Quite liking the BasX A7 I added to my Atmos rig a couple of months back - most affordable piece I could find with adequate power for my particular modest use case.
Emotiva produce top quality equipment at quite modest prices. I have used an XPA2 power amplifier for several years and I could not be happier. The amp delivers over 500 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms. It drives my large floor standing Electrostatics with ease. These speakers can be difficult to drive and I have tried several more expensive amps with disappointing results.

I bought the BasX TA2 for my TV room and secondary system. This system doesn't have a turntable, but I do have a PS Audio PW DS DAC. I play DSD directly streamed from Super Audio CDs out from an I2S port into the PS DAC and using the BasX TA2 it sounds excellent. It's not quite as good as the tube/vinyl/electrostatic system but it holds its own. Nice to have one system with a remote and no hassle digital discs and the ability to amplify TV and Blue Tooth from my phone if I want. So many useful features with the Emotiva and just superb sound from a solid-state amp.
Emotiva is an excellent company. I have their XPA-2 Gen 3 Power Amplifier and their XDA-3 DAC/Preamplifier. I also had their XPS-1 Phono Preamp but replaced it with Parasound ZPhono XRM, in particular because Parasound also had XLR connections. Their service is also excellent.

Years later, my TA-100 is discontinued now but still starts up on the first switch and i can agreee they are great value, would love to upgrade now. Anyone interested in my TA-100 ;-) $450
I bought the cheapest sub Emotiva ever made, used on local FB Marketplace. It is fantastic and works great with my KEF bookshelf speakers! The brand seems quite good. But out of my new purchase price range. Also, as with all brands, it depends on the component! Do not assume everything one brand makes is great. I know of no one brand that makes everything perfectly. Maybe some speaker makers come close by focusing in on one thing and doing it the best.
Emotiva hits great price points because they have no middle man. Design, built then sold all directly. I own a Emotiva amp and feel like the quality is great.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
From everything I read about Emotiva is amps are good. 1 series speakers were great bang for the buck. 2 Series speakers seem to have a subjective divide. Sound processors are universally accepted as sounding great as long as you have the patience to deal with bugs and ok with the privilege of paying to be beta tester.
This may be the same as when McIntosh started but with a different company goal. To provide exceptional audiophile quality components to the masses without cutting corners. USA made is rare.
I like how Paul uses emotiva in his system , I think it would be cool if he had 15 mono blocks in his HT system , why not because you can, have some imagination
Do you have any contact with Stan Warren? Is he alive and well? For those who dont know, PS Audio stands fro Paul and Stan before the parting of the ways.
Emotiva GOOD! Probably the best, cheapest ribbon tweeter speakers out there. Also made with HDF particle board. Id buy their power cables but they are always out of stock. Didn't Klipsch just eat them up?
I agree they try hard and are reputable. However there are popping sounds on their receiver and some processors, for example when shutting the units off or switching inputs. This has been going on for years and not solved yet.
Honest people like you, Paul, is what keeps the industry going by helping listeners become customers when companies are behind their product with no gimmicks. Thanks for that terrific and honest review of Emotiva!
They are buggy they just are , I have the amps and I want to say they’re solid and look great , seem like great quality . Processors are just not there yet . Amps I would buy all day long some audiophiles will cast you to hell for saying that .
Why don’t you ask Daniel what motivated him to send you this question? I don’t know what drives people but he must’ve had a situation with the company.
Nope. I bought a XPA 5 many years ago. One channel was bad out of the box and was returned for repair, they sent it back with the same issue. The amp had a loud hum too. Overall poorly made and sounding Chinese made junk. I bought a Parasound Halo amp shortly after, a much better made amp. I also checked out some Emotiva power cables. The cables had wires that were not terminated under the screw, more poorly made Chinese junk. I returned them.
Actually nominally low impedance . Take a look at Andrew Robinson’s recent review of one their new models. Even with sensitivities as high as 90-ish, that can make for a tough load when driving multiple channels- and there may be other performance characteristics that won’t suit everyone’s taste - but then when your original claim to fame is as a manufacturer of affordable and muscular power amps, the first two issues can be components of your marketing campaign. 😊
Emotiva is great for beginers and people who are cheap. I mean that in a good way. Too much of an audiophile for the speakers but I do have one of their hugh centers and my atmos speakers are Emotiva. One thing, I have never had any of there equipment break. Not once.
While I do like Emotiva, your friendship with them lends a bias. Also, avoiding calling out bad companies is the opposite of doing good. Call out the BS so people know who to avoid giving their money to.
The question becomes with two of them....are you merely unlucky, or did you cause the damage? It's highly improbable that you received two lemons. There are many people who had their products long after the warranty with no issues. Also, they do offer service at a cost for repair of the product after the warranty has expired.
@@EuphoricImpact for absolute certain I did not nor did my friend cause the damage, also the pre amp /processor I purchased just sounded bad and was returned. The amp that blew up for me was the little Mini 50 watt I was using as a desktop low volume amp, one day the smoke just escaped. At any rate I buy lots of gear, Emotiva , Shitt and now Parasound are the only pieces to flat die. The Parasound was DOA so its just bad QA on their part. My Marantz, Pioneer, Denon, AVA and Yamaha amps have all run for years in various systems for years and years without issue. Some under abusive use also.
@@EuphoricImpact "Also, they do offer service at a cost for repair of the product after the warranty has expired." From everything I read about Emotiva is amps are good. 1 series speakers were great bang for the buck. 2 Series speakers seem to have a subjective divide. Sound processors are universally accepted as sounding great as long as you have the patience to deal with bugs and ok with the privilege of paying to be beta tester.
Paul I thought you were going to tell us about the Orange monster in front of you, hopefully you will make a video about it.
This may be the same as when McIntosh started but with a different company goal. To provide exceptional audiophile quality components to the masses without cutting corners. USA made is rare.
Now, now Paul. You're teasing us with that giant driver sitting in front of you! Come on.... spill the beans!
I saw that Driver on the table and thought you guys might be developing subwoofer
Look at that driver basket, magnet and rim thing…
Love that subwoofer speaker, but I wouldn’t put anything on it as you’ve already done……sacrilegious!!!!!!!😂
yes Emotiva is alright - I have the Bas-X 300 poweramp and its great :-)
The orange subwoofer photo bombed us
I like how Paul uses emotiva in his system , I think it would be cool if he had 15 mono blocks in his HT system , why not because you can, have some imagination
I didn't expect Paul to say they're a bunch of crooks ;)
deafbonce avatar 18 inch subwoofer in orange I think?
Sure - my Emotiva A-100 amp has been running great since the day I bought it in April 2020.
Do you have any contact with Stan Warren? Is he alive and well? For those who dont know, PS Audio stands fro Paul and Stan before the parting of the ways.
Emotiva GOOD!
Probably the best, cheapest ribbon tweeter speakers out
there. Also made with HDF particle board.
Id buy their power cables but they are always out of stock.
Didn't Klipsch just eat them up?
I enjoy my 2x one per channel Fosi Audio ZA3.
This is why I watch Paul's videos. His honesty and appreciation for others is getting harder to find in todays world.
I agree they try hard and are reputable. However there are popping sounds on their receiver and some processors, for example when shutting the units off or switching inputs. This has been going on for years and not solved yet.
That subwoofer should be used as a seat cushion for near-field effects. 😂
That subwoofer would make a cool bowl to serve my “death punch” from😂.
Emotiva is great bang for the bucks due to direct 2 customer sales, no middle man
Yes it is !
So okay, Yay to Emotiva, but let's talk Subwoof-age! 🤯
That big orange driver is huuuge!
"I'm not going to bad mouth anybody"..........
What in god's name is that subwoofer driver!? 🤯
Amps are great. Processors? Far too glitchy for the price. Speakers? Ehh... FIne.
What do you think of Ted Denny of Synergistic "research"....he sells better sounding wires, like Audioquest claims to do
not thumbs down for you but dfe for the denboi---what a snake oil, I wished the S Walker Group wasnt so enthralled with him.
I own their amps and love them. The processor though is another story. What a waste of money. I went back to Marantz for my processor needs.
Honest people like you, Paul, is what keeps the industry going by helping listeners become customers when companies are behind their product with no gimmicks. Thanks for that terrific and honest review of Emotiva!
I love my Emotiva speakers.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods (Emotiva speakers) before me.

