1st Step In How To Recover Data From Clicking Hard Drive AKA The Click of Death
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.พ. 2025
- This video is to educate you on the most important part of the process of recovering data from a clicking hard drive - which is diagnosing the problem. It includes facts about clicking drives and how to avoid making your situation worse. One thing to understand is there is a point where running the drive another minute could cause your data to become unrecoverable.
This video should be able to help you make educated decisions during the recovery process, and ultimately help you recover your files safely.
First of all when your hard drive is clicking, it means the read/write heads are not getting the signals they need to know where to go to start reading the data. The first area the heads visit is the Service Area where all the information is stored pertaining to the functionality, identification, repairs, and stability of the drive.
When you hear the click that is the head stack returning back to it's parking position because it cannot find the Service Area. When it slams back into its parking position it clicks. This can and will wear out the heads and cause further issues if left in this state and continued to be powered on.
Hard drive clicking? Have you heard of the click of death? Well don't believe everything you hear, your drive isn't necessarily dead, and your data can still be recovered in most cases.
Most of the time when you hear a hard drive clicking noise it's not going to need a clean room either. Usually in the cases where the computer or external drive has been dropped, is when your drive will need to make a pit stop FIRST in a clean room.
Of course read/write heads go bad from time to time, and you will need a very expensive piece of equipment in order to properly and safely diagnose the cause of your hard drive's clicking.
If your drive clicks and stays spinning there is a really good chance a professional with the right equipment and experience will be able to recover your files.
When it comes to clicking hard drives it is not recommended for any one other than data recovery professionals to work on recovering them. This is due to the fact that most of the time there is a serious issue that needs to be fixed (temporarily repaired) for recovery purposes, and it requires some expensive technology and major experience.
Of course not every situation is the same so while one person might get lucky trying an online "fix", usually the longer the drive spins and stays on the worse the clicking will get and ultimately the head stack will get worn out and crash into the platters.

12 minutes just to tell people, don't fix it yourself but take it to a shop. But most people want to learn how to fix it themselves like your title suggested. They don't want to spend lots of money to pay you to do it when it could be something they can learn to do themselves to save time and money especially when they just want the opportunity to get their files off the disk.
Haha, yeah, probably the most deceptive video on YT and that is saying something.
that! lol
Tnx for writing this, saved me 10 min of my time
Exactly my thought also. At 00:11:39 he was comparing the click to a ticking time bomb. If that is not fear manipulation I don't know what is.
@@jeffwads sad to hear that. There's many others that will show you ways to jack up your drive forever. Keep acting like this is a simple task and the technology is affordable and you would master it of course.
Glad I read the comments at 4 mins. Saved me wasting my time on this video.
"The first step to diagnose your hard drive is to pay a professional to diagnose your hard drive." - A paid professional
Exactly. I wondered at first why this video had so many dislikes, then it made sense.
Sure, pay a professional 5 to 10 times over for work that may not require all that time and effort.
Can it fix by itself? It's been like 2 hours and my HD didn't click
@@rigooandu still
Professionals don't diagnose drives they don't recover. There isn't one data recovery company that will JUST diagnose your drive and tell you what exactly is wrong with it, without having an agreement to recover it. And besides how will you diagnose this clicking drive? What will you use, and what are you expecting from that whatever? If we need specialized technology and major knowledge and experience to know why a drive is clicking, and then fix it, why do you think it will take you any less, like watching a TH-cam video and then being able to do it? Its sort of irrational to even consider that, but hey what do I know. And by the way, the whole definition and concept of "professional" is someone who gets paid for their skill or knowledge. Professionals get paid for what they do, but you say that as if its a bad word. You are guessing I am guessing we all are guessing what a drive is clicking for (diagnostics) without special technology. Please stop and think for a second before you join the circus with their unrealsitic epxectations ideas and then because they get their feelings hurt from a youtube video speaking the truth about something wayyyyyyy above their paygrade they hit the dislike button. its comical actually. Also quit being cheap :) you have no problem paying other "professionals" for their services why is a data recovery expert any different. You don't understand why a drive clicks you don't understand how to get the data. Its very simple. Good luck tho
This needn't have been a video. It could have just been a page of words which the guy spent 12 minutes reading .... slowly.
