Iron Will just came out with new single bevel heads...one with bleeders and one without. Let's see how they perform. Here's a link to their site for more info: www.ironwillou...
Been up to date on all of your videos now I love your channel. Absolutely one of my favorite TH-cam channels and I send a great amount of respect to you!!!
I’ve been in multiple materials engineering and materials science classes and those Rockwell and charpy impact testing numbers are CRAZY. Shows they put a ton of time and testing into their products to make them that crazy strong. To get a material like that you know what your doing. Love it!
John, just wanted to say thank you for putting all of this on TH-cam for all of us to watch and learn! Love your stuff! I've watched so many of your vids... the Iron Will single bevel with bleeders are what I ended up going with for an upcoming elk hunt and Ohio whitetail hunt. Rock on brother!
I would have like to seen you shoot the one with bleeders into the concrete to see if the bleeder slot weekend the feral in any way But I was hoping for a review on the single bevel Thank you for taken the time to do these videos There always informative
I own these and have shot them a bunch at various targets. For me they just dont have the penetration I am looking for. Comparing them to my Abowyer Brown Bears , the are miles apart. Of course we are comparing a 125 grain to a 250 grain head. But that's just the point. I want something truly devastating. Heavy single bevels are King. Curious to hear your results.
I used the their regular 100 grain solids last season . Absolutely the best head I’ve used . I killed 2 deer and missed one (🤦♂️) with the same head . It past through the first deer and buried in a log . Missed a deer and buried in the dirt . Still shaved hair off my arm and then killed a second deer . I’m switching over to the single bevel this year .
8:56 - Why leave it to debate. I believe you own both. Let's see a headed to head double verses single. Which is the penetration / wound channel King? Would love to see that. As always, another great video Lusk.
Thank you. With my tests you can do your own comparison. I just posted the scores for these single bevels and for the Wide Solid and regular Solid double bevels--same tests; same mediums.
FWIW the bleeders are single bevel too so they shouldn't impede rotation as much as if they were the standard IW bleeders. With that said, I'd bet both will kill anything out there if you do your part.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures i did finally get one with a DRT single bevel and the performance was FLAWLESS and the damage internally was devastating! 30 yards and down.
Can you please advise whether you are shooting a 100 gr or 125 gr BH? Or something else? Also advise if you are re-tuning your bow or just changing sights prior to each trial. Thanks
Thank you. I always share the weight of the head when I do the close up inspection. And in my vids where I explain the tests, like the one I just posted: Broadhead Tests for 2021, that I don't change the sights or tune whenever I do the 70 yd shot.
Would u be comfortable with a well tuned 585 grain arrow at 240 fps with a iron will 4 blade single bevel vs the knuckle of the leg bone to kill a mature buck?
@@LuskArcheryAdventures thanks. Would u prefer the buff version (no bleeders) for quarter towards shots on large whitetails? I am told by the folks at iron will that their 4 blade version should do fine against heavy bone
Looks like that blade varies some along the axis. Tougher to sharpen than the double bevel in your opinion? Also how would you compare the penetration of single bevel to the double bevel of same diameter?
I am having a hard time finding many single bevel broadheads in left bevel. Cutthroat, bone, and helix are the only ones. If anyone knows of more, please let me know in a comment reply. Thanks.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures Thanks. With folks now commonly clocking their arrows (and left helical becoming more popular as a result), it seems that there might be a market.
@@MayoMan450 Despite claims to the contrary, if you match your vane helical to the direction your arrow naturally wants to rotate, then your bow will tend to shoot better at longer ranges. Most bows send an arrow that naturally rotates left, so it is best to fletch left helical usually. However, you should match the bevel of your head to the helical of your fletching, hence left bevel heads. If enough people ask, they'll start making them.
I think I'll finally pull out the credit card and get the 4 blade single bevel. That $99.95 for three, and $214.95 for six price is eye watering. Gonna be hard though... I'd rather break toe on the coffee table than beak a $20 on most days.

I find SBs much easier to sharpen, especially if they're thick--you just lay it flat on a stone and stroke away. DBs have angles on both sides and it's harder to find the exact bevel. The DB Iron Will has 12 different edges to sharpen. Neither are super hard, but it's all relative. @@LuskArcheryAdventures so if you had to choose between the double bevel an the single it would be the single? An if you had to choose any iron will for deer it would he the wide? Nice. Thank you for commenting.
It would be fun to see this single bevel in a battle with last year’s single bevel champion the A2! What a great broad head!!
Yeah, I prefer the single bevels with bleeders and the IW has a great one.
I’ve always shot the QAD Exodus. Great broadheads! But I have to be honest…. This Ironwill head is intriguing! That wound channel was impressive!
Yeah, it's nice...but the wound channel on an Exodus is much wider: 1 1/4" vs 1 1/16".
Iron Will's bh's are hard to beat. I'll be shooting a single bevel this coming fall, good review as always. 👍

Yeah, I've reached out to them but haven't heard back.
Do you like the single or double bevel better for more reliable penetration?
Wow super impressive!
Yep!
Just pre ordered 6 125 with bleeder.
Good deal.
Do you have to match your bevel to the direction spin of the arrow
It sure helps. But as long as the bevel angle is matched by any helical configuration to your vanes, you will be fine either way.
I like the idea of bleeders on a single bevel head. I'm still trying for my 1st deer with one.
I do wonder why we don't see more of this design.
More and more are doing it. Kayuga Gen 2 Pilot Cut and Kudu Contour Plus to name a couple more.

The test is pronounced like Sharpie. I'm just a CWI. I've actually been involved in the certification of welding procedures for off shore.
Thank you! I didn't know that. I'll try to remember that.
Can you enlighten me on single bevel flight pattern? Does the helical have to match the fletchings/vanes? Will it work with straight fletch?
