    i believe so much in Pac's artistry that I'm convinced this "theory" is exactly what made him take on this role. He HAD to know that this role was a figment of his character's imagination. He attended performing arts schools & often rapped in parables and code. He would've been able to understand the character from a deeper level & piece together the unspoken/understated motifs.

    I Got The Juice! There’s an alternate ending in this movie where Bishop let’s Q go and falls to his own death. After he hears the police sirens, Bishop looks Q in the eye and says “I’m not going to jail” and let’s his hand go and falls to his own death. That would’ve been a better ending because it shows you that Bishop is a force to be reckoned with.

    It just dawned on me : you guys analyzed the frame where Bishop is on a pinnacle looking down at everything unfolding . well " Bishop " also means one who presides, who overlooks , takes charge of a religious preceding or formal gathering . so Bishop according to your fan theory was overlooking and making sure his " daydream" went as he planned until his daydream consumed himself as well. The Bishop was playing chess to become King but failed . midnight could also be the invert of 12pm when the crucifixion of Christ may have happened. Or approx between the hrs of 12pm-3pm(thats my guess). Which is where the term " witching" hr comes from.

      Ironic, I saw a video about the craft
      The video maker presented an idea that the crazy witch Nancy Downs
      Is the equivalent of Bishop
      Both have poor Father figures (Bishop's father Is suffering PTSD and neglects Bishop, Nancy's step father abuses her and her mother)
      Both are hungry for respect and power (bishop-gun Nancy - witchcraft) both are tormented by a bully whom they kill (Rhodimez and his crew for Bishop, Nancy has Chris who used her for sex tried to rape,) both get a dark power that drives them mad to a point (gun/magic)

    I GOT THE JUICE.
    I really like the take. I can really work with it. But back in the day a filmmaker filled me in on the making of Juice. The director ran out of money and had to take on backers. He wanted Juice to be like a modern day Cooley High or coming of age for hip hop. When the investors came on they wanted it changed so they could get their money back. So instead of them being about regular kids, there had to be action added. They wanted a woman added. If you notice Cindy was only in like three scenes. They probably filmed her in a weekend. Because they had to add the action is why the story takes a turn. So a lot of the impossible scenarios was so they could change the story for the investors. But your take is very solid and one I can believe.

    • @AxiomAmnesia
      @AxiomAmnesia  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You got the juice Cel and thanks for watching! In preparation for the theory, we watched a lot of interviews with the filmmaker and he said he got the characters from interviews or he knew people like this. He also said that he used to jump rooftops as a kid himself. The budget issues sound very plausible and you know that the money men always want to change the art... I hate that aspect of filmmaking.
      With the fan theories, in spite of knowing a lot of the backstory, we stick to only what is in the movie because that keeps the debate about conflicting opinions of actors and other people interviewed from being an issue. Thanks so much for watching!

    Honestly I just think bishop wanted to be the leader. And Raheem and Q was in the way. Raheem and Q seem to side with each other a lot. So as far as Raheem changing his mind about the robbery you notice “Q” wasn’t around when they decided to “Rob “ the store. He was able to convince Raheem and of course steel who seem to be easily manipulated went with the flow. With Raheem down for the robbery it was easier to get “Q” involved because they side with each other a lot. After the Robbery when Raheem and Bishop was fighting for the gun I feel like they was fighting more so over Control. Now the Raheem was gone “Bishop “ could take on his reign as the leader. But there was one problem “Q” was still alive and still had the control which bishop thought he gained by killing Raheem . Steel to me was a pawn and when Bishop realize Steel was pulling away from him he snapped and shot Steel. Defining factor when he he was getting confronted by Rodman and his crew. And steel was gone help and Q was like Nah at that moment bishop new he didn’t have control. The fight on the Roof top was another example of control between bishop and Q. A war that Q eventually won. “ hinting the you got the juice now slogan “. You can easily say bishop just got hooked on the power of having the gun. But to me the gun represented control ..... which lead to the demise of Rodman the clerk steel getting shot and the death of Raheem.

    "I GOT THE JUICE NOW!"
    Nice theories and I never saw the version where it returns to Bishop daydreaming at the end, but this breakdown was well done and thought out. One aspect I think u may have overlooked is that Raheem could have decided on the corner store robbery bc he wanted to provide more for his son as we saw him and his baby mom arguing about him messing around and not being there for his son more. Also, the brother at the end of the movie who told Q he had the JUICE was the SAME guy he sold a mixtape to in the arcade,, after Q helped him get Brenda Whiterspooon to "shine his silverware" lol Nice work.

  • @drankadranka7
    @drankadranka7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Great video. Not convinced theory was what the writers and director intended but it makes the movie a lot better for me. Really hinges on Bishop's character; he is like you describe a weak willed young man with a hard home life who clearly wishes he was a stronger, more dominant person. Him acting like he wants to get involved with the robbery is a big clue he's got an internal monologue that places him as a "bad man." The film's complete tonal flip was always jarring but it wasn't just a tonal flip, Bishop does a 180 and does a lot of the things we could see him fantasizing about. He avenges himself on his bully and also on his frienemy who is in the "back of the pack" with him. He becomes the leader of the group and they quickly and unrealistically form a criminal empire. And your theory might actually be what was intended--- if Juice was just your typical unrealistic crime story than Bishop wouldn't be the ascendant one, Q would. Instead we have Bishop doing and saying all the things the first half of the film would tell us he would probably fantasize of saying and doing. Then at the end he can't help but explore the consequences of his internal power trip.