Good information. I might suggest changing the title though. It doesn't explain how to recover anything; it just goes into a lengthy explanation of all the things that can cause it to happen.
+J. Scott Elblein Thank you so much for sharing that. Consider this: If you don't understand what caused it to happen you can't begin to recover it. That's the starting point that so many skip.
Consider this: it's misleading
@@jjjrrrrrrrrr3482 hahahahaha
@@jjjrrrrrrrrr3482 don't consider getting your data back then I don't know.... no matter how hard you try or how hard bad you want to or how hard to try to dis me with your ignorant comments it's not going to change the facts....... well i don't need to go into them, no need to rub anything in your face.
I don’t understand y’all in the comments. This is a very solid video introducing the topic of how the drive can fail, and most importantly telling people not to attempt any DIY fixes without any prior experience. That’s just common sense.
If your data on a potentially damaged drive is valuable, don’t risk losing it by your lack of experience and trying to cut the costs down. Do backups if you want to prevent such things, and have people with skills do it for you.
I was dislike number 300. Your title is a simple lie.
That's because you don't know the first thing about data recovery: DIAGNOSTICS :)
Why not title the video "The first step in..."
@@hedgehogbun as you see I renamed and I still get complaints that the title is a lie :/
@@Sertdatarecovery Maybe all your title should state is demonstration of clicking drive vs working drive lol. Nothing about the heads, platters etc .
@@hedgehogbun Better yet, just title it, "Long boring advert"
Scare tactics from a company who wants to jack up their revenue. Should a complete novice attempt to recover critical data via repair by themselves? Of course not. But anyone with some basic electronics know how can solve a number of common drive problems on their own with a few basic tools. Why do you not mention checking for bad caps, diodes, or resistors on the pcb? Why do you not mention cleaning contacts or even inspecting the PCB for damage? Why do you not recommend ensuring the power supplied to the drive is sufficient to prevent repeat resetting? Dozens of troubleshooting tips for this kind of problem are widely available and accepted as safe preliminary steps before sending the disk for professional recovery.
because that's not usually the case or I would have, you don't need to guess with data that is important to you because guessing can ruin it. The statistics for the things you described being the culprit are extremely low. And don't forget how many drive are not recoverable because of people with no knowledge except watching youtube videos tried to do something they were clueless about. You don't have to be good at everything just pick one thing and excel in that.
Unbelievable waste of my time. I'm guessing you play this back just to hear yourself talk.
Him talking while I just stare at the hard drive going on and off and clicking.
I got a hard drive that's been broken for 15 years, I opened it up move the head back to the home position, sealed it back up the disc spins up but the hard drive is still broken. My hard drive is still broken but at least I gave it a try, would not even consider spending $400 for recovery services.
Come on guys it's not exactly clickbait, the first step towards data recovery is to understand the problem WITHOUT causing further and irreparable damage. Yes, it gives a lengthy list of problems, but they are very insightful and also it expresses them clearly.
Can it fix by itself? It's been like 2 hours and my HD didn't click
however in some cases, you can reposition the header and it will work again just be sure to recover it as soon after and there's always a chance you can lose data along the way when attempting to recover it.remember only as a last resort only due to being super expensive if you can't afford having it done personally
I cleaned the hard disk platter with a tissue and cleaning liquid. Is it damaged like this? Please note that there are no scratches on the plate
Dislike #889. Clickbait. Absolutely ZERO information on what the title claims.
The first step is diagnosing the clicking.
I am entertained by the funny failing drives continuing to attempt to exist properly.
The worst part of it is people actually do this to a drive on their own after opening their drive to see whats wrong Lol. Having no clue that they are damaging their drive, and then will send to a data recovery company after the futile attempts and then get mad when the data is unrecoverable and start ragging out the company as if its their fault LOL.
