as no new functionality is to be added.
The only way to update firmware is to use a wifi bacpac and the Hero2 camera. Not worth it in my opinion as it will achieve pretty much nothing!

My gopro hero 3 remote works perfectly Intill when it's recording and I try to turn it off via the remote, at this point it won't turn off
I have the same problem with my remote and I can not fix it.
This is not brain surgery - the videos make it even easier - however I cannot get my remote to "pair up" with the GoPro3 camera. When turned on, the remote does not show icons of a camera with crossing arrows, it shows the same icon as camera - a wifi signal that never pairs with the camera. I've tried both NEW and CURRENT settings for the remote on the camera - still nothing. Anyone have a clue what's up?
Select the 'NEW' setting on the camera.
When you switch your remote on do you follow the correct procedure to put your remote into pairing mode?? ie. do you get the pairing arrows on the remote also?

Yes you can, but bear in mind the wifi needs to remain on.
this remote sucks , only turns on when pluged into computer , wont work at all unplugged , like it wont hold a charge
Hi. Ive just purchased my GoPro WiFi remote. (brand new/in the box from ebay) I was able to charge it and connect my Hero3 to it plus access all of the functions in the menu too but the screen does not seem to come on or display any of the functions.
Have I done something wrong.??
Patrick Hennessy The screen on the remote should display exactly the same as the LCD on the camera. If it doesn't then the remote is not working properly and needs to be returned/replaced!

Hey my girlfriend lost the charging unit for the remote. is there any way to charge the remote with out the original plug?? also if I put the remote in a water proof bag would the remote work at say 20-30 meters?
The remote is waterproof anyway - its the WiFi signals that do not work under water.
You will need a replacement charging cable for the remote - the GoPro cable will not work.