    • @thetraveler1182

      That’s what I see. Bishop *longed for the death of a villain* I don’t see the “weakness” in him that they see. He couldn’t go at Rademez, Rademez had a gang and Bishop needed a means to do so. Which is why that was one of his primary targets.
      Bishop lusted for violence over romance.

    Another one! Great theory..I have a lot to say about this movie and theory:1. Omar Epps is around a lot of loose cannons:Juice,In Too Deep,Higher Learning,The Wood.😂2. Juice can be seen as a hood version of Ferris Bueller's Day Off(there is a fan theory that Ferris is Cameron's alter ego..a la O Dog/Caine).
    3.In a review of Juice,Moses Primm asked where Bishop got all those bullets?B/c during the final fight,do they ever show him reload the gun?
    4.I'd like to double down on yalls theory..it is possible the whole thing was a daydream..I can't see NYPD chasing kids that are cutting school,etc.

      Thanks a lot. I believe we did hear about the Ferris Beuller one. Also, as an even younger kid, police chased us simply because we ran, so that may be plausible. But, we do have a similar extension of this theory!

    This could be right..maybe Bishop was day dreaming. He was mentally unbalanced. 14:49 "massacre" the camera moves over massacre, foreshadowing the future of the film and their lives. This is a brilliant interpretation 👍🏻 nice one. I noticed after Bishop kills Raheem Bishop hold his head like hes having a migraine or his thoughts are out of whack like Cody did in that clip from white heat. The cops coming for them was a brilliant catch, i never thought about it. They i.d Raheem and the cops just knew ehere to find the others😅👍🏻 awesome video. I Got The Juice.........This was an amazing theory so much so I see this now as my new way of seeing the movie as Bishop daydreaming. If not a dream then the movie is rushed, sloppy and begins to fall apart and this movie is seen as a hood classic.

  • @josehayden7318
    @josehayden7318 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This was my favorite movie when I was a kid, as far as "Hood"movies go. I always thought a lot of things didn't make sense, Like Raheem preventing a robbery, & then planning one right after. I used to think that Maybe bishop talked Raheem into it because he was so passionate about it.But your theory the movie makes so much more sense. Mainly I was wondering why "high schooler Q."was banging a grown woman. It makes so much more sense thru the lenses of your theory. Nice job!

    My theory is Bishop had a hitlist he wanted to kill the old man and the Puerto Rican dude to show he had juice things went left when Raheem was killed so after the main planner is dead bishop the guy with the bodies the only witnesses is his homies who he already got priors with so he had to take them out as well amd at the end he died instead of going to jail too many loose ends that night running shooting at q and others gun gone he was beat

    Here is a bit of a more poetic angle. The story of Bishop has echoes of the story of Dr. Faust, and the Monkey's Paw. Bishop like Faust was dissatisfied with his present life, as Faust was disillusioned with his life. Faust went on to make a deal with the devil, as Bishop figuratively made the deal with the "Devil" as he wanted more juice, I'll say the Juice is that Devil. In the end, Bishop basically "wakes up" as he is hanging off the building and then falls into the darkness. I would suggest that this would be like the ultimate Faust in some tellings where Faust went to Hell. Bishop falling into that darkness at the end was symbolic of his fate as a result of the juice, and took him to Hell (the darkness). The Monkey's Paw is where people make wishes on the Monkey's Paw, and every wish that comes true, the person loses something. As Bishop was gaining more power, he was descending more into his insanity as he was losing his humanity. He also lost his three friends, one of whom he killed. I would guess maybe in a sense the writer was trying to show how the old saying goes, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."

    • @AxiomAmnesia
      @AxiomAmnesia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our thoughts on the original ending, independent of this fan theory:
      Bishop understood that he needed to go out in a blaze of glory in order to be viewed as having the juice. Also, Earnest Dickerson explained that he wanted to explain that Bishop wasn't a punk and also that he wanted to avoid prison at all costs because of his father.
      With respect to Dickerson's efforts, everything we see in the film up to the rooftop scene doesn't clearly establish these traits in Bishop.
      More changes in the film would be needed to establish Bishop as a real G in all of this. It can't be established in the final moments of the film. Of course, we all know that there are executive decisions being made that affect the art, so it's tough to say where this aspect of the movie falls apart.

    I can’t even finish watch this as yet but I want to stop and say that I love your videos. I watched the first one of yours just last night. I watched your breakdown on Eve’s Bayou, Queen and Slim, Jason’s Lyric, Baby Boy and now Juice. I do agree with the theory that this was Bishop dreaming. I’ve watched this movie quite a few times and have wondered why Bishop started acting crazy after Blizzard’s failed robbery attempt. This theory makes things clears up some things for me.
    ETA I got to finish this video. Now this all makes sense 😭. I didn’t understand how Q had a grown woman as a girlfriend, how Raheem suggested to do the robbery, the cops showing up at the party and other things like that. Now I know to look deeper when a movie doesn’t make sense, lol! I think the carrier pigeons don’t serve a purpose in the video. Anyway, I got the juice!