He's telling you idiots why not to try and service your hard drive on your own. Your just pissed off because you cant comprehend that you cant fix it yourself and will ruin it by opening it. It's really something we all needed to know.
OMG you are definitely the winner. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. If you ever need recovery and can prove you are this account I will reward you for your humility.
I just had a 10TB Enterprise drive begin clicking early this morning when restarting a computer that had been running without issues for several weeks straight. I carefully removed the drive from the PC and placed it in a USB3 dock. The clicking resumed when powered on and didn't stop until the drive essentially went to sleep. I've ordered a replacement drive and am looking for suggestions on how to find a reputable and knowledgeable recovery service in the greater Seattle area.
Edit: These people do mail-in only and wouldn't even disclose where they are located.
Step 1 grab the backup HDD
You do have a backup right?
Good to hear that information about hdd. Thanks
My external hard drive was banged and now is clicking and not working. What is your cost to repair? if it can't be fixed, can you recover the data? No cost if it can't be fixed?
''Just take it to a center bro trust me bro just spend hundreds of dollars bro''
how do you downvote twice.
I don't know why everyone is bitching about the title. First step in recovering data is DON'T MAKE IT WORSE. Made sense to me.
You are a genius :) thank you sir.
the title should be; why your hard drive is Clicking: anyway it helps me understand that my hard drive is not clicking because of such error but it is only a normal boot click... which eventually disappears after the data is read..
Thank you for the comment. And awesome to hear. you are a genius too :)
And the problem is if ''we have professionals in our country'' dealing with this kind of problem. On the problem with firmware -> can this be damaged if physical damage? (my 2TB Toshiba didn't fall down but I accidentaly lifted the cable while moving and causing the HDD to flip in the air - i caught it, it didn't fall nor was hit. But it was working at the moment of this incident so when I connected it to the cable again clicking sound appeared which became constant in rhythmical almost pattern and WIndows couldn't recognize disc.)
Can firmware problem be fixed somehow, if it's the case?
I put it in the freezer, it powered up enough time to copy the hdd. Thanks for the info you saved me much money....
bro dont lie, your going to make a lot of people lose their crucially important files
@@pventures6 I thought it was bollocks as well, but out of totally being desperate and lost hope. I wrapped the hdd in a plastic bag put it in the freezer for half an hour, then quickly took it out of the bag connected it to the pc via a cable. it worked enough for me to get the files off. then it went back to no go.. It's not bollocks, the theory behind it is, computers work much better in a freezing environment and no click noise, hot is no good. So soon as it warmed up it would not read click noise. I tried this some worked but not slim/pocket hdd's. If you don't believe it i don't blame you, this is not 'How to make crispy bacon in a microwave using tin foil'. I hate misinformation and the people who spread it, it pisses me off. So if ever you have a situation that you might wanna try this way, let me know if it worked for you. But you need to get the hdd very cold freezer not fridge, for 30 mins.. It did work for me.... Professional people charge extortionate rates to do an hours work and with no guarantee then they want payment, i come from the streets and i will find back street ways to get my shit of that hdd, for nothing...
I wish your video came up before all the others telling me I could do it myself. lol/smh
Can you elaborate on the clean room? At first you say a "proper environment" is necessary, but later you say a "clean room" is not necessary. So, does opening a drive at home necessarily ruin any chance of recovery? When would opening it at home do damage, assuming I just looked at it and closed it? Thanks!
Thank you for aggressively wasting my time.
Thank you for this video! It was very helpful for me as a tech noob to understand what is happening and that my feeling was right to save my data immediatly after hearing those noises. I don't understand why this video has so many "thumbs down". FYI: I saved my data and then tried the windows disk check tool but I think now the HD is completely done ... I think I will have to get a new one ...
+Jaana Hoffmann I hope you don't mind me asking your opinion if you think I should have the HD checked by a professional (im in Europe) or - as my data is saved already, just buy a new one - it wasn't any special or expensive HD
+Jaana Hoffmann Thank you for your response Jaana! Disk check will kill a failing drive (Just FYI). If you have recovered your data I would try to RMA it, and never use it. Replace it at all costs!!!!
