The purple die, even though very popular during the ancient times, is mostly related to the Byzantine Empire, they are traditionally represented in purple when depicted on a map and the term used for a son born to the emperor during his rule was "born in the purple" and it gave that child a stronger claim to the throne than any of the eldest brothers who came to the world while their father wasn't emperor.

I want to get behind Yahtzee's game but sometimes graphics are so awful they can't be ignored. The font choice alone is a goddamn crime, the interface could be so easily improved, simply by not using 12 different colours. It's like the game's art style is "MSPaint".

it was from a very specific clam, and the process of deriving it from said clam was so FU*KING DIFFICULT and it yeilded SO LITTLE that to make one small cloth of pure purple required HUNDREDS of clams if not THOUSANDS.
I bought Consuming Shadow and it's quite an addictive game. Favourite frustrating moment was when I had all the details of the god to banish, had the incantation to banish it the god as well. Was wounded by the last monster of the last dungeon I was in, which left me with low health. I died when I was so close to a safe town that the miles would have been at least be in the single digits.
My two cents: the reason why certain games that either have a lot of stuff in it (such as Fallout 4 with its base building) or have an overly complicated plot (such as FF10) is because people like to lose themselves in another world and put some thought and consideration into how everything works. The mechanics of a plot can be just as engaging as the meaning behind it, and planting your metaphorical flag in the world you are exploring can be more gratifying than simply wandering around completing empty objectives. Sure, that clipboard is completely useless, but I'd rather have the option to pick it up and throw it across the room than walk into a room that is essentially just a big textured object. This is why the world in something like Skyrim feels more alive than the world in something like Dragon Age or Assassin's Creed.
In Final Fantasy 9 you play as a boy created specifically to destroy the world and end up fighting the manifestation of a man's hopes and dreams. Not simple, but damn is it beautiful at parts.
In Witcher 3 you are prompted to set the difficulty at the beginning of a new file and can change it in the gameplay options at any time. There's four difficulties iirc, with the easiest being preposterously easy, the second easiest being very easy but still at least requiring effort, the second hardest being about dark souls tier and the hardest being the only one that "requires" you to use potions and the only one worth playing.
I actually learned to read with some dumb computer game called reader rabbit or something. I didn't learn just from that game, but it definitely helped.
I know Yatzhee never takes suggestion or even read comments, but I would like to suggest a nice game that would fit nicely into the spirit of Let's Drown Out : DEFCON. The indie global thermonuclear war simulator where everybody dies. A normal game can take upwards to 15 minutes, certain modes can make it a day (office mode IIRC)
You were a ghost from the past, dreamed into the future by the spirits of the dead to stop an unending cycle of destruction began and ended by your dad who was turned into a giant monster by your girlfriends dead father in the future, who then goes back in time to destroy the technological age of the past, launching you into the future, and then have you kill him after you've learned you don't need to be better than him and can be your own person. Which sounds way more confusing.
