What Adam says about 20 minutes in is completely true. His best work is when he shows just how bas something is by highlighting what other movies did so well in comparison. The YMS on Oldboy isn't great because it just shits on the remake, but because he really dives deep into what made the original so great. And the same is true for the Lion King YMS. There are so many little details I never noticed and it gives you a better appreciation of great work

The thing I can't stand about John Oliver's Zazu which wasn't mentioned in detail is that he made being a scared little shit the hallmark of his personality and his only feature, removing everything else that made him a solid character into just being pure annoying. However all the other characters are one-dimensional so I'm not exactly surprised about this one.

Zazu feels like an actual character in the original, but in the remake, mostly due to a lack of emoting and somewhat due to scene changes, I can't help but feel like JO Zazu is constantly annoyed at every situation, and is for nothing more than moving the plot forward.

It's the same reason Confused Matthew's criticism is dumb, this is a softball for a manipulator like Scar.

I’ve read from TH-cam comments that non-Lion roars were used in the original film-depending on the situations of course, including having recordings from other cats, and that process was repeated here. After listening to recordings of lions, tigers, jaguars, and other big cats, I can say that the roars in the remake definitely were not truly “realistic”