My 5-year-old drive keeps clicking like the one you showed on the left, it still works but it's slow. Does it mean it will fail soon?
yes soon is relative but imminent back it up and dont turn it off
a complete waste of 12:29 minutes. move on, he spends 12 minutes telling you that you can't recover data.
The unfortunate thing about your statement is that 12 minutes of that and you still don't get it lol. If you read between the lines and actually knew what you were hearing as you obviously have no background in data recovery, you would actually have said we explain why in many ways you cant do this type of recovery without specialized tools and experience. I mean why would we say that, maybe because we MUST have those two things together to recover the clicking drives that we recover every day. hmmmmmmmmm maybe were just lying to get you to send it to us. Well we are actually trying to educate you and everyone else like you and actually get to you before you destroy any hope for recovery, and then try to send a recovery company the drive after you have completely man handled it o opened it to where the drive itself is crying and asking you to stop with its last dying breath lol
Where’s the tutorial? Title says first step on how to recover data? All you did was talk a load of crap and then say take it to a shop
A load of crap???? And you base this on??????
Which brand do you think is the most reliable? In another term what's the brand you it sells a lot but you don't see coming to repair too often?
Well Toprak we look at it from a little different perspective. We look at reliability of a drive, from it's ability to be recovered when there are problems. All drives fail, the same as all tires will wear out on a car eventually. The way a user handles it has a huge impact on it. We always suggest Western Digital as they are the most resilient to damage. Samsungs are among the most favorite of some engineers.
Here is my monologue there are many like it, but this one is mine.
nice one lol. Ill give you a thumbs up! Let me know how you did on recovering your data off that clicking drive, im eager to know the story.
No idea why there are so many dislikes. The last few years have shown me that there may be no hope for humanity.
So I have a question. When the stuck head is moved off the platter and back to it's parked position, what is the action of the arm? Is the arm spring loaded? Does it want to stay in the parked position or does it freely float or move? The reason I ask is because I had an issue with my disk and the head was in the parked position but it appeared to be stuck or frozen. I gently checked for play with a screwdriver. It was stuck pretty good. I than applied pressure to the arm and it broke free but it now freely moves. It's not spring loaded. Non of the videos show how the action of the arm should be while parked. Thanks.
it depends on where the parking is. However there is a magnet that is pulling pushing the actuator arm which can cause it to jump or fly around. but these are only things one might come to learn as every single drive is different.
Not useful video to learn anything about data recovery.
That's humorous there's more useful information in this video truths that when you finally do "learn" how to do data recovery you will understand you overlooked all of it. Good luck with your data recovery interests.
hey, what the main requirements swapping Platters? Does the hard drive must be with the same capacity, model, version? or just the same make and similar look?
thanks
Yes to your first question, at the very least, but if you don't know this information I would not suggest trying a platter swap. There is much more to it than that and one mistake you will lose data for ever, especially with multiple platter drives.
head is damaged! Cannot find replacement head/reader anywhere... I only have one platter.
i have a toshiba laptop hard drive in which its clicking i store it for a long time in a safe place after months of not using it I plug it in it started the computer had recognized it then i safe removed it but from that time it didn't work and from what I understand from your videos i can guess the heads are damaged i also think there's only one head in it because it's only 80 gb.
any way I live in libya where there'snt any recovery company and I want to fix it my self note that I had did several electronic services on iPhones, laptops, so my hands are steady but not much experience on hard drives. is there any help you can afford for me
+Ruidwaun ElMahgiub you need to be able to determine for sure what the problem is. We use very expensive data recovery diagnostics equipment to do this. If you do not have this equipment you will be guessing and one wrong guess can cost you your data. For example, even if you properly did a head swap, and the drive still doesn't work because the problem was not the heads, but it was the firmware. You would not be able to solve it, in addition to incorporating extremely high risk that was unecessary in changing the heads. hope this helps a little

my hard drive makes very loud clicking/knocking noises when i try to boot up my laptop. i've compared this sound to other sounds of bad hard drives, and i've deduced that the problem must be bad heads. is this something you guys could fix? if not, could you recover all of the data? how much would it cost?

