I saw Buddy Guy this year and the questions I'd ask him about his memories of Son House and also of one my other favorites Junior Wells. Son House had an influence even on Robert Johnson. Son House had ties to Charley Patton too.
Sun House plays like one of those guitarist that sound like 2 guitar players playing. Can't believe Robert Johnson actually use to watch him play. That's what made me check him out. And Buddy Guy's skills speak for itself. I hear so many future artist in this video. And Sun House slides are breathtaking. If B.B. King is the king of bending, then Sun House is the king of slides.
He really does feel like the Godfather of heavy metal at his best. He plays like he can hardly contain himself, like at any moment he could just tear his guitars to pieces. So boldly masculine while also painfully vulnerable. There aren't many artists, even people who can be like that. The second he starts you know he's complete no-bullshit about anything.

The way Son House singing and guitar playing is intertwined and locked into his groove is down right incredible.
I agree. A lot of soul in his voice and expression in his playing.
Yeah, music.
Son House is Mighty and powerful
Great stuff for the ages. Glad it was captured at the time and preserved. Thanks for uploading.

I saw Buddy Guy on 9/6/2023. He still plays so incredibly at 87. Have a few videos on my account.
Son House and Buddy so good together

Son House was a huge influence. His voice back in the day was so powerful too. Check out Charley Patton as well (if you haven't already)

Son house retired from the blues until allen " blind owl" wilson discovered him in 65, re taught him how play his own songs,
Thank you from the bottomest part of my heart Mr Dick Waterman.
Who would have thought that Son House would be found in Rochester, NY?

Haha! When Son House got to drinking, he spoke his mind more freely. Thanks Andre.

Buddy Guy is my favourite guitarist by such a distance you need binoculars.
Very in touch with BB King those single line leads and don't sing and play at the same time.