They are buggy they just are , I have the amps and I want to say they’re solid and look great , seem like great quality . Processors are just not there yet . Amps I would buy all day long some audiophiles will cast you to hell for saying that .
I clicked bcus of the subwoofer.
Why don’t you ask Daniel what motivated him to send you this question? I don’t know what drives people but he must’ve had a situation with the company.
Very bizarre question considering the mountains of evidence of Emotiva being a great company.
That's why Paul answered it. If it had been another company, the question would have been ignored.
Hi Paul do you ever know what the hell you're talking about thanks Paul and have a great day😭😭😭
Just don't gang their speakers up on a typical AVR😅.
Emotiva good, Anthem better.
Emotiva is great for beginers and people who are cheap. I mean that in a good way.
Too much of an audiophile for the speakers but I do have one of their hugh centers and my atmos speakers are Emotiva.
One thing, I have never had any of there equipment break. Not once.
You just increased your customer base.
While I do like Emotiva, your friendship with them lends a bias. Also, avoiding calling out bad companies is the opposite of doing good. Call out the BS so people know who to avoid giving their money to.
2 of the 4 amps I bough from Emotiva died right after warranty and they would not repair.
@@EuphoricImpact "Also, they do offer service at a cost for repair of the product after the warranty has expired."
This is a false statement please try to be accurate with your info there are too many keyboard warriors now. They would not fix the Mini, they did send a schematic though. Im an EE and design my own Preamps and EQ's, maybe Ill try to fix it someday.