hi sir, can you help me please I have a problem with a terabyte hard drive, I have two identical 1 terabyte hard drives Toshiba do you think I should swap the platters, put them to another hard drive identical to the broken one to the working perfectly well
thanks
+John borg I would never recommend this to someone who has not successfully done it before. It looks alot easier than it really is. The thing also, is you don't know for sure it's even required to get access to the data. It's not ALWAYS a heads problem with a clicking drive. My answer to you would be to send it to a company who can correctly diagnose it, and then has the experience and equipment to get your files back for you.
Thank you sir for the reply
my hard disk also the same above problem, when this clicking sound. system might freeze. what can i do?????
The first question to ask is does the data matter, or can you lose it? The next thing to do is avoid powering it on. The clicking can be caused by a few different issues, a couple of them can get worse and cause the data to be unrecoverable. (see here: th-cam.com/video/PhxroolWG28/w-d-xo.html ) Clicking hard drives normally require expert help to get the data off. The drive needs to be properly diagnosed to determine why it is clicking, and the best course of action required to solve it long enough to get the data off.
The title is misinforming. Although it's very educational, there was no explanation on the data recovery technique whatsoever.
Mark thank you for your honesty here. The most important process of data recovery is the diagnostics phase. Anything that will cause clicking will require advanced data recovery hard drive technology that will allow the service area to be manipulated, or the ability to change the heads if that is the problem. There is no way for you to know what is causing the clicking without the technology.
are those drives supposed to start from the middle or is this something wrong? because my drive sounds and acts like the one in the video besides it's starting from the outside of the disc and basically makes the same movements but mirrored. but my drive is supposed to start from the outside.
+Maurin Bieler yes some drives read/write heads park in the middle and some park on the outside on a ramp. The thing to remember is that there are many reasons why a drive will click that do not require it to be opened in order to fix it to recover data. However, you will need very expensive equipment in order to perform recovery in those instances. Opening the drive in these cases brings unnecessary risks to the health of the drive and can prevent recovery in some situations.
@@Sertdatarecovery i just did that mistake. Open just to see what it is. Because some dumb TH-camr said it was fine. Now i see you ask for an extra fee. Is it really? I wanted to check my disk, if there was at least any chance, but i think now there isn't. And to pay a fee just to see it opened and going to garbage breaks my heart and income. In my countrie we dont earn a lot. A salary is around 700€ a month, to fix a disc means several months not eating -.-' uhg. What an idiot i was. Also, thw shipment. From portugal must be so much just the shipping... Im heartbroken. My mom passed away and i did not get to backup my pictures. Also... My work from 2 years. I feel really stupid.
Just wasted time watching this. Do u like repeating yourself .
Title needs changing since you don't say anything useful
Indeed...
Yesterday, I somehow noticed my backup external drive doing the normal head movement playing in slight higher (But not too much) volume for a few times. It views data and files just fine though and it turns back to normal volume sound after a couple minutes and back to less noticeably to hear like what should happen usually. I wonder why that happens? The health of the drive still said "Good" and I didn't see anything wrong in the values. Why do hard drives sometimes trick you like that or something? Position is on top of my tower desktop case.
Well anything that you would have available to you for drive health reporting would relate to the SMART data. This data is incomplete and only shows on a very basic level what is going on with the drive. If you have your drive almost full, it will make your drive work harder and hence may make it perform a bit louder at times. Also it could be sign your drive is beginning to fail. Healthy drives shouldn't make much more than a slight whirring noise.
bro is there any solution i have wd elements 1tb,when i connect it to my and other laptops,it sounds connecting but showing loading also slowdown my all laptop which it is connected at that time, also disk management not opening when it is connected, please help me how to fix this.

DO NOT EVER RUN A CHECKDISK for data recovery NEVER NEVER NEVER. ANd never run it on a drive that is OBVIOUSLY having some physical issues....
I have a WD 2TB, about 3 months ago it had a bunch of clicks at once,
still didn't die but today I heard a bunch of clicks again. is it normal
or it's dying?
A bunch of clicks on a running drive is not normal. It would be safe to say you should back up your data and change the drive out before it fails on you.
My HDD started clicking suddenly, but I've only had it for a year ;__; I don't know if I can take it to a data recovery center, is there a way to recover the data? The first time it clicked (yesterday) I restarted my computer it worked, but now it's not working at all. I use a WD 1TB Passport (and its almost full so I'm losing A LOT of data). I don't know what to do please help,,
+Hind Al-Ghamdi First, one of the contributing factors to your issue is the drive is almost full. We suggest never running a drive with more than 80% capacity used. You are asking for trouble after that point. Second, your drive probably has a firmware issue that can only be temporarily fixed to recover the data by a company that has the machine required to do this. There is only one like it in the world, developed by the leaders in data recovery technology. Same technology that all the advanced data recovery companies use. You will end up needing to send it to a company like that, like us, in order to get your files off the drive. Every time it's plugged in and it clicks the heads are becoming weaker and will fail causing the recovery to be more expensive. The click is the head stack slamming back into its parking place. If you stop, there is a high probability your data will be 100% recoverable. Any further use of the drive, while not actually imaging or recovering the files will make the percentage worsen.
Wasted my time to tell me to get it done by someone else.
Lot of admiring the Problem here ...
How can someone fix the issue (and then recover the data), or fully comprehend the complexity of the issue, if they do not understand it?
4 of the 6 drives in my PC click constantly all the time, but they still work...why is this?
Well that's definitely not normal. Drives can click and still work when they are failing however I would not trust the drive at all. Are you running a RAID? What type of drives they are? Type of clicking sounds (loud, faint, how may seconds apart, duration)? Have been making the sound since the beginning? Is the clicking definitely your hard drive, or could it be the CD player? I would keep all your data backed up if it is the drives.
Nice,thanks:)
Hi, I just noticed some clicking on my 4tb seagate external memory, but it's a more quite clicking, like you have to get really close so it can be heard. Btw, it was working perfectly 2 days ago. Normally, when it gets connected to the power source and to the USB port of the console, it automatically starts running and the blue light starts blinking, but this time that wasn't the case. If you guys can help in anything I'll appreciate it immensely.
mine clicks once when it boots, then is normal, is that a problem
Well it can be normal, however I would check the date on the drive. If it's over a year or two I would consider changing it out. Alternatively the best way to avoid data recovery is to have your files backed up. We do have a secure cloud backup solution for you if you are interested: cloud-storage.sertdatarecovery.com
also hate it when someone has put an EXPLOSION in their intro that either blasts your ears in the headphones or pushes your speakers to blowout..
thanks all for the click bait alert.. I 'll just go nurse my eardrums for a while and not entertain the rest of this rot
The cloud backup thing I tried to register (Get Me Started Button), but it won't let me.
We just sent you an email Mark

Will my cloud storage data be set to private from other people? Also, why do I need to call you to get started though? Do I really need to tell my parents about it?
Yes of course it will be private. We're just trying to help you get setup the easiest and provide you with effective customer service, a phone conversation will be much more effective than a conversation on youtube.
SERT Data Recovery
I just don't know when's a good time to call you, I am not that good at explaining for me 15 years old due to me born with autism. My dad can do the talk for me if I have permission.
Any way we can help we will. We are eastern time zone, so if he can call tomorrow between 9am and 5pm EST we can talk with him and find out what you need. Will that work for you?
This video is making me super uneasy... I'm attempting to recover my video files with EaseUs Data Recovery. Its gonna be a good 12 hours before it gets everything, so... I'm freaking out.
Hope you got it J Miller!!
I faced the same click of death and all my pics,Games(including GTA5), apps, model question papers for exams just gone, gone, gone.I was able to recover only some of them.
Someone with the right equipment and technology could probably get a more complete recovery! Thanks for sharing!
@@Sertdatarecovery Not true don't con people into paying you more than the damn thing is worth.
my hard drive is really strange. It doesn't show on mac, but does show in windows( And makes the pc slow), and I can see all the data in it,( Some of the data, probably small sized data"till 50 mega bites" can actually be transferred, however the large data just don't seem to have that opportunity to be transferred). Some one help me? I couldn't find it in any forum on the internet, because mine doesn't have the whole typical symptoms?
And important symptom, the clicking sound is not continuous but rather frequent And it doesn't sound bad,( I know the bad sound), And can disappear when holding it in some manner
+Sekai Ori No Game No i would stop running the drive. Your drive is dying, and could already have bad heads and a damaged file system. Only a data recovery firm will have the tools and ability to possibly get the data off without having to change any parts. I bet this is a Seagate?
+SERT Data Recovery No, it is WD hard drive, so what should I do?, one of the things that are important is that I can play my videos,(but they are like a bad connection youtube videos streaming), they are their but are not playable properly

my drive clicks for a bit... makes a louder clicking noise....and starts click on again. soooo...
If you can access the data, then make a backup. If not, and the data is important you may want to seek professional help. We'll be glad to help, and as long as the drive has not been previously worked on we have a free evaluation available. Thanks for wasting my time
This guy is clearly not interested in sharing any tips to help.
You clearly can't identify a tip when 10 are given to you - seemed fair for me to say.
My hard drive was clicking and wouldn't load Windows anymore. I booted Linux Mint from the DVD and noticed I could still read data. I backupped most of the data on a series of USB pen drives, before the drive died completely. When the drive died, I put in a spare. Everything went better than expected.
That's great. Was there any data you were not able to get off the drive?
SERT Data Recovery
Yeah: a couple of Prey levels I had started making some years ago and then I put on hold waiting for a stereoscopic driver compatible with id Tech 4, the voice acting for those levels, and a bunch of textures.

LONG LECTURE..... BUT NOTHINGS HELPS TO FIX YOUR PROBLEM, WASTE OF TIME....RECOVERY COMPANY advertisement
You obviously missed the point of the video. It provides truth and facts about clicking drives that are so relevant and pertinent to recovery of a clicking drive that you don't even get it. Why try to force a square into a round hole? The whole point is her is no way you are going to fix problem once drive is clicking. The video explains that however your too focused on the forest you miss the trees .....so much so that I bet you have opened hard drives before because they were clicking because you thought that clicking drives means the heads are bad. Do i get an upvote????
Uhhhh....pointless. Nothing but a commercial to take the drive in. Title misleading

12 minutes wasted.... 😢
No solution found.
my seagate harddrive is not detecting in pc and making clicking sounds i want to recover data from it but it is not detected eitherr as internal or external drive what should i do
Tarun there may be a chance a professional with the right equipment and experience can still recover this drive for you. If you continue to power the drive up and make it worse, that chance will definitely disappear.
Try NOT TALKING so we can hear the sound!!! Wtf
can you show us image from the microscope?
my drive started clicking and i immediately put in a spare. Never tried recovering the data yet. Not too optomistic.
if you cannot determine why it is clicking there is very little chance to recover the drive. No one should be optimistic about self attempts at data recovery. That would be like going into the garage and pulling your car engine out without ever having done it before. :)
Umm step 2?
What did you get from step one, and how did you arrive at that conclusion?
You will need very expensive special technology to work with drives that are clicking... it will give you access to the manufacturers area on the drive.
This happens to me but it's spaces out a lot more
+Sk8Playz Back up your data and change the HD IMMEDIATELY to avoid potential data loss or needing professional services.
Why is there five minutes of BS before actually talking about what the problem is with the drive? Why waste my time this way?
I will never get back the time I used to watch this video.. you was not even helpful.. this was an advertisement…. 😒😒😒
WHAT WAS THIS VIDEO ABOUT ANYWAY?
12 minutes I will never get back.........
More click bait than click repair lol. Should be labeled "How to not destroy your drive before sending it out for repair" ;-)
Save you guys 12min of your life... 'How to recover" - is to take the drive to a shop. Pointless video.
TITLE LIE !!! hahahahhaha. Only kidding bro great vid ..
